Given his dad's statement, you deserve the same "real classy" comment you tossed at someone else.

Just a reminder: there is no reward for being the first to correctly identify whatever the issue was when someone takes their own life.
Ehh…I’m not going to go into details because you probably could find them on the internet, but Lacy apparently has some extended family (not the father) that … well … maybe didn’t help his upbringing m.

Also, that comment wasn’t necessarily directed at Lacy’s parents…really at all. Rather, just a lot of athletes (or athletes with unreal potential) that had no help or direction starting from birth. I could go on and on in regard to that.

The whole situation is tragic. Prayers to everyone.
Really is. It’s sad for the elderly Marine veteran that was the victim of Lacy’s stupid and unnecessary accident. I pray that his family and friends achieve some closure apart from seeking redress through the court system. I pray the Lacy family, after grappling with this, can heal. I don’t hold out to know or understand fully how heaven, purgatory, and hell works, but I pray Lacy and Hall (the deceased former Marine) will be reunited and in peaceful harmony and union while in heaven.

He screwed up big time and made a disgusting, heinous mistake, but to off yourself … man … that’s tough.

Sadly, you read and hear about this happening all the time — not necessarily the suicide part, but tremendously gifted athletes in Louisiana who end up behind bars or never amounting to anything. So many kids in Louisiana and the Deep South that don’t have a chance from the moment they are born … so many shithead “parents” out there.
One of my best friends in college was from New Orleans, and I lost him to suicide 6 years ago. You're spot on about Louisiana and how do many kids from there don't stand a chance. His family had a daiquiri shop and po-boy shop, and they had some financial difficulties that caused them to shut it down after 50 years. So sad. Totally different struggle kids from there have compared to any place else

"National Causes"? Man, either SI is throwing some semantic shade at a broadcaster from a rival sports outlet or sports journalism is just in that bad of shape.

Comedian Ruth Buzzi died yesterday at the age of 88. Younger people probably won't recognize the name, but she was big in the 60s and 70s on Laugh-In and the celebrity roast shows.

Saw this on another site. I only knew her as Screech's Elvis obsessed mother on Saved By the Bell.

Southside Legend

Huge, huge ND fan too. Many don't know, but he was enrolled at ND. He apparently got expelled his junior year for posting a 0.0 GPA. Originally it was thought it had something to do with partying, but I'm now seeing it may have had something to do with losing transportation from his off-campus apartment during winter. Apparently his passing happened 32 years to the day of the Cheers final episode.

Drink one for George, hopefully he's doing a dance with Farley in heaven.

A great sitcom. George played the character Norm just how it was meant to be played. RIP Norm

Final “public appearance” (Aug 2024) where George was on Ted Danson’s podcast where they (Ted, Woody and George) talked about George’s life and reminiscing about Cheers.

George did say he was “rocking” a 2.0 through his sophomore year at ND, moved off campus like 2 miles away. He didn’t have a good way to get to campus and didn’t go to class and even missed his finals. He said he received a telegram from the admin after 1st semester telling him to not come back.

Link to the podcast. Really is a good listen. Was surprised how old Woody sounded.
