I knew it was coming soon after his last public appearance. This hits hard. Harder than I thought.
An absolute musical genius who's countless hits of Americana will be enjoyed forever. Unfortunately, like Bobby Fischer, Sydney Barrett, the guy from Fleetwood Mac, John Lennon to a degree, your mind just can't handle it. Kanye has probably lost it too. Brian Wilson was matching John Lennon and Paul McCartney combined until he got sick late 1966/early 1967.
The guy spent an entire year in his bedroom in his prime. Obviously, 'In My Room' was about that year. To his credit, he didn't get give up and fought back. He pursued therapy and medications and was able to live a somewhat normal life afterwards.
He also had the voice of an angel. Listen to Don't Worry Baby. That's him singing. His harmonies could never be Matched. Even by CSN and the Eagles. He wrote the Album Pet Sounds at 23. He wrote When I Grow Up To Be A man at 17.
My avatar used to be a 1966 Brian Wilson at his absolute zenith, right before his mental decline began. I guess it's time to use it again. RIP Brian. You brought so much happiness to the world.
