I grew up hearing and reading about stories like his. Loved reading autobiographies by Ken Stabler, Mickey Mantle, Whitey Ford, Jim Bouton, Lyle Alzedo, etc…Some great stories that people today would lose their minds about. Sports and much of life have become so robotic. I can appreciate the greatness and dedication of a Tom Brady but will always have a soft spot for the guys who didn’t take things so serious.
Heisman trophy winner and HoF member Paul Hornung was a party animal.

Dad was at that game. Not a sellout. Have the program still. Chiefs got worked over and took it out on Joe Kapp 4 years later.
My high school history teacher was there too, he had his ticket framed by his desk. He said his uncle took him at the last second as an after thought

The Colliseum is filled with shitty seats that’s why you never see usc sell it out. Also have Carol Dales chin strap. Preferred the days of the NFL and AFL and no inter league play. Creates more suspense to the game imo.

Looks majestic just like the rose bowl and soldier field from a good distance but once inside it’s a dump and they’ve been trying to polish that turd for decades. It’s also not in the most desirable of locations. I’m guessing it will be used for summer Olympics. Not looking forward to the invasion.

James Van Der Beek was by all accounts a very good person. 48 years old and six children. Heartbreaking.

Varsity Blues was part of the late 90s sequence of films that were raunchy teen comedies but it was an iconic movie because of the football element to it. And JVDB. I truly believe Dawson's Creek made him famous but Varsity Blues made him a star. Such a quotable and funny film. Not my favorite football movie by any stretch but if you were in college around that time it was an all time classic.

Such a shame. Happens every day but when it happens to someone well known it can only shine a light on bringing more visibility to some of the horrible diseases we still have to try to cure as a planet.

Mox, Lance Harbour and Billy Bob are all no longer with us. It's crazy to think.
me and a buddy of mine were talking today about this at our work facility today and he brought up the guy playing billy bob dying years ago that i didn't know about and anyway he said that he heard he lost all that heavy weight that he had and became skinny then just like that he mysteriously passed away

James Van Der Beek is also part of a select club of actors who got to play quarterbacks. Burt Reynolds, Jamie Foxx, Keanu Reeves, Scott Bakula, Brendan Fraser and Craig Sheffer to name a few.

Add Mac Davis and Adam Sandler to the list.

I thought the "to name a few" part covered my ass, but yes.

My personal favorite movie QB was Walter Briggs as "Rifleman" in All the Right Moves. Nickerson should have had him fall on the ball against Walnut Heights.

Djordjevic should have played the ball, not the man.

Sad news. Academy award winning actor Robert Duvall passed away yesterday at the age of 95. From Boo Radley in To Kill A Mockingbird to The Godfather, Lonesome Dove, MASH, True Grit, Apocalypse Now, and Falling Down, just to name a few. One of the alltime greatest actors with an extraordinary career.

Congrats! Too much family here to pack it in. I’ll just keep paying the highest cost of living In America. $15k a year in property taxes alone and regular gas back up to $4.50. Just bought a second house and that’s another $12k in property taxes. Thought of buying a second house somewhere near ND. Any recommendations?

Can’t help with Indiana but I’m sure many here on the board can.
