I really hope we pay tribute to Father Ted throughout the football season, perhaps a sticker on the back of the helmets.

What about a patch opposite the Under Armor logo on the jersey? Either one should be done.

Had the privilege of attending the events this week due to my position in student govt. truly an incredible experience. The memorial last night, in which president carter, condi rice, various senators and a cardinal spoke, was one of the greatest moments of my life. Rest in peace, father ted, RIP.

Someone on Twitter last night claimed that four US Presidents spoke at his funeral-- Carter in person, and Obama, Clinton and Bush the Elder by pre-recorded video. I doubt any Catholic priest has been so honored before, and it's unlikely that such a thing will ever happen again.

I was at the funeral, and no president spoke. There were rumors swirling that four presidents were going to attend- but only Carter was there in person to my knowledge. During the memorial last night, a pre-recorded video from Obama played, which was beautiful. Nonetheless, it was a great tribute weekend for Fr. Ted and was truly moving. Highlight of the speakers was a former senator from Wyoming, cant remember his name, but was absolutely hilarious.

If nothing else, every reference to "Touch Down Jesus", visual or oral, point out that it is the façade is on the Hesburgh Library.

It had to be former Senate Whip, Alan Simpson. He is one of the best speakers period. I hope the entire ceremony is available online. I also wish President Obama would have attended live. Father Hesburgh deserved it.... or better yet, earned it.

I have a feeling we will.

I saw a release from the university that a... "Fr. Ted"... patch will be on all ND teams uniforms no later than the fall. The baseball team or other spring sports may be doing it already but he will be honored throughout the entire 2015-16 year with that patch.

Did Clinton and Bush the Elder not both record video messages for Fr. Ted, too? They may not have been played at his memorial, but I saw it retweeted by several credible accounts.

You are correct. Both Clinton and Bush the Elder had a brief recording in the video montage at the beginning of last night's memorial.

Yes- i forgot about that. Was well done, and interesting because part of that included clips from Don Keough, was passed away last week as well.

Nicely done. I wonder if Condi had some influence in the matter? She has always struck me as a very intelligent person and a great mentor. Cheers!
