I grew up in southeast dc in the 80's and was married to a Latina. There is racism from all sides that is flat out wrong. My son is half Peruvian and half Irish. He too will deal with it is his life and all I can tell him Is that education is power and if anyone wants to change the police attitude I advise you to strap on a a uniform and sign up

...and shocked by the lack of moderates. Just like most here are fervent fans of the Irish, they are fervent fans of the far left or right.

None of you would have heard about it if it wasn't for rioting. None of you give a shit about the less fortunate or the marginalized. This is worth being angry about.

Use the anger in a positive way that provokes change. This is neither positive nor does it help provoke a change (well at least not the change you should be looking for).

Thats odd. In the tailgaiting in the the snow thread Wiz posted about serving at a soup kitchen. But then again, I'm sure you'll decide that he didn't do it for the right reason.

Cuz I'm the onlyear one who think it's still an issue.

I already argued that there is more racism in the US then most people think (and posted articles about the research on it) but you are not helping the issue. This burn everything attitude is what turns people off. Calm the fuck down and argue rationally and logically. Anger is an enemy.

I love black people! Show me the money!

What is the point of this message other than to antagonize and add to the fire that people are feeling about this situation. There have been very few of you guys to say anything that would have me to believe that you're capable of understanding the frustration/opinions/hurt/ from those whom share a different view of you. If people aren't capable of civil discourse, then shut this shit down, because frankly this shit is sad.

Anger is rational here. Anger is empathy, sadness, caring, everything. It just makes people uncomfortable.

Absolutely false. It absolutely still exists. And is still and issue. I don't think anyone is arguing that. That's where I feel what can be a good discussion goes bad. Keep it in context. Race and its place in this case is relevant. Making a broad comment that nobody thinks race is an issue, isn't. There is not one post that I've read in this thread that says anything like that.

The left/moderate/right spectrum is malarkey. Libertarians FTW. I'd probably agree with TTown on gun rights and NoJustice on drug rights while vehemently disagreeing with both of them on marriage rights.

I just spend last Sunday down at the local shelter. I usually go three or four times a year and take clothes, food, etc and there are usually 15 or so kids from the church that go with me. They will play with the children, face paint, football, etc. This time we were able to deliver over 300 pieces of winter clothing to the shelter. I don't post this looking for accolades or pats on the back. I have done this for years and will continue to do so. I feel it is my duty to give back to those less fortunate and this is simply one of the many ways I donate my time, money, and energy.
