Oregons defense is not that great. They let Arkansas St run 34 up on them.

Looking at NCAA statistics we note the following:

Rushing D:

ND 25 113ypg
Oregon 37 126ypg

Passing D:

ND 14 173ypg
Oregon 70 233ypg

Total D:

ND 11 with 287ypg
Oregon 43 359ypg

The all important stat, yardage aside.

Scoring D:

ND 2 8.67 ppg
Oregon 31 20ppg

We'll see this weekend who can hold who. But I expect it to be the first college football game to exceed 2000 yards gained.

The road to the Pac12 championship goes through Corvalis, strangely enough. Oregon to win out has to beat ASU, USC, Stanford and OSU. They are on the road for 3 of those games. Then they have to beat the Pac12 South Champion, which as it stands now, would be ASU again.

Our road goes through Norman and Pasadena. Oklahoma and USC both are beatable. With this defense my only concern is the O getting going. If Tommy starts the rest of the way you'll get a 2000 Baltimore Ravens scenario. Average QB that can manage the clock, and defense that wins any game they are in.

Boom. I'm licking my chops for the matchup of Oklahoma's Oline vs. ND's Dline. We can own the line of scrimmage and get LJ to throw some INT's by making him uncomfortable. I have a feeling the media will overlook that matchup, and its big game-changer.

I also think we can run the ball on them aslong as we stick to it. Golson also seems to play better outside of Rock's House. I'm loving ND in this match up

Another revision thread. Well I never "revised" my preseason prediction until now so I'm saying 11-1

FEI gives us a ~20% chance of winning out, and a ~66% chance of finishing the regular season with no more than 1 loss.

OU is a tossup. USC is a win. I said 11-1 preseason and I will gladly say I think we go 12-0. Yes, I'm that confident in the Defense.

That's aggressive considering we've struggled to beat decent teams at home. See, Purdue and Michigan. We haven't shown enough to say we're going to beat USC.

I feel like we match up well against Southern Cal, especially our defense.

Our defense will match up with almost anyone, especially a traditional pro-set. So far, our offense doesn't match up with anyone outside of Miami and Navy and that's our road block to being elite.

USC hasn't shown enough that they'll beat us either...

I think we go 5-1 down the stretch, winning 1 of the Oklahoma/ Southern Cal variety, and win the Fiesta Bowl. Because honestly there aren't many teams in the country I don't think we would compete with, if any. I think Oregon and Alabama could handle us pretty well, but other than them I can't really see one. LSU and SCarolina's offenses would be eaten alive by Te'o and co., so I think as long as we don't play in the National Championship game we have a really good shot at a BCS bowl win.

I'd love to see us slug it out with Alabama. I really think we could keep it close and give them all they want. Even if we lost I think we'd earn a lot of respect around the country if we pushed Alabama to the wall.

For what it's worth, I'm not really a believer in Oregon. I think they're a soft team and they play in a conference with no legit defenses outside of Stanford. I've seen this show before, two years ago, and I know how it ends. If they ran the table and made it to the NCG their glitzy offense would get smacked down again by a legit defense.

Me either. When they allow 20 or more points from teams like Fresno state or Arkansas state I don't believe they could compete in a real football game. Yeah they shutout a (at the time) ranked Arizona but come on, they were never deserving of that rank.

It's still way too early to decide how dominant Oregon and Alabama are. I'll wait until they play someone before anointing them the champs.

Would love to see the boys go 6-0 but wouldn't be surprised with 5-1 and think 4-2 is more realistic. 10-2 for the season would be much better than I anticipated going into this year and should be considered great progress for this team/staff.

2nd that. USC's last game they only put up 17 offensive points against a not very good Washington team. So the good news is USC's offense is faltering. The bad news is that the Trojan defense is stepping up (blocked punt returned for a TD against Washington). ND can beat them, but the offense needs to shape up quick.

I said 9-3 preseason. 11-1 or 10-2 we lose to OU we will have a hard time passing the ball with Everett and since our TE is our best WR idk how much separation we can get from their DBs. USC is a swing game I think we take the run away but our secondary isn't great and their WRs are burners but we should get better as the season progresses.
