Oregons defense is not that great. They let Arkansas St run 34 up on them.
Looking at NCAA statistics we note the following:
Rushing D:
ND 25 113ypg
Oregon 37 126ypg
Passing D:
ND 14 173ypg
Oregon 70 233ypg
Total D:
ND 11 with 287ypg
Oregon 43 359ypg
The all important stat, yardage aside.
Scoring D:
ND 2 8.67 ppg
Oregon 31 20ppg
We'll see this weekend who can hold who. But I expect it to be the first college football game to exceed 2000 yards gained.
The road to the Pac12 championship goes through Corvalis, strangely enough. Oregon to win out has to beat ASU, USC, Stanford and OSU. They are on the road for 3 of those games. Then they have to beat the Pac12 South Champion, which as it stands now, would be ASU again.
Our road goes through Norman and Pasadena. Oklahoma and USC both are beatable. With this defense my only concern is the O getting going. If Tommy starts the rest of the way you'll get a 2000 Baltimore Ravens scenario. Average QB that can manage the clock, and defense that wins any game they are in.
Boom. I'm licking my chops for the matchup of Oklahoma's Oline vs. ND's Dline. We can own the line of scrimmage and get LJ to throw some INT's by making him uncomfortable. I have a feeling the media will overlook that matchup, and its big game-changer.
I also think we can run the ball on them aslong as we stick to it. Golson also seems to play better outside of Rock's House. I'm loving ND in this match up
