Florida State is a fraud. They scheduled their way to a BCS/NC game. Hopefully VaTech takes them out. I can't stand punk-*** football programs

did FSU really just play back to back fcs schools to open the season?

Yes. And what is even more pathetic is that they are gettin rewarded for doing so. Cant wait for the playoff and SOS to get thrown back into the equation.

lol, BYU has played Washington State and Weber State... how can they be put into the top 25 for that? Just like Florida State, they are being rewarded for playing weak opponents.

kinda agree...although it is a little different for them because unlike FSU, they are a newly indy, so scheduling is tough...but still...I don't see anything that says top 25.

I dont see how UofL jumped us, UF I can kinda see but either way it doesnt matter at this point of the season. Need to beat the Michigan teams these next two weeks and then we can start talking rankings.

Just be glad we moved up. The ranking will take care of its self when we start playing these other ranked teams we just have to beat them.

Anybody else think the Purdue win is going to help us down the road?

Glad for the W against Purdue. Now we need to take care of MSU. This is like a 12 step program, take it one week at a time. The rankings will take care of themselves,

Me! Me! Pick me!

I certainly hope so at least. michigan, Wisconsin, OSU are the only real threats left on their schedule. Given, those are all right in a row, but the first two of those three haven't looked great so far, and they get Wisc at home. I like them to go 9-3 and finish ranked.

That being said, Purdue has that tendency to drop games that they shouldn't.

6 opponents in the top 25? Wow this is gonna be quite the year.
I'm so nervous about MSU! I think we have the potential to beat them but, it could just go either way.

They basically had an extra two weeks of summer practices over everyone else. They got to practice for two extra weeks with what amounts to a couple of scrimmages. Meanwhile, they have two weeks of actual game footage on Clemson and what could Clemson or Wake Forest really learn from the tape of FSU pushing a couple of FCS's around?

I understand why the FCS schools jump at the opportunity but the advantage is so great that the conferences should not allow this type of stuff. Pathetic. On a side note I love that OSU got spanked after what they pulled last weekend.

The conferences promoted the mismatches after signing agreements guaranteeing bowl slots. How else can the SEC or any conference get their 5th, 6th, 7th, etc member teams to have sufficient wins to be bowl eligible?

It almost promotes the better teams in the conference by association, the conference is "tougher".

Will you still be talking all this smack about BYU when they beat us? They are a good team.

lol, BYU is overrated, you are a victim of simply looking at records without know how they got those 10 wins. BYU is simply overrated, I expect to win pretty solidly against them this year.

I just cant believe the voters put BYU in the top 25 after beating the teams they beat. At least Florida State was ranked BEFORE they played those teams.

This lacks logic.

BYU beat Washington State 30-6 and Weber State 45-13. By all accounts, pretty bad teams. But that doesn't mean BYU isn't a Top 25 team. I'm not saying they are, but all we see right now is ">80" (assuming WSU is #80 in the country) and ">FCS." They could be the best team in the whole country, we just don't know.

They can only beat the teams they play. Did you expect them to lose? They are 2-0 after a ten-win season and won their first game on national television. What did you expect?

Rankings are meaningless, but we should be rooting for BYU until they come to South Bend.

Here's how I see it playing out:

vs Washington State - W
vs Weber State - W
at Utah - L
at Boise State - L
vs Hawaii - W
vs Utah State - W
at Oregon State - L
at Notre Dame.....

So they'll be 3-3 when they come into town. It's very unlikely that they'll be undefeated, or ranked by the time they get to South Bend. Regardless, their ability to throw the ball all over the field should be worrisome. They are a better passing team than Navy, Purdue, Michigan State, Michigan, and Miami, and Stanford.

why, because they put up good numbers against teams like Weber State? I hardly think that is convincing evidence to say they are better than the teams you just listed... I can give you Navy because they are a triple option team, but they threw for almost 200 yards. Lets wait and see how many passing yards BYU gets against a solid team before we go all gung ho...

BYU may be good, but they havent faced anyone worth talking about, so comparing them to other big programs is useless and simply illogical.

I think BYU beats Utah and it will be tight against Oregon State, but I would take them over Oregon State right now too. They are solid legit 22 year olds who follow authority and buy into a team concept.

That's like saying everyone that plays at ND goes to mass every Sunday and don't believe in contraceptives.
