Private insurance companies are ruthless and are a big reason why the ACA sucks. Pre-existing conditions are reasons my back surgery won't be covered with short-term disability, even though it's technically a new vertebrae that's injured. Insurance is a freaking scam and I hate it. I also hate that it's a necessary evil. There are some policies you just can't self-insure.

Koon, it was cheaper for them to pay $70 than to send someone to look at the situation. He's talking about several appliances and a central air unit. They'll send someone out for his.

I've never had a home warranty, but have purchased the extended warranty on my TV and washer. In both instances both failed and I got a brand new replacement with no deductible. I think you need to be selective on extended warranties and weigh the cost of the warranty against the cost of a new item.
Most new heat pumps/furnaces/AC's now come with a ten year parts and labor warranty, so there's no need to buy a home or extended warranty to cover these items.

I always felt like that stuff was supplemental insurance like AFLAC? Cant see how a company would insure something that's about to die.
