IRISH ENVY PS3 - HOUSE RULES

1. Start as a head coach at no greater than a 1 star program 65 or less in overall graded team talent and Obviously NO one star selections from a Power 5 conference as it generates advantage. I also pretty much chucked out the Div 2 entries and the "right off the bat Service Academies, because be already know that goes insane quick. This would include these school Gentlemen, so press up up them suits, there's some value here on the showroom floor!

Teams YOU MAY CHOOSE FROM TO START YOUR CLIMB ON THE COUCHING CAROUSEL: So pick one, crank the volume to "stun" and mark your PSN. Invites will be sent. If we need one oe two more teams at the starting line, I'll figure something out that's qeuitable.

USER TEAMS

UMass - dre1919

Akron

Eastern Michigan - bkess

Georgia State - steinhoot54

Idaho - IrishLion10

New Mexico State Lobos - Catholics_Rule

New Mexico Aggies

To me, the interesting thing with this roster is it drags some of the never really been used shitties, kinda cuts out a couple teams good enough to hop from quickly and they're almost evenly rated. Plus, I really have no idea where to start which is refreshing.

2. No use of the "Toggle Blitz" (R1+Toggle down). It's broken. No use of it whatsoever.
3. No simulating any aspects of your game, you must play offense, defense, and special teams. The only simulation acceptable is a user vs user game that won't hook up and play. Both parties have to be in agreement of course.

5. No inside kicks until the 4th quarter (unless you're behind in the score OF COURSE!
6. No going for it on 4th down unless it's 4th and 1 and you're on your side of the field.
7. Do not put coaching points into the "Ice the Kicker" and "Clean Laundry" sections of the Head Coaching Tree. They make unbalancing issues in game play and effect the game output more than they should.

8. If your players declare for the NFL at any school less than a 4 star, let them go become millionaires. This helps players become less dependent on one star player to carry the whole team and creates more balance on the roster.

Try to think of your fellow players, and that we do this for fun, so try and play as realistic as possible. It's much more challenging and fun that way.

NO PLAYING CONTENT WE ALREADY KNOWS SCREWS THE POOCH:

1. NO CUSTOM ROSTER FILES
2. NO CUSTOM UNIFORMS, ESPECIALLY HEAD TO HEAD MATCHUPS
3. NO CUSTOM PLAYBOOKS
4. NO CUSTOM MUSIC FILES EMBEDDED INTO YOUR STADIUM SOUNDS. BASICALLY FELLAS, All these "custom little features are all neat and shit but they all require a "FILE TRANSFER from one player to another when we go head to head and that ALWAYS leads o broke ass games, intense anger toward EA's lazy ass so just follow these simple rules and we should see a lot better results. We had a pretty good long entertaining run before, no reason we can't again if we just avoid some of this bullshit.

This time around I would like to introduce s four team playoff option. It will never be equitable or fair but might add some spice. This made a little sense to me:

6 seed games: Rose, Sugar, Orange, Fiesta. Championship (all played offline with a team as closely rated as you real one. DIFFERENCE: no one plays offense in these games, let the CPU SIM IT. YOU DO have to play Defense. Since everyone is a freaking offensive genius this should be a bit more balance given the better talent on these playoff substitutes" The team you pick as your offline sub should match the style of team you play (Think, if you play a Pro-Style like New Mexico don't use Oregon in the Playoffs even if the talent ratings are similar) Your opponent can better practice for what you normally play. Then it's just player skill adaptation and better / worse team talent. Kinda sucks, but I think it's the bext we can hope for. The BCS sucks.

SEEDING:
#1 (home team) #2 Rose Bowl
#3 (home team) vs #4 Fiesta Bowl
#5 (home team) Sugar Bowl (#6
#7 (home team) #8 Orange Bowl

Championship (Neutral Site Game)

USER TEAMS ARE ALL Head Coaches (starting with 5 HC points to assign in the RECRUITING TREE.

I am interested in something like this as I still get the itch to play this game, but I need a little more information.

1. Do I have to play at a certain time or is it at my leisure? Work and children dictate my schedule.

2. Do we directly play games against other IE members if our teams cross paths or how does this work (ie. playoffs, conference games,)?

3. What happens when I inevitably get bored or to busy to continue? Do I single handedly screw up the league?

I just started playing the games again this past weekend. I tend to play it more in between seasons and once the real thing starts and some newer games come out in the fall, I completely remove it from the rotation. I always come back though.

Sooooo, we reviving this thing?

I've been working on my pro-style playbook lately, I'm ready to ground-and-pound the competition with a cupcake team to start.

I would like to, but I had these concerns when this was brought up in a different thread and they were not answered.

1. Do I have to play at a certain time or is it at my leisure? Work and children dictate my schedule.

We try to move quickly, but it's generally at your leisure. We advance every two or three days, sometimes less if everyone can play in the same night, sometimes more if people are busy a few days in a row.

We have a group text that helps everyone track progress, that way our commissioner can check in and determine if everyone is ready to advance to the next week.

2. Do we directly play games against other IE members if our teams cross paths or how does this work (ie. playoffs, conference games,)?

We play the games, setting up the matchup time that works for both users in the group text. EA's servers are bad, though, which sometimes leads to user-vs-user games not being playable. The games will freeze at the pregame screen when both users hit "ready," or else it will freeze once the game starts. There are also times where the game lags very badly, even if both users have great internet connections. If the game is deemed unplayable after a couple of tries, the game is simulated.

Dre1919 was telling me that he's upgraded some home wifi equipment, which gives him hope that a new league won't have as many user-vs-user issues.

3. What happens when I inevitably get bored or too busy to continue? Do I single handedly screw up the league?

Absolutely not. If you get bored or too busy, you can switch your team to auto-pilot. It will keep your team in the league and active, that way if you decide to jump back in, it will have been taken care of, and you won't lose your created coach and his skill tree.

If you get SUPER bored or busy and want to drop out completely, that's not an issue either. You just risk having to come back in with a new team/coach if you decide you miss us.

I just started playing the games again this past weekend. I tend to play it more in between seasons and once the real thing starts and some newer games come out in the fall, I completely remove it from the rotation. I always come back though.

It's all for fun. The group text is a cool way to banter, check in on readiness, and to check availability for user-vs-user games. But if you don't want to be in on that, we can keep the thread active. And it's a no-pressure situation. If you're busy and real football is about to dominate your life in the fall, you can hop out without worrying about us hunting you down.

We haven't run our online dynasty since our commissioner passed away, but I still play the game. My online dynasties still show as available, and the roster transfer still works, so I assume the servers are still okay.

Amen. One of Dre's friends or family wrote this on his Facebook page Christmas day along with pictures of the letters:
"The kids wrote letters for Santa to bring to you in heaven. Later they want to go to your spot and wish you a merry Christmas. You are so missed."

Brought tears to my eyes, I really feel for those kids.

One year ago today Dre passed away.

I haven't been able to play my PS3 lately cause my youngest shoved a bunch of plastic into the disk drive and screwed it up. I ordered a new one, but have been lazy about putting it in. I'm gonna get that done after work and play a game to remember Andrew.

God bless the commish and his family.

I'm saddened because I was never able to find an online obituary for Dre. I was interested in learning more about our friend.

Hard to believe that he has been gone for a year.

Also curious about who it was that opened his account not long after his reported passing last year.

If you all wanted, I would be willing to play NCAA any time. Being out of college makes it much easier for me to do so now.

I was going to text the group at some point. I'm gonna be playing a game and drinking a brew in Dre's honor tonight.

I'm friends with him on Facebook, so I see a lot of things some of his close friends post in remembrance.

For being a random internet stranger, Dre did a hell of a job of bringing other random internet strangers together over a mutual love of the NCAA video games. Even via simple text communication, you could tell he was a good man.

If you're still playing at 10pm, let's play together. I'll be back from practice and drinks by then.

Operation Sports once again has a team working on updating NCAA14 rosters.

The rosters for the '17 season are almost complete... but I got impatient, downloaded their file, and finished them myself. They hadn't added Fresno State yet, so I researched their roster, depth chart, and freshmen, then updated them myself.

Also gonna make some minor tweaks to ND's roster when I get home.

I'll add them to my EA locker and then post my gamertag this afternoon if anyone is interested/still playing NCAA14.

I'll definitely download. I need to download rosters for '16, '15, and the actual '14 season too, for posterity and all that. I think the last roster I downloaded was the '13 one for that NCAA '14 season with Tommy at the helm.
