When I win, I will buy out the top 10 on the v bucks list. I will hoard them like Ancalagon the Black.

If I win the 1.3 billion I'm buying a sports franchise.

After taxes you might be able to buy a hockey team if you want to own 100%. Otherwise it's unlikely you can buy a team.

I would probably buy a large interest percentage in an NBA or NHL team.

If you went on true value, you would pay more for a 5 year old Mercedes than you would for the Cleveland Browns.

Would love to be a majority owner of a NHL franchise. NBA I'm out, too much drama dealing with players!

also don't forget that there's a huge lump sum discount, which looks like it knocks off about 30-40% of the value of the pot before taxes.

If I cash the winning ticket, I have earmarked a hefty sum for my bagmen. Gonna make it rain five stars all day and twice on Sunday.

What money is left over, I will upgrade to a double wide, get my tooth fixed, trade in my AMC Pacer for a used truck, finally get cable and internet, and hire someone to bush hog my lawn.

Where do you draw the line at donations to friends and family? Serious question to a hypothetical PB Jackpot winning ticket.

TBF, this is probably the first time in lottery history the expected return on $1 spent is close to $1, so it's not necessarily a terrible investment....assuming, of course, you have absolutely no risk aversion.

Immediate family (Parents, sister and inlaws) would be set. My closest friends would be set. My outer circle friends would have a little bit tossed their way in the way of a new house or whatever. Everyone else can eat a bag of dick. Then I would buy IE and ban a bunch of you and return a couple of bannees.

This is a good plan.

I don't think I would toss my friends a house or anything like that, but I would pay them handsomely for mundane jobs. Like, if I set aside 10 million to take some badass trips, I would take them with me to be "security." AKA lets do some cool shit together for a few days, and then leave me and my wife alone for a few days, but have a good time on me.

Or I would buy a house, and pay my friends to help with "projects," AKA let's drink beer and watch football all day while professionals actually do stuff around the house. Maybe hire Koon to do some basic DIY stuff so we can drink beer, watch, and laugh, and then I would hire another actual expert to fix his mistakes. I would record these things with high-tech equipment to then post on IE for Wooly's amusement. Hopefully Wiz would jump in and a classic Wooly-Wiz-Koon dialogue would ensue. I would then purchase IE, gift Pham a handsome retirement package so he can sit back on the site at his own leisure, and then make Wooly, Wiz and Koon each moderators, just to see what happens when the dust settles.

I would then start a new website, since this one would obviously fall into a pit of misery under the iron fist of the WWK Triumvirate, and it would literally go back to the way things are set up now.

I would also buy a bar and give my friends (and maybe some lucky IE members) personalized bar credit cards so that they can always drink for free.

I read, a week ago, that it was silly to buy as many tickets that would cover every number. It would cost 750 million dollars and the taxes would make it a losing venture.

Now that it's 1.3-1.5 billion, would it make it worth it?

Then I remembered that someone else could win it, then you'd have to split it with them.

Interesting thought. You also would win $$$ for many other tickets, not just the perfect one. In the end I can see it being worth it if you were guaranteed to split the big pot with one other person.

I would spend the money as follows:

1) Buy a sweet yacht and sail around the world and do hood rat things with my hood rat friends.
2) Buy a sweet plane and go to the places I can't get to by boat.
3) Buy a sweet car and go the places I can't get to by plane or boat.

And hookers and cocaine of course.

I think that the risk of splitting, taxes, and the lump sum discount make it close to a push.

The big thing preventing anyone from buying all the possible number combinations is the administrative costs of doing so. You'd have to buy 256 million or so tickets with specific # combinations. Maybe now that some states sell tickets online, it would be possible to write a script that did this? If it is though, you'd run the risk that other people had the same idea, thus quickly wiping out your expected return.

Hookers and Blow might kill me within the hour of winning.

If I get through a week of Hookers and Blow... I'd probably live forever.

With $800M lump sum and approximately $400M after taxes, I'd set aside $25M - $50M to divide among family and friends. I'd have each of them sign a non-disclosure as well as a "Don't ever ask me for money again" stipulation contract. I'd set aside another $25M - $50M to donate to charities and other good causes. The rest I would invest and simply live off the interest. $300M invested and living off of 3% generates $9M gross salary. Pretty sure I could figure out a lot of shit to buy with $750,000 per month.

I would endow ND defensive coordinator position with $75M interest only endowment that must be spent in full each season.

What will YOU do with your Powerball winnings? - Album on Imgur

This guy has a good plan.

Maybe don't call a lawyer out the phone book at 11PM, but he makes valid points.

Getting a lawyer and financial planner are obviously smart. As is the police escort. The rest is kind of petty.

50,000 for your friends and family? That's a slap in the face. I would pay off my best friends' debt no doubt about it. My parents would never pay for anything again.

My parents have 9 siblings combined and each of those families would receive maybe 1,000,000.
