The defense did not play nearly as well as I thought they should. I know they only allowed 6 points, but all those yards given up leads me to believe they have taken a step back. I guess there were a lot of young guys out there.

Nix had a rough day. He was just off today.

Rees played very well, though he missed some easy throws.

Special teams still suck. Kicking is worse. 0/2 field goals.

D line was disappointing overall.

Thoughts?

Can we combine this with the other post game thread? I'm too drunk to follow both.

I actually thought punt return was better than last year, tj gained a few yards like twice. But im not happy about the game, sometimes i feel like its good to have this type of game before michigan. It can make them hungrier and feel like they have something to prove. They know theyre better and its a rivalry game, lets hope they really show up next week.

I was very impressed with the depth and the explosiveness of are offense. Depth being the key word

I hate to be the thread police, but we have two that people will post in, and I value the IE input so much that I'd hate to miss some discussion :).

Not putting too much into this game. It was vanilla and the game was never in doubt. Reminds me of BC last year.

Let's be honest, they didn't look good against a crappy team at home. That makes me very concerned about next week. Think that is an acceptable response.

Tommy looked great today. Amir has big play ability. Defense played pretty well, would like to see more but, overall I am happy with their performance. DD and TJ are big time. Troy da man!

I'm not sure what everybody expects but all I ever want is a win and win they did.

They "didn't look good"? They stopped playing after two and a half quarters and Reesus looked like a Heisman candidate.

Like Lou always says.........the biggest improvement is from week 1 to week 2.......a W is a W.

Bring on Michigan, this team will be ready!

What pissed me off, and the two Irish fans that sat with me, is that we didn't make a statement. Yes, we won, but we didn't look good against an opponent that we should've creamed. Especially with their terrible D and virgin QB.

Mich? Made a statement today. Oregon? Made a statement. Alabama, on the way to making at statement.

This is what we are missing. I want to see us destroy teams we should destroy.

But a win is a win and I liked the oline play and WR play.

Good win. Some mistakes, pretty normal stuff for a first game. It will get clean up for next week...

Oregon played a team call Nich... I am not sure what that is. The Temple QB wasn't bad at all. He has the potential of being very good if you ask me.

Yeah that guy was elusive and quick as hell. Looked like he even hurt his knee at one point. He made good decisions and took what we gave him. I'd wager he's better than a lot of qbs in the country.

We had a statement win against Navy last year that did jack-all in impressing the country.

I was impressed with the QB play on both sides. Temple has a pretty big boy lining up behind center.

Depressing to give up a touchdown run to Temple after last season, but pretty vanilla calls on both O and D, it seemed to me.

No need to "make a statement." Beating Nichols State or Central Michigan by 50 is not making a statement. Oregon puts up 70 on scrubs then loses to Stanford. Next week we'll have a much better idea what this team is about.

But there were no expectations. My point was that those teams are beatin the hell outta the teams they're supposed to be beating the hell out of.

And for those giving props to Temples QB....come on. He played a good game but he's not Gardner.
