Very very very balanced on offense. I love it.

Nice to see Jonas gray go for over 100, he deserved it

Rees played very well, but early on missed a few wide open Michael floyd.

Cierre wood with a huge block! Nice game by him as well

I love lo wood, and so do the players. They were all so excited when he scored.

Dan fox takes horrible angles.

The defense played deceptively really good I feel like today.

Toma! What a game dude. I give you MVP

Nice to see ruffer kick a career long

Two uncharactoristic penalties by Blanton

Michael Floyd as a blocker is second to none

Louis nix is a brick wall. Nothing gets by him.

Stanford is beatable no matter what you negative nancies say

Kendall moore is going to start next year

Tommy Rees completed 79% of his passes this evening. We are seeing this dude grow and mature right before our eyes. Golson/Hendrix may be our future QB, but for now, and the forseeable future, Rees is going to keep trucking along winning game after game after game.

Jonas and Cierre might be the best 1, 2 RB combo in the nation..../bias

Defense is gonna be too sick, the front four are monsters, and after this offseason, I'm not sure if they will give up more than 50 rushing yards a game next year

MIKE GOLIC JR!!!!!!!!!! Can't say enough about this guy, I think he might be earning himself a 5th year invite

ZERO TURNOVERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We won :D

Brian Kelly needs to be fired! Our uniforms were awful. The offensive tempo was waaay too fast and they didn't even huddle! I couldn't keep up! And they barely covered the spread. Oh and worst of all that stadium and a f*cking video board! WTF?! I wouldn't have watched the game if it had field turf. Would of been too much. I am penning Jack to have him fired right now!

Sincerely,

NDNation

+ David Ruffer's FG had the most draw I've seen on a FG....ever.

+ Short passing game was there all night. Tommy is maturing. The deep ball still needs work, but progress is apparent.

+Maryland is not good.

+ Aaron Lynch.

+ A defensive TD!

+ 7-3 going into Senior Day against BC.
----------------------------------------------

This team is playing good football right now. I refuse to look past BC...but watching Stanford get pwnd by Oregon makes me think we can take the Trees out at The Farm.

* Tommy Rees played an excellent game. Efficient, accurate. Without drops he would've been something like 33-38. Crazy.

* Jonas Gray has been absolutely tremendous. He's playing his way into a mid round grade in the draft, IMO. Such a physical runner.

* Cierre Wood also played very well. One yard shy of 100.

* Michael Floyd did his thing. Some uncharacteristic drops, but the usual playmaking and dominant blocking.

* TOMA TOMA TOMA

* TJ Jones is very inconsistent. Also a very poor blocker.

* Tyler Eifert is the best tight end in the country. No one will tell me different.

* Offensive line was once again tremendous.

* Love the effort from Aaron Lynch and the defensive line.

* Linebackers are slow and terrible in coverage.

* Kendall Moore has great potential.

* Gotta like the game from the secondary. They played well.

* Lo Wood. Happy to see him get that pick six.

* Not a bad day from any of the safeties. Motta was not godawful, for once.

* Ruffer getting back to form.

* I'm constantly frustrated by Kelly's insistence to play the starters all the way to the midway point of the fourth quarters in blowouts.

* Some stat updates:

Rees: 2,402 yards, 19 TD, 10 INT
Wood: 907 yards, 9 TD
Gray: 730 yards, 11 TD
Floyd: 921 yards, 7 TD
Eifert: 589 yards, 5 TD

You don't learn much about your team when your opponent is so weak. But a win's a win.

Nothing to complain about this game. Everybody played well. Playcalling was on occasion iffy.

I sure hope Kelly knows what he is doing with regards to not giving playing time to Hendrix.

  • I'll echo Mayock: Toma needs more reps. He catches everything and always puts up good YAC.
  • We came into this game having only given up 6 sacks all year, and we took 3 against Maryland. I'd attribute most of that to the increased tempo and Tommy having less time to check us into protections. I'll gladly take the occasional sack in exchange for an up-tempo offense; we're so much better that way.
  • Jonas continues to impress. Whenever he carries, I never feel like he could have gotten more. Cierre still dances a little too much, so he's less consistent. Still very happy with those two. Would love to see us produce two 1K+ rushers this year.
  • I was surprised by O'Brien's ability to scramble. Lynch put some serious pressure on him, but he always managed to get away.
  • We got big plays from some of our young guys: Lo Wood's interception, Kendall Moore's TFL, etc.
  • Our kicking game looked great. Ruffer was perfect, including a 52-yarder, and Turk was putting up good numbers.
  • CJ Brown had some gnarly helmet hair. Looked still Keith Stone on the sidelines:

Great balanced offensive attack. Would have liked to see a bit more Hendrix, but I think Tommy played a very good game. He still can't throw a deep ball, but he is getting better at checking down and not forcing the ball to Floyd when he's covered. Toma makes this team better. I love Theo's explosiveness, but Tommy just doesn't have the same confidence in him that he does in Toma. Lynch can not be blocked by single coverage. Wish he took better angles at the QB...when he does he will get a lot of sacks. Fox is slow and takes bad angles, but when he hits you...you go down hard! Mike Golic has played awesome and I really like the way he gets downfield. #3 played like an All American today in all phases of the game (catching, running with the ball, blocking). I can forgive him for the two drops. I also thought Slaughter played really well. I didn't see Harrison make many plays today. Manti, although visibly hobbled, still controlled the middle of the field. I really, really enjoyed this game :)

Loved everything about tonight's game.
One thing is for sure though, being that Manti wasn't a big contributor tonight. He's definitely not in great shape right now as far as his injury goes, Manti at even 75% would have shown up tonight. I really hope his leg heals up quick, we need him.

Did someone put Ben Turk's jersey on?

Some good points in this thread. Good win, keep moving forward, that's all you can really ask for.

Is Eifert working his way into the '12 draft?

How bout Mayock, at this point, giving Smith a 2nd round grade.

One thing I like about the Irish offense now is that under Weis's teams I was always praying for a bomb to Shark/Tate/Floyd. As if that were the only way we could score.

Now we're just balanced as hell. And teams still have to cover the deep threat, but we don't need it as much.

He is coming back. 100% sure he is. Was already looking at apartments and getting together roommates for next year in south bend
