Well, when you throw it all over the field (to shitty WR's & TEs) the OL is still quite involved. I just hate our running scheme for our personnel. Big OL, one cut backs, power football. That's the type of players ND traditionally gets and the only way for us to be successful. If you want to keep having our 6'7" Left tackle try to keep up with speed rushers, be my guest. It's worked out great in 8 years.

Sadly the best running back for our play calling tonight never got a carry. :(

I would like to see some traps and other types of run plays. I think that the problem is that our run game isn't good enough against good defenses and they can't seem to pass block well either. I would like to see a better quick passing game that doesn't include WR screens.

I agree on Dexter, unreal. I think our offensive scheme is awful and just doesn't fit our personnel. Hope our next coach believes in some power football.

Just wait until 2019 between the hedges............ so glad we scheduled this pointless ass series....

Right?
The kid quarterback will be a three year starter by then and Kirby will have the defense looking like 2012 Bama.

Need people going forward to get called out for praising Heistand. I don't care how he recruits. We can never ever run the balll against a top defense and this has been a reoccurring theme for years now. We are soft up front and have been for years. We will never be a top team until we figure that out. Maybe it is still the scheme's fault and not his but we need to figure it out soon.

This will always be how it is under Kelly. It is not Hiestand, if he were under a competent head coach he would be fine. Kelly needs to go.

Are you surprised the decision making of personnel or play calling under a Brian Kelly coached team is subpar?

Not in the slightest. It just seems so glaring.

Am I blind? Is Dexter NOT supremely talented? Does he NOT play every rep like it's his last? Is he NOT by all accounts a great teammate?

I just don't get it. He played on special teams (like Sanders ofc) so he's not suspended. Just...WTF

Wimbush threw the ball 39 times, more than Jaylon Hurts has ever in his career. Kelly loves to put too much on the QB. It's obvious that the strength of this offense should be power football with our RBs, instead we chuck around to guys who aren't very good. Same ole same ole.

This is a big part of the problem to me, and it's not just the throws but also the designed runs. You throw those in and you're talking about 55 play calls to put the ball in the hands of a kid who has not proven (to me, at least) that that kind of workload is warranted. I don't think he is terrible and I'm sure he will get better before his career is over. But he also doesn't look like a player that is going to shoulder the load in the biggest games of the year against elite teams. He's fine back there if you're primarily leaning on your running game to get a few hundred yards per night, but on a night when you run for 1.5 yards per carry I don't know that Wimbush has the game to take over.

Those plays are so slow to develop that I can't imagine them ever being successful against a decent defense. It's not just bad play calling, they're bad PLAYS, period.

I mean they work okay against teams like Temple when we can simply manhandle their o-line. Georgia's line was meeting adams at the LOS every single play. When Wimbush pulled it down I don't think he ever made it outside of the tackles. Just trash play calling. I could call a better game blindfolded in NCAA14. This is supposed to be a top 25 team, this shit is inexcusable.

Kirby is like Will Muschamp's step brother. Doubt he even gets them to Richt level.

Kelly said "coach's decision" in the press conference.

Really? Who would Kizer be throwing to? Unless he's also bringing back Brown and Fuller, we still lose.

I think he would have been more accurate downfield, thus softening up the rush defense.

The only post game note that matters is that BK has run his course in South Bend. Seriously cannot even stand listening to this clown anymore. I backed him up for so long on everything and it's abundantly clear that he IS THE PROBLEM!

SQUARE PEG IN A ROUND HOLE. That is his motto. He is completely and unequivocally unable to adjust. You coach to your skills. You adjust to your playmakers. You change your play calling to accentuate your strengths. He is unequivocally unable to do so because that damn square peg is gonna fit!

Why is "he's two games in" always the excuse with us? Alabama has been a top ten team for a decade and they've had six or seven quarterback in that time. If you're going to be a top program, you don't get to cry about a young quarterback and then pray it all comes together every third year in the guy's senior season.

That's because Alabama is about the only team where, when the quarterback is atrocious, they still win by 10+ 95% of the time. Almost every other teams rely on the QB to lead them.

Honestly, I don't remember their QBs ever being "atrocious". Probably because they have a great D, strong running game, and don't ask them to do too much. We are so far from Alabama that it's really hard to compare. Stanford or Michigan's level should be very attainable with the right hire.

I historically havent agreed with this sentiment, but after 8 years ND is spinning it's wheels.

We've lost 11 out of the last 16 games. Our wins are against Nevada, Syracuse, Miami, Army, and Temple. We're not spinning our wheels, we've driven off the fucking cliff.

I'm gonna dip out but let me just say a few positives:

-Really inspired performance by the D. How many 3 and outs did they have to endure? And then turn around and cause?
-Overall a hard fought tough game by the D Line.
-Special shoutout to Drue and Watkins. Ballers
-Newsome and Yoon had a huge impact. Tyler has NFL potential, totally bombed it tonight, helped a ton.

This was incredibly pivotal and likely cost us the game, but that is "the game". If 1 or 2 plays cost you the game, it was a coin flip to start. I am still seething about it BTW....

I mean, I knew it was the game when it happened.

I immediately thought, "this might have been 'it.'"

Sure enough.

There is adversity, there is fate, and then there are the pivotal momentum making calls.

That was it, for the game's tempo and barometer that sealed it.

Didn't realize that. However, they look better than last year because of their D, but they still fall in the high end mediocre range. it feels like ND is stuck there. Even when they win 10+ games it is fake hustle and they are out classed by the better teams.

You Wimbush haters have got to be kidding me... Lol.

Why not hate Adams? He looked like shit. And Big Mike. And Alize. And Tony...

This is a joke lol.

Adams was getting zero running room after our slow ass handoffs allowed the Georgia d-line to blow up our line every single attempt.

Wimbush was the one sailing throws over receiver's hands and just looking generally lost the entire game. Did he make a single great play?

This loss goes on Kelly and OC's heads for thinking that Wimbush was capable of the insane workload they put in front of him. This was a comedy of errors, but a big part of it was Wimbush looking like hot garbage the entire game.
