Hell of a win! But what happens when need to put points up? I'm just a little scared about our offense
Those on the live chat think I love Tommy. I don't necessarily love him, but we probably won this game because of him. Young quarterbacks have growing pains. This is the first year I think Tommy is a veteran. He was a true sophomore last year...that was part of the reason for his turnovers.
Maybe, just maybe, this arrangement will work out. EG gets the start and they give him opportunities to succeed. I think they can give him better early throws to work in. But, if he's not doing it, Tommy has 20 starts under his belt and doesn't get rattled.
I don't know if it will work. But, Brian Kelly knows more about football than I do.
I think that is partially true.
I also think that our play calling was a bit predictable/weak.
We should have thrown a few more short completions to get Golson settled in, then thrown in some play action to take the top off...
Oh well, just my 2 cents. A win is a win!
This Notre Dame team does one thing.
It wins against teams that we're not supposed to.
We're 4 and O. Suck it bitches.
JJ, how are your hands?

Huh?.........................I am speechless, and so are others. Did scUM score a TD? no. They contained Renard Dobinson all night. Forced 6 turnovers. What more do you want?
So you wanted to lose tonight?
I agree. You've got a soph QB in a primetime rivalry game. You're backed up in your own territory. Let him settle into the game by running the ball, throwing some easy swing passes and getting him used to the environment. But, it's possible Kelly wants to throw him into the fire early, knowing if he's not ready he can bring in the seasoned Rees. Whatever the truth and strategy is, we won, which is all that matters.
You and others can be speechless all you want. It doesn't change the fact that Michigan's OLine DOMINATED the LOS, in the 3rd Quarter, to the tune of 11:37 of Time of Possession for Michigan, in that Quarter. It's not like I said that they sucked, just that Michigan DID push them around a bit tonight. So maybe they aren't the Steel Curtain?
Give Golson more time. A quarter is too short to pull him.
I understand what you're saying, but T.O.P. means diddly squat.
Scoreboard, kmoose, scoreboard

that is the stupidest thing anyone could have said tonight...embarrassing
I'm happy as hell with the win. But a win doesn't mean that there's nothing to improve on. And if people didn't see Michigan pushing our DLine 5 yards off of the line of scrimmage, fairly regularly, in the 3rd Quarter, then they can believe that nothing is wrong. Then they will stroke out when we lose to Miami because they dominate the LOS. Brian Kelly has is "Next man in" motto; I think the IE Poster motto ought to be "Eyes Wide Open"
It doesn't seem like you're taking into consideration how different the Line's assignments are against a QB like Robinson. I think this line has proven, over and over, how good they are. Including in this game when they had to. Remember, you're talking about a defense that didn't give up a touchdown and didn't play with great field position all night.
I don't know about that. We handled MSU last year easily and should have beaten Michigan. I'm reserving judgement on where we are until Stanford, Oklahoma and USC. I love our defensive front 7, but if we don't get our act together on offense we're going to lose all three of those games.
They played against Robinson all night....... explain this:
Michigan Rushing Yards by Quarter
1: 21 yards
2: 40 yards
3: 88 yards
4: 12 yards
The rushing numbers, AND the TOP back up what I saw with my eyes. You guys saw it, too, you just don't want to admit to it.
Hop on the Rees bandwagon. Golson would've played just as well or better than Rees played. Granted, Rees played a solid game. But nothing too great. He played mistake free which is what won us the game, but Golson was not in long enough for Kelly to pull the plug on him. At least give him until halftime... Rees only had 115 yards, he was handing the ball off all night tonight, and only led us to 1TD and a field goal. But we all know Kelly LOVES to play for the field goal. I think we need to be a little more aggressive and play for the TD. Short answer: Golson will never mature if Kelly keeps pulling the plug on him. Just saying.
Admit what?
They won the trenches in 1 quarter out of 4?
So they pushed us around for 1 quarter?
UM's Oline won the 3rd quarter battle
Our DLine won the war.
UM moved it very well in between the 20's, but when push came to shove, in the red zone, we shut them down.
That is what matters.
Your love of Golson, or hate of Rees, have you blinded. So what in Golson's 3/8, 2INT, 30 yard performance makes you think that he would have rebounded to go 8/11, 0INT, 115 yards, with a rushing TD, the rest of the game?
I think it was a little over a quarter but he looked lost. Not just his statistics (which were horrible) but he looked lost and confused. Not what you want from your starting QB. I say that winning is more important than egos.

Yeah.. we'll see.
I can't wait for Stanford.
Our D is perfectly set up for a Pro-Style offense... BRING IT.
We will beat Miami because we have better coaches and smarter talent.
(Thanks for the beer Pkt!)

Ahem, kmoose, an answer, please
