1. This teams leader is Teo. This man his nothing but beast!!!

2. Tommy Rees? Wow how huge has he been for this program. He is earning a lot of respect from the ND fans.

3. The defense still played pretty good tonight. Coach Diaco is calling pretty good games and having an awesome game plan.

4. Our O-line isnt as good as we all thought it was. They need alot of work and need to get better. Our strong suite is supposed to be running the ball and we are avaerage.

5. Kyle was perfect in a big game and he was unphased.

To #4...rushing was ok until TR came in and they loaded the box...then it dropped

My questionnwas why almost exclusively Theo with Tommy GAIII disappeared Cierre fnaly got back in but rarely...didn't see Toma for relif valve short catch either

Our OL isn't nearly as good as I thought before the season. Trying to figure out why. Maybe Heistand isn't as good as we thought?
I think there's a few factors:

1. Our running game has been disappointing, but the pass protection has been fabulous all season.

2. Teams have been loading up against the run, especially with Golson at the helm. With Rees in the game, we were leading and playing conservative so Michigan still loaded the box if we weren't in 5-wide.

3. Mike Golic is clearly a weak link, and Lombard is still finding his way as a starter at this level. Full credit to Golic though: he made a great pulling block on that last big Riddick run.

I think the D-line was holding position (gaps), keeping Golson in front of them at all costs.

Guess it worked . Had to be hard as hell to do that.

Did you watch the 3rd quarter? Michigan didn't have 11:00+ minutes of possession because the battle for the line of scrimmage was a draw.

This is a chicken/egg deal. They were tired from bailing out our pathetic offense all night. I already conceded that, for a time they were less than stellar. They were THE reason we won, I simply do not understand how we could have without their performance. If we figure out how to convert a first down and keep them off the field they would dominate like they did for 3 quarters.

Got to find the open receivers. If we hit them tonight, we have at leat 14 more points on the board.

Kind of an ugly win, but I'll take it with such a young secondary.

D and special teams will be key all season.

Can't wait wait for trip to OU...it'll be a wild one.

1. Great overall gritty performance

2. Tommy is our "relief pitcher" so to speak, Kelly stated that he's sticking with Golson, but it's nice to have Tommy in a pinch for consistency and ball control (kind of ironic)

3. Manti ****ing Te'o the Heisman hype is starting to seem real

4. How about the young secondary?!

Manti Te'o - four years ago I came here and i didn't know why - know I know why. It's very humbling the support I've received.

Really got to love that right there.

The defense is one angry animal.
Our RB's are, as a group, some of the best in the nation.
If we had a way to mold Rees and Gholson into one person, we'd be a very strong NC contender (as is, we're at least a wild card for it).
Now that Clemson and especially OU lost, we should be inside the Top Ten next poll. How nice of a feeling is that?!

imo it's pretty clear that coach kelly doesn't trust cierre with ball security or running between the tackles.

Not convinced we are a top 10 team. Need a ton of work on Offense. Almost felt like we took a step back in this game.

with that said raise your hand if you thought we'd be 4-0 going into the bye week.

1. Zeke Motta is a stud. He is everywhere on the field, and the hardest hitter on our team. (I remember when people said he was too slow to play D1 football after the Navy game.)

2. Kelly needs to get the play in quicker. We can't waste timeouts and penalties...ridiculous.

3. STAY WITH GOLSON. WE DON'T NEED REES. This whole QB situation is just draining Golson's confidence. 2 man QB systems do NOT work. Rees has hit his ceiling, there's no more improving for him athletically. The only way to cure Golson's inexperience is to give him more playing time. Plain and simple.

4. We bend but we don't break. 1/5 in the redzone for Michigan? Very nice.

5. Theo is an animal. He can turn a 1 yard carry into a 5 or 6 harder with his swiftness. Same with Wood.

6. We can beat every team on this schedule. Odds are it won't happen, but it isn't unlikely.

7. O line needs to improve between the tackle run blocking. It was jammed all night

8. Michigan's LB's are very, very good. No one said anything about how well they played against our O tonight. They were plugging the holes amazingly.

Defense was outstanding, yet again. They held Michigan to fewer points than Alabama. That's saying a lot.

The offense struggled but you got to give credit to Michigan's defense. That's a good group on the other side. Fix things in the bye week and get ready for Miami.

Bottom line is we got the win and finally beat Michigan. It feels good to be an Irish fan.

One last thought:

There are no words to describe Manti Teo. He's everything you want in a student athlete. He represents this university with so much class and dignity. What a game by him. Go home young man and see you're family.

Right. I know we are all very happy with the defensive effort; you have to be happy when you hold Shoelace to 6 points. But what is going on with the offense?? Apparently we still don't have a QB. And we really struggled to run the ball. Michigan does not have a great DL. If we had the OL I thought we had we would have been able to push the Skunkbears around. Very disappointed in the rushing game

The Good: The Defense is amazing. Nuff said. The dread I felt last season whenever crunch time came around is gone.

The Bad: I dont know Im up in the air with bringing in Rees. The growing pains Golson is suffering through will be helped with more GAME EXPERIENCE. The red zone int deserved a sit down, but idk about the rest of the game. He could have handed off the ball just like TR did the rest of the game...

If Golson gets shaken up a bit playing a good D and is afraid he is going to get pulled he will just play MORE conservatively... as the season goes on are we just dragging this out??? I'm afraid by the time SC and a bowl game comes around this might still be a problem and Rees just is not going to beat top D's I'm sorry...

1. Tommy Rees called, he said all of you haters can "SUCK IT!"

2. This is a HUGE monkey off of the team's back. They finally slew the dragon that had been Denard Robinson.

3. Our front 7 got pushed around pretty good, tonight. I'm going to venture to say that they are damned good, but probably not as good as we all hoped they were.
4. Theo Riddick! Excellent game!

Huh?.........................I am speechless, and so are others. Did scUM score a TD? no. They contained Renard Dobinson all night. Forced 6 turnovers. What more do you want?

Kelly had to bring Tommy in because Golson was struggling.Good call because he engineered all the points.

Start Golson but if he isnt getting it done then you have Tommy.
