Just got back from camping at Chain-O-Lakes in Indiana.....got pounded with the storm in a damn tent!

Came back home and watched the game already knowing ND lost. Watching the game, I really enjoyed it. ND was moving the ball at times with absolute ease. Then the mistake after mistake after mistake after mistake after mistake occurred and USF took advantage of it. The D looked great too. Gave up some plays but got composed and took care of their offense.

I'm upset that ND had to lose but I'm happy with the way they played. They cut out the turnovers and penalties it would have been a blowout.

Coach Kelly and Co. as well as the team captains have to dust off this week and come hard after Michigan because people are already talking about them being nothing (it's the first week!!).

I was happy that Dayne was the starter for the team. After watching the game, I'm ok if CK goes with Tommy....I can say I'm a firm believer.

That had more to do with questioning your moderating "abilities" and logic.

Is this the same mind where you incorrectly believed I felt I was innocent? Because if so we've already proved that's not a reliable source for information.

It's actually the same mind who figured out you didn't have a blog but yet you kept pretending that you had one without actually bothering to show proof. Of course, my mind makes mistakes all the time, like the time I gave you the benefit of the doubt and figured you'd be cool when I only banned you a week instead of giving you what you deserved. And of course, 24 hours after coming back you're only here to cause trouble and scream for attention, and I'm getting PMs laughing at you and begging for a mercy banning so they can enjoy their Labor Day in peace.

As I've already covered I'm very unique and special.

You're 'uniquely' not posting here for awhile, so I guess you're right. I look forward to when you come back from another (this time, extended) vacation...maybe you'll last 2 days! Guarantee though, you'll make up a username (jayrock has already been taken by you, errrrr, by someone else) and come right back here begging for attention.

Then again, what in the world are we going to do without your 'series' that you're trying to promote? kmoose, any answers????

Disagreement with mods = ban.

Disagreement with the mods is fine. I've had a few of them, myself. Acting like a superior a$$hole, and being an attention whore, is what got that guy banned. And it sounds like it wasn't permanent.

What I wrote above:

(jayrock has already been taken by you, errrrr, by someone else)

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! The second Timer gets banned, his name magically disappears from the box stating which members are online (banned members names still show up when they log on, even if they are banned), and his sock puppet jayrock magically shows up to defend. Embarrassing LOL.

Listen Timer, or jayrock or whatever you want us to call you, you can disagree with me all you want...that will never get you a ban. You got banned for continually getting personal with Lax when he told you to chill, and I told you to chill as well. Gave you a chance, and now you're bagging on me (my mind, my abilities) and other posters' posts (calling them 'half-assed' compared to yours). What do you want, a cookie? Do you need a tissue b/c I merged your thread with 5 others on the same topic? Grow up, and be better when you come back as jayrock. Simple.

I am weak, and haven't had the heart to watch ESPN yet. What did they have to say about our loss? Did they say we beat our selves, or more of the ND doesn't have the athletes b.s.? What's they're outlook? (I am one of those fans that can't watch the major sports channels unless ND wins lol)

on college football live they just talked about ND, pretty much said everything that could have went wrong for ND went wrong. But ND still put up lots of yard and held usf to very few... they said ND is still a very good team.

Simply grading a Win versus a Loss than F it is.

Grading the body of work, I doubt he watched the game.

Offense Yds: 500+
100 Yd Rusher: Yes
100 Yd Receiver: ONE
Defense Yds Allowed: 250
Defense Scoring allowed: 1 TD
Opponent 100 yd rusher: No
Opponent 100 yd receiver: No

ND Turnovers: -5 (F)
ND Penalties: C. There were ominous overtones to ND's 4 "Personal Fouls". Smith had two face masks. Watch the replays, both were when he was reaching at a dodging runner. Each time he quickly let go. Penalties, YES! Egregious, NO! A few years ago they would have been 5 yarders. Gray got a "late hit" out of bounds. Watch the replay the ball carrier was skirting the sideline trying to tightrope down the line. He was less than 6 inches out of bounds when hit by a defender coming across the field. Penalty, YES! Egregious, NO! Ethan Johnson's late hit was a different story. The ball carrier was down. He ran at him and did a half flip lowering his shoulder into the guy on the ground. Penalty, YES! Egregious, YES! Stupid, YES!

In one of the post game explosion of threads one fan noted USF had played a clean game while noting ND's personal fouls. Others noted ND's higher yardage. Smith's face masks were inadvertent, USF's weren't. On one play at the goal line an ND receiver on the left cut inside. The defender realizing he was beaten for a score grabbed the receiver's face mask and jerked him around taking him out of the play. Probably considered a smart defensive play by his coach as he was beaten at the line. But an egregious foul none the less. As for the yardage, USF would have exceeded ND's total as they had more fouls BUT most of theirs was in the Red Zone so they only got accessed Half The Distance.

ND should always run the panic down 10 points with 2 mins left offense, they play like all stars during that time

Observations

I know everyone is on the Tommy Rees bandwagon and I also am intrigued but here are some of my comparisons of the two in the game.

Dayne made about 3 bad throws/decisions. He missed Riddick on what could have been a big play in the first quarter. The INT in the endzone was a terrible decision. He misfired on one or two other passes.

Rees made some great throws but also made some terrible decisions. Everyone is letting him off the hook for the INT to TJ Jones because Jones didn't turn his head but even if he turns his head it's at best a 2 yard gain. I also thought a big play was the 3rd and goal before Ruffer missed the 30-yard field goal. I thought he totally screwed up on that play and and misread it. The screen was open right away and would've been a TD if he hit him earlier. Also, and i think this is what drives me crazy about Rees, is how casual and slow he is in the 2-minute drill. He has no sense of urgency and not ability to run plays fast. He's not a freshman anymore; it shouldn't be that hard to run the play. In the fourth quarter, even the drives we scored on took so long because Rees needed so much time to get things set up.

I also feel--and I haven't seen anyone mention this--but the timeout before the 2-point conversion was a killer. To be honest, that timeout was much more valuable than a 5-yard delay of game penalty.

I think overall Rees showed more promise in his half than Dayne did, but let's not forget both made 2-3 really bad decisions that led to our defeat. Rees did make a few spectacular throws though.

I'll support Kelly on whoever he goes with but i just think it's absurd to make Crist a scapegoat for the loss.

I care not about making people scapegoats for something irretrievably in the past, but I DO care about the future. To make such best guess decisions, Kelly has the recent past to work with.

Crist [shoulda had...i.e. whatever play we called if the Jonas fumble didn't occur + the "seven" from Mike's micro-hold] = 14.
Rees [shoulda had...i.e. Ruffer's FG] =23.
Crist [actual] = 0.
Rees [actual] = 20.
Crist yards = c.200 [half by Cierre Woods running].
Rees yards = c.300 [passing almost entirely].

Kelly was asked why he shifted QBs. He did not say because I blame Dayne Crist as a scapegoat [a useless way of thinking about things], but rather simply "production". I find Coach's logic very difficult to gripe about.

Ha ha, 3 people told me you were a troll and I didn't want to buy it, giving you the benefit of the doubt even after you claimed your allegiance to Indiana or Purdue or whatever school you love this week. But now you admit it, and as you know this isn't a site for trolls. See ya soon when you make up a new handle...

Crist isn't the scapegoat. In fact, I think it's more about the coach than Crist. There were so many errors. The team clearly wasn't mentally ready. We seemed to not recover from the Jonas mistake. But Crist isn't the answer. We need a better solution. This was a home game...

I think our offense is looking for a leader, MF can't be the leader because so much is out of his control.

When things are ugly, the team looks behind center for confidence and support. When they see Reese, they see a cool/calm collected man who is determined to win.

When they see Dayne, they see a scared, rattled, and nervous player who is scared to death to screw up. If we pick up on his body language, I am sure the team does.

I think thats where Rees is huge, he keeps the herd unrattled.

We are still a vulnerable, and young team that is learning how to win.
