1. Screw the spread, screw the committee. Just win, baby! And we did. Not the prettiest win, but still a convincing one.

2. Wake Forest had 4 trips inside the Red Zone, coming away with one score; a touchdown. ND had 2 trips inside the Red Zone, coming away with two scores; both touchowns. Winning the Red Zone is a nice improvement for this team.

3. ND played a lot of young guys, which might explain some of the struggles. Also, looking at the participation report, it looks like a lot of the seniors got a chance to get in, as well. Guys like Turner, Ossello, Cavalaris, Daly; all got reps tonight.

4. Considering that we started a true freshman RB, putting up 28 points is not such a bad thing. I'm sure they COULD have done better, but they did win rather easily. Which leads me into my next observation:

5. It seems like this offense sometimes goes into "cruise mode", when they get an early lead. The coaches don't seem to let it last that long, but it does seem like it allows opponents an opportunity to keep it closer than it should be.

6. The Offensive Line seemed to have an off night. It seemed like I saw a lot more D Linemen in the backfield than at any other time this year. But, again, I think that might have been a little bit of sleepwalking, once they got the lead.

7. The ND Club of NENY had a GREAT game watch. They had a "dj" there, to provide all of the sounds that you would hear at the stadium, minus Crazy Train. Played the fight song after each touchdown; played the 1812 Overture at the start of the 4th Q. I told them, "If you really want to simulate the stadium experience, you should pair everyone up, and make each pair share one chair."

My game ball goes to...... you have to give it to Josh Adams. Longest run from scrimmage in ND history.

Is this the "this was good, this was bad, yaddah yaddah" post game thread or the "if averages aren't to the tenth of a yard you can GTFO" post game thread?

A win is a win. Also, the telecast is near impossible to listen to. Who is doing the game next week?

Once Adams gets to the second level he's great. He doesn't have the initial vision or quickness yet. Kinda the anti-Folston. OL was pretty bad today though so idk how CJ would have been.

I was surpised that we didn't look Fuller's way more.

There were some plays where they had him triple teamed

They flat out decided they were going to make us earn it and give up no big plays and we were sloppy in our execution all day

Just happy to get the win

That whole sequence in the 4th where it took them 70 hours to decide that there wasn't a penalty, after they announced that there WAS a penalty, was irritating.

4. Considering that we started a true freshman RB, putting up 28 points is not such a bad thing. I'm sure they COULD have done better, but they did win rather easily. Which leads me into my next observation: DIDN'T THINK IT WAS AN EASY WIN

Just want to make sure before I post.

*it was a joke in regards to the catfight last week over the post game thread

Gotcha. No offense, but I don't care for the division, either. I did, however, take exception to someone questioning why I did something that I have done almost every single week of the season for the last 6 years. I don't own the post game thread. And I don't have to start it. The only issue I have is when people try to make it look like I think I do own it, or try to insinuate that I am just ripping off someone else's idea.

My Observations:

1. Great stiff arm by Josh Adams to break that long run. Also, great downfield blocking from the WR.

2. Thought the OL struggled today. With a 98 yd run, thought Adams would have been well over 150. Don't think he got there.

3. If teams are hoping that a RB is going to pick up Jaylon Smith in blitz protection, good luck. He made them look dumb all night.

4. It seemed like the plan was to make sure Chris Brown got his catches. He only had a few, but was targeted many times which probably led to the limited catches for Fuller.

5. Greer Martini did a very good job in relief of Onwalu. Good enough to earn a start next even if #17 is healthy.

6. The ACC has a real problem with officiating on their hands. After a few questionable PI calls that were suspect, the roughing the snapper was laughable. Then, the Personal Foul that was eventually picked up and letting Clausen completely berate them and coming way too far on the field was completely awful. The credibility of these refs is zero.

7. With a lack of depth at the QB position, I thought Kizer took way to many unnecessary hits late in the game. Too many straight QB runs for my liking. If there is one player they can't afford to lose right now, its him.

Ugly win.
OL had some issues.
Kizer got hit too much.
Several runs for losses.
Defense did a good job keeping them out of the endzone and getting after the QB.
No turnovers for us.
Nobody got hurt.

Edit: forgot Onwualu

Kizer didn't play his bes game.

Adams is so good at getting North/South.

Dline was in the backfield a ton.

As ugly as it was we won.

Gonna miss a few of these guys the next few years.

Its awesome to be in November and the field not looking like shit.

A win is a win. It is not always impressive.. I don't care who says it. I'll take the W, but neither the D or O played well. OL sucked and DBs looked lost.

Honestly with almost every other top team other than Alabama struggling I don't think a 21 point game that was never in doubt will really hurt us. I didn't get to watch it due to being at work but I kept up with the game online.

Was it pretty? Not from the look of it, but I'll take "ugly" 21 point wins in November all day long. All we can do is keep winning. Keeping posting W's on the board and see what happens.

What about Onwualu? Did they say he was cool or what?

At least is appears that no one is bitching about Joe this week. Definitely played better. It was a Diacoesque bend but don't break D performance.

The team was so lazy today. Unenthusiastic, no emotion or excitement. They didn't take Wake Forest seriously.

It's too bad the backups couldn't get game experience. Again.

I think the site gets busier when we are arguing with each other over who looked bad and who didn't. Joe has been a lightning rod most of the season but not tonight. I could watch the game again and see how many times he couldn't get off a block but that game was too ugly. Our D is getting into the backfield regularly but loses containment. Their best plays were broken ones.

1. Joe Schmidt played a great game, at least from what I could see. I was at the game so didn't have the benefit of replay, but he seemed to be disrupting Wake an awful lot, had a few pressures, and really did a good job in pursuit to the edges, which had not been great so far this season.

2. That Josh Adams run though. I don't know what was more badass: the stiff arm after already shaking off one defender, or the receivers blocking down field. Why not both? Yes, both were more badass.

3. The receivers didn't help Kizer much today. I was sitting halfway up right in the middle of the endzone, so we could see the plays unfolding down field. A few of Kizer's scrambles should have turned into huge pass plays, but the receivers didn't do a great job of moving to mirror his scrambles. There was a big one early where he stepped up and slid right, and Fuller (?) was sitting down in center field. If Fuller moves toward the rollout like he's supposed to, he might score.

4. My section was great. We stood for a majority of the game, and no one complained or asked for "down in front." Everyone simply stood up and got loud instead.

5. Even for a game against Wake, the stadium got pretty loud at times. The construction is definitely trapping some noise, and that's cool.

6. It seemed like BVG didn't have Okwara line up as a traditional DE once in the second half. He was at backer a few times and then "blitzed" late, he lined up over the slot once or twice and then crashed in. I liked the mix, and it allowed Day and Okwara to attack the same gap a few times. That will be useful at a later date.

7. Martini was lined up over slot receivers a lot tonight. It seemed like BVG wanted to see what they could do with base personnell, rather than subbing a nickle in. He did a good job of blowing up some blockers on WR screens, so maybe that was the idea.

8. I felt like I recognized someone from the photo thread taking a picture in front of the golden dome, but I wasn't sure so I didn't want to speak up. Any of you guys there with your significant other, wearing a green SS jersey?
