Gotta hand it to you, you don't disappoint. What does a guy, who spent all last year defending the play of Joe Schmidt, do after he graduates? Apparently, defend the worst DC in Notre Dame's history. I wish his defenses could defend as well as you. You interested in a new job?

Defending BVG, huh?

5. If VanGorder has any home improvement projects that he wants to get done, to increase the resale value of his house; I think he should probably get on them, and get on them quick.

I think VanGorder is probably gone at the end of the season, if not before.

Hmmm......... maybe I DO defend as well as the ND Defense!!

Imagine if we had injuries up front what this'd look like. Our front 7 and OL has actually been unscathed, spare Jay Hayes who missed the Texas game and Treadway, who really wouldn't have impact yet anyways.

If we had lost Rochelle versus Nevada do you know what Saturday would have looked like.

Bingo. I really thought our front 7 on defense would be elite this year and, so far, has fallen way below our expectations. No sacks through 3 games, hardly any QB pressures, and lots of missed tackles and offensive lines having their way with us. And, unlike, previous years we don't even have any injuries yet to these guys.

Really? Elite? What - beside a couple pitchers of preseason Kool Aid - would give you that expectation? We weren't great last year and lost Day and Jaylon. This year we had one guy - Rochell - in the front seven with both experience and top-end talent. And he's hardly, say, Stephon Tuitt. Maybe Jarron Jones but apparently he can only manage like 20 plays a game. The rest of them are either potential-but-green (Morgan, Coney, Tillery, both Hayes) or playing to the best of limited ability (Onwualu, Martini, Cage). Or they just suck (Trumbetti.)
I think our front seven would be decent. And I think they will get better. There's a lot of talent there. But expecting elite right now would be just asking for disappointment, IMO.

Inexcusable. Just plain sad.

No sacks through 3 games and we haven't even played a QB yet. Like, we can't even confuse a true freshman with a high school OL into a sack.

Do we know what the completion % is for opposing QB's to go along with the no sacks? QB knock downs? QB hurries? fumbles caused? I know we got two whopping semi fluke ints so far any other non positive statistic that BVG can point to when explaining why his defense is actually not among the worst at ND in our memory and I'm including 2007!

9.2 wins a season INCLUDING bowls is wayyyyyyyyy too low. 9.2 WITH bowls would be too low IMO.

I couldn't agree more.

For comparison see below:
