I don’t know what denomination Graham is
or if he’s even religious at all, but he strikes me as your stereotypical Southern Baptist. You know, growing up in New Orleans, most of my family and friends are Catholic. You’d have the occasional WASPY Episcopalian, Anglican or maybe a Lutheran sprinkled in here and there, but that was pretty much it. I went to graduate school in Nashville, home of the Southern Baptist Convention, and was surprised at how different or ignorant both sides were of the other (Catholicism and Protestantism).

I take Graham’s tweet as an obvious joke …. it’s a little in poor taste, but a joke.

It's not real. There is literally only one requirement to be selected as pope and he does not meet that sole requirement. You have to be a baptized Catholic.

Technically there are more than that. Must be male too, and unmarried. Oh, and have the ability to use reason. But yeah point remains.

What is the proper Catholic response when the previous administration floods the country with 15 Million+ migrants over a 4 year period against the will of the public, at a cost of $70 Billion a year of taxpayer money and increased crime? Are we supposed to go “ah well they are already here” in perpetuity?

Should we allow in 30 million? 75 million? 200 million? I get where Francis is coming from (be kind to those in need etc) but at some point a line in the sand has to be drawn.

Graham served in the military for quite awhile as a young man and has been in Congress - i.e. lived in Washington - for 30 years. Even if he was raised Southern Baptist, I'm sure he knows lots of Catholics.

The whole Trump for Pope thing's just an absurdist joke, and Trump kinda rolls with it. One of the (very few) things I appreciate about the man is he has a sense of humor and doesn't take himself too seriously. Except for when he does, of course.

I'd say "distraction" more than joke. Obfuscating executive expansion and administrative failures by overwhelming the public's attention span with the absurd has been a calling card of his political career. I would advise anyone who wants to express outrage or glee at things like this or the "Gulf of America" to not take the bait.

Can someone familiar with this game shed light on this for me? The last sentence from this article says “Age is also a factor, with the last two conclaves opting for older popes to ensure shorter pontificates.”

Then, like CNN has turned into 247, we get a list with headshots and short bios. But they’re all 65+ plus. Are the authors saying the cardinals want to choose an older pope or a younger one?

The voting itself was suppose to be between 1-1:30 Eastern time 7:00-7:30 Vatican time. But then they tally everything and then burn them. so 3pm isnt crazy. I think it the smoke is usually between 2:00-2:30

CNN has absolutely no clue what the college of cardinals want and during the last conclave not one news source had Pope Francis as a front runner.

basically the papacy swings back and forth between a couple of factions and often a faction will let the other side have a go as long as their guy is old AF and likely to be dead soon. This happened with Francis but he ended up living 12 years so that kind of backfired. Think of democrats and republicans here lol taking turns to govern.
