So when does history no longer count? What's the expiration date on your side's racist behavior? I get that the Left doesn't want to face their history of firehoses, segregation, dogs, skull cracking, George Wallace & Robert Byrd, the Klan and so on, but exactly how does this work that YOUR history is no longer relevant or to be acknowledged, but everyone else's is? Is it a sliding scale or is there a particular date, or do you just use whatever point in time is most helpful to you at the moment?

Oh it's relevant for sure, that's why one side wants it taught in school and the other shirks at that thought. Learn from that past behaviour. But when we're looking at who the racists today love it's quite obvious.

Also, I find it a tad ironic you bring up George Wallace - as if you weren't and on here full throating him not too long ago.
Here's the funny thing about him, though. By most accounts, Wallace wasn't particularly racist. His history as a lawyer and judge show him to be very fair and non-racist, and even in the '60s there was a well-known story of Wallace (who'd been a good amateur boxer in his youth) defending a black kid who was being bullied by a white kid, bloodying the bully's nose. During his administration in the '60s, he did a lot of things that were helpful to Blacks. He seemed to shout racist and segregationist stuff in public, but act very differently behind the scenes and with many of his policies. One school of thought is that Wallace was not really a racist or a segregationist, but did what the money men and power brokers who put him in office demanded. Another is that was genuinely in favor of segregation, but he believed Blacks should be treated much better and more fairly, with equal opportunities, rights, etc..

In the '70s, he renounced his former ways and the black community appears to have accepted his apology. In '82 he was elected governor again, getting a large majority of the Black vote. Amazing stuff, given his public stances less than 20 years before. During this term, Bama elected its first black homecoming queen and it's traditional for the governor to crown her on the field during halftime. When Wallace placed the crown on her head, he pulled her down closer to him (he was in a wheelchair) and whispered something to her. She later said he'd complimented and congratulated her, and then told her that this was the best moment of his entire political career and thanked her for letting him be part of it. He was complicated.

Political parties change. What is so difficult to understand about that? Today’s Democratic and Republican parties are nothing like they were 60 years ago. Racists used to be Democrats and now they’re Republicans.

If it bothers you that your party is the party of Nick Fuentes, David Duke, and MTG then why don’t you do something about it? Why don’t your leaders do something about it? Is it because a sizable number of Republicans like it the way it is?

That's interesting. The Democrats are the ones who funnel Blacks into housing projects and ghettos, 100% control the schools in those areas (you know, the schools that are hopelessly violent and understaffed and provide little to no education), control the police forces that, by your claim, harass and abuse Blacks, and you treat them like children who can't succeed without good-hearted white liberals rescuing them and showing them the way... and then you claim your opponent is the racist today. Uh huh. Yeah.

As for Wallace, do you understand the difference between explaining something and defending it? Do you understand the difference between what a person believes and what they do for political reasons? Even if you don't, he was still a Democrat throughout his entire career. Stop spinning and deflecting about the Left's ugly history of racism. You folks lecturing anyone else about racism is like a crackhead telling a pothead, "You need to get your life together."

You know I'm a progressive right? They typically don't like what the democrats are doing (See: Brandon and Kammy). I don't agree with the majority of things they're doing BUT they do have a small contingent who advocate for progressive items. Literally all the points you noted, I agree with being issues with the party. I'll take the party that serves corporate donors with a sprinkle of progressive items vs the party that serves corporate donors that taps into white fright to win elections.

"By most accounts, Wallace wasn't particularly racist" - So how can he be this big bad boogeyman and yet you believe he wasn't a racist? Either - he's a racist SOB who was a democrat, or he wasn't. Literally no spin, pointed out you chortling at how Wallace was a democrat (which we've all acknowledged were the party racists loved) and yet months earlier were offering up points on how he wasn't that bad.

We face and reject those that still espouse those views. Robert Byrd was a member of the KKK when he was 18. When I was 18 I was conservatives/libertarian and would have agreed with, probably all, of you views.

People change.

Still waiting on you to explain why Trent Lott became a Republican. Since, he clearly didn't change his views, why did he join the Republican party and not the Democratic Party?

I don't think anyone objects to history being taught. I think the disconnect is how it applies today and what can be done and the conclusions that come out of that. Equality has been replaced with Equity. Welfare programs are not enough so we hear about reparations. States and cities already using COVID money or planning to for their equity agenda.

I like what Jordan Peterson was saying about calling racism and not painting with such broad strokes. We need to call it specifically and call them out by name and offense. When we fight over "Which party was the most racist" back then and then fight over "Which party is the most racist" now I think we are painting the picture too broad... who is being racist? What policy is racist? You ask most people what institutional racism is they are very vague and broad... asking what and who they don't have an answer. I know I am vastly oversimplifying things but there has to be a better way to pinpoint what the actual problems are. Until then we will just be throwing inequitable stats at each other and because there is inequity there has to be racism. I guess to me it's a very flawed system. I have less money therefore something external is the problem. My vertical is smaller therefore there must be an external force creating this inequitable athleticism. We have higher standards for buying lottery tickets than we do in our voting system and it's the name of equity and racism.

Joe Biden is the most racist dipshit in DC by a pretty fair margin, IMO. However, I am more concerned with his policies than I am his pedo, racist tendencies. Just like Trump is a complete douche but I really care about his policies more than his egomaniacal ways. I get how labeling someone a racist is a simpleton effort to discredit but more often than not it only highlights the accuser as the one who can only view the world through a lens of race.

Dem policies work to keep blacks on the plantation - the bigotry of low expectations runs deep on that side of the aisle. Clarence Thomas is exceptional, not because he is black, but because he is an excellent jurist who rose to the top from very modest means. American dream has always been alive and well - telling generations they can't win b/c of the color of their skin or gender or sexual preference is just wrong.

But keep on labeling everyone you disagree with a racist - great way to win friends and influence people.

The difference is Wallace's personal views and behavior, including his actions as a judge, compared to the views he espoused and the behavior he exhibited when running for and serving as governor during the '60s were often completely opposite of each other. Surely you aren't shocked by the idea that politicians sometimes believe one thing, but say & do another in the name of politics and getting elected. We can understand that Wallace the person and Wallace the politician wasn't always the same. His public behavior and the segregationist views he espoused were as a prominent Democratic politician in order to get elected. Did he actually believe that stuff? Probably not.

Where does jprue24 label someone a racist just because he disagrees with them?

The only one I see doing that is you “Joe Biden is the most racist dipshit…but keep on labeling everyone you disagree with a racist” I guess you’re just a simpleton.

They are just trolling at this point - and probably from the beginning. Probably don't even have TDS like Cack and Toronto - just lazy trolls.
I'm not trolling.

I haven't labeled anyone a racist, so that must not be for me. I also wasn't talking about anyone currently in DC, so that isn't for me either. I didn't mention Biden or Democratic party platform and how it affected black people, so that must not be for me either.

Your response to my post looks like some mental copypasta poopourri of grievance aimed at the void, not at me.

But, you did respond to me and after reading it, seeing how little applied to what was in my comment, you must just be dumb (temporarily, I'm sure).

What don’t you understand? I.DON’T.CARE. Debating you is boring.
You're not debating me, mainly because you can't and never have. Not because you won't. But you would be debating with Drayer, since the examples I quoted were from him.

On the boring part, I can't think of anything more boring than calling someone names with zero substance to prove a point or state a case. It's childish. But hey, you do you.

Why are you so concerned with me and what I think about somebody else’s tweets? And why did you wait almost 24 hours to respond? Very odd behavior. I hope it didn’t take that long for you to form such a lame response.

I don't know if I would go as far as saying he is racist as much as he is playing to his base and playing racial politics more than any president, even Barack. He hired a woman he clearly does not like as VP and then filled and checked boxes along the way with other positions.

I agree that policies and even the welfare system keep those in poverty in poverty. I think we have changed from the idea of being productive and useful and contributing to society to the idea that everyone deserves the comforts this country has to provide. A firm believer in working smarter, not harder but we live in a work where we are taught the path of least resistance and if you cannot do it or if you fail then it's someone else's fault. We accommodate laziness and weakness. We reward nonproductive beahvior and many have learned being a victim is very lucrative. He who holds the biggest victim card…

You guys cried fascism for a whole day. Drayer posted numerous counter examples practiced and held by Democrats but you, Cack, and GoIrish41 came up silent. I'm taking his post and challenging you guys. If it isn't fascism, what then is it? How would you categorize these actions? I thought this would be an easy exercise. Doesn't have to be a 5 paragraph tirade. Just tell us what it is. Or just wave the white flag and say I've got nothing here.

It took me 24 hours to respond because I don't live on IE. I have a demanding job, a 6 month old baby, and a pregnant wife. Most of my time is dedicated there, not hitting refresh on IE every 5 minutes.

Odd behavior is yelling at strangers on the internet and calling them names because they don't align with your worldview.

You’re confusing me with another poster. I’ve never said anything about fascism on IE. Again, I don’t care to continue this conversation. I look forward to when you have 3 in diapers; you definitely won’t have time for IE.

Yeah - Joe isn't Archie Bunker at all.
