Anyone know her position on the 2A? I can't find anything she's written.

I don't know for sure, but Barrett clerked for Judge Laurence H. Silberman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, and once clerked for Justice Antonin Scalia.... both whom I believe were pro 2A

Senate passes farm bill, setting up food stamp battle with the House (Politico)

The Senate on Thursday easily passed its farm bill by a vote of 86-11, clearing the way for a conference committee to reconcile differences with the House's version of the sweeping agriculture and nutrition legislation.

The Senate's bipartisan support of the $867 billion bill, coming a week after the House passed its partisan measure by a margin of just two votes, gives Congress some leeway in its effort to deliver legislation to President Donald Trump to sign before the current farm bill expires on Sept. 30. Reauthorizing the farm bill on time is a priority in farm country, where a prolonged slump in commodity prices has more than halved net farm income in recent years and trade retaliation has already cut into some farmers’ bottom line.

Key differences between the House and Senate bills, primarily in regard to the food stamp program, farm subsidy caps and conservation initiatives, set up potentially contentious negotiations between the lawmakers who will be tasked with melding the two versions into one.

“We know conference committee is going to be a wild and woolly debate as we go forward on a number of things," Senate Agriculture ranking member Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) said on the floor earlier on Thursday.

Stabenow and Senate Agriculture Chairman Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) had spent months crafting a bill that would avoid the kind of regional fights that have bedeviled past efforts to pass the farm bill, or the partisan strife that nearly derailed the House version. The result is legislation, S. 3042 (115), that mostly maintains the status quo — with the exception of a controversial amendment from Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) that is aimed at cutting off commodity support payments to individuals who aren’t actually working on a farm day to day.

After the vote, both Stabenow and Roberts suggested the large margin of victory gives Senate leaders leverage in upcoming conference negotiations.

Ex-CNN producer blasts Jim Acosta for 'self-serving antics'

Ex-CNN producer blasts Jim Acosta for 'self-serving antics' | Fox News

A former CNN producer took to Twitter on Friday to blast Jim Acosta, the network’s White House correspondent, for what he called Acosta’s “self-serving antics,” saying they “give all good journalists a bad name.”

The posts by Steve Krakauer, a former senior digital producer for the network who is now is a top executive at Commerce House, a Dallas-based advertising firm, were prompted by a question that Acosta shouted to President Donald Trump on Friday during a White House event on the economy and tax cuts.

Trump used the event as an opportunity to extend condolences to the victims and survivors of Thursday’s tragedy at the offices of the Capital Gazette, where five employees were slain by a gunman who was later taken into custody.

Acosta tried to link the shooting to past criticisms that Trump had leveled toward members of the media, including calling them “the enemy of the people.”

As the audience applauded at the end of the president’s speech, Acosta shouted from the back of the room:

“Mr. President, will you stop calling us the enemy of the people, sir? Will you stop calling the press the enemy of the people, sir? Mr. President, will you stop calling the press the enemy of the people, sir?”

The question drew no response from Trump.

“Truly an embarrassment, on multiple levels,” Krakauer tweeted about Acosta’s performance.

He continued in a subsequent tweet: “On a day journalists could honor the memory of fellow reporters tragically killed due to a deranged person with a vendetta going back years, Acosta tries to shift the blame to Trump,” Krakauer wrote.

After the White House event, Acosta tweeted about his own performance: “I tried to ask the president if he would stop calling us the enemy of the people. He did not respond,” Acosta wrote.

He added: “We also had a few folks who shushed is in the audience. Of course we are not going to be shushed.”

Acosta is no stranger to controversy. Earlier in the week, the reporter drew shouts of “Go home!,” and “Fake news, Jim!” at a Trump rally in South Carolina.

One rallygoer, identified as Maria Rojas, personally confronted Acosta, telling him he doesn't respect the country.

“I do respect the United States, yes I do," Acosta told the woman in videos posted by an Associated Press reporter.

Anyone wanting more opportunity to make up their minds about Acosta can tune in Sunday to CNN’s “Reliable Sources” program, where host Brian Stelter is scheduled to interview his CNN colleague, Jim Acosta.

Michelle Wolfe apparently doesn't understand why she got called unhinged.

"Now is not the time to be hinged," Wolf said, telling people on both sides of the political spectrum to shove their argument about maintaining civility up their — well, you get the idea.

She said to lean into Maxine Waters' call to confront members of the Trump administration in public, but simply hurling insults isn't enough. "You have to make sure your words are life-alteringly hurtful," she explained. "You got to hit their deepest insecurities with the hot venom of a teenager from a broken home."

Looking for an example?

Take Wolf's words for Ivanka Trump: "First, call her Tiffany." Or, see Senator Mitch McConnell at a restaurant? "Take his chair away before he can sit down and say, 'How do you like having a seat stolen from you, you flop neck?'"

I guess when facts & reason don't support your position, just resort to name-calling, personal attacks, being hateful, and yelling loudly.

I love these people. Do they understand at all that they are helping the GOP by flipping their shit. Their antics do a great job of galvanizing the right. The more they fall out, the more GOP voters.... Flop neck... lol.

No, I don't think they have a clue. They live in such an insular, echo chamber world where the MSM, entertainment industry press, and the people who attend their events egg them on and tell them how brave and brilliant they are that they are absolutely oblivious to how this plays to the average person on the street. It's much like Hillary's deplorable comment: people who attended that event, the MSM, and her avid supporters loved it and that convinced her that she'd hit a homerun with it. Middle America... not so much. I agree that the more vile, angry, outlandish, violent, radical, and rude they act, the more it helps the Right. It pushed millions of undecided average people to Trump in 2016 and will continue to push them to the Right in coming elections.

That worries me too. The loss of civility and the ability to actually discuss issues with those you disagree with instead of spraying them with pepper spray, screaming at them, encouraging someone to kidnap their child, or threatening violence has probably made it just a matter of time before it happens. When you have a congresswoman and celebrities encouraging violence, harassment, and uncivil behavior to anyone they disagree with, it doesn't bode well for the future of our nation.

Yeah, this "resistance" nonsense has gotten so silly that your everyday dude can't take it seriously. But hey, if the Dems want to keep backing themselves up to the coasts and Chicago, go for it!

Small protest in downtown ATL today near the ICE center. It was "occupy"-like with tents, etc.. The cops asked them to remove the tents, they said no. They started hurling stuff at the cops including frozen water bottles. The cops hauled a bunch of people off and tore down the tents.

It's only a matter of time before shit goes bad.

The new mayor (Bottoms-D) is now "deciding" whether ATL will continue it's cooperation with ICE. Bottoms barely won last year edging her opponent by only around 700 votes.

They believe they are righteous. Attacking law enforcement in the South? That's a bold move, Cotton!

Yeah I won't be surprised if stuff gets ugly. It's already gotten out of hand a bit. These hippies in urban areas are playing with fire.

Same stuff (assaults) is being reported out in Oregon.

In ATL, half of them looked like they've been waiting for a cause to jump on for a while. Jobless Millennial SJWs if I had to guess. Have tent, will occupy. The earlier crowd was more diverse, but the over nighters looked like the man-bun and woman-dread crowd.

One guy had a sign that said, "I'm an illegal and I'm afraid to hold this sign". Doing that across the street from the ICE center is pretty dumb. He's be an easy pick up lol.

He certainly should be afraid to hold this sign. Would love to have his address or place of employment so I could report him haha

Things are going to get ugly and I want the record to clearly show which side has been using over the top violent rhetoric for the past 2 years, which side has been assaulting law enforcement, which side has been assaulting citizens attempting to attend political rallies, etc.

Democratic congresswoman Maxine Waters, calling for attacks on the Trump administration at a rally in Los Angeles Saturday: “If you see anybody from that Cabinet in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere.”

Police are investigating a politically motivated assault against a supporter of President Trump in a bohemian enclave of Washington, D.C.

According to a report on WTTG channel 5, the assault took place at a recent overnight outside Surfside restaurant in the 1800 block of N Street near Dupont Circle.

The restaurant’s surveillance cameras captured video of the suspects, both black women. D.C. police released the video and the Washington Fox affiliate posted it.

On Friday night, Wilkinson asked Sanders to leave the Virginia restaurant because of her connection to President Donald Trump.

"Last night I was told by the owner of Red Hen in Lexington, VA to leave because I work for @POTUS and I politely left," Sanders tweeted Saturday. "Her actions say far more about her than about me. I always do my best to treat people, including those I disagree with, respectfully and will continue to do so."

ith thousands of people already packed into stands and music blaring to warm up the crowd, Donald J. Trump’s campaign abruptly canceled his rally here on Friday night over security concerns as protesters clashed with his supporters inside an arena where he was to speak.

Minutes after Mr. Trump was to have taken to a podium on the campus of a large, diverse public university just west of downtown, an announcer suddenly pronounced the event over before it had begun. Hundreds of protesters, who had promised to be a visible presence here and filled several sections of the arena, let out an elated, unstopping cheer. Mr. Trump’s supporters, many of whom had waited hours to see the Republican front-runner, seemed stunned and slowly filed out in anger.

Around the country, protesters have interrupted virtually every Trump rally, but his planned appearance here — in a city run for decades by Democrats and populated by nearly equal thirds of blacks, Latinos and whites — had drawn some particularly incensed responses since it was announced days ago.

So you seriously believe this is a one sided issue?

Anyhow, two of the examples you cite as “violence” amount to a political hack being refused service at a restaurant and the other being someone saying mean things about the members of the current administration. I can assure you neither of those are precedent setting events.

In GA and Oregon, cops were assaulted this weekend. I don't see GOPers doing that kind of crap.

And harassing people and families as they eat or go to movies.... Do you really think that's acceptable behavior?

And per the left it's not OK to refuse service because of religious beliefs, but it is ok to refuse service because of political beliefs??? You don't see any hypocrisy in that?

Yeah...conservatives have never committed acts of violence against law enforcement. Give me a break.

Yes, telling dirtbag politicians they suck to their face is completely acceptable. Go to a public meeting some time during the public comment period. People say way meaner stuff all the time. That’s the price of being a public servant and has been a part of our nations politics since the countries inception.

She was not refused service for her “beliefs” she was refused service in part because of the current administration’s and the GOP’s enacted policies. Big difference.

I don't recall conservatives during the Obama years hurling shit at cops because of his policy. I could be wrong. Any examples?

Harassing a person's family at a movie theater is a bit different than speaking out at a public meeting. Public meetings are part of work, and you expect opposition. Going to the movies with your kids is different. I'm actually surprised that you think it's the same.

Political beliefs, her job, whatever you want to call it. She was refused service for her beliefs or profession. It's complete hypocrisy however you look at it.

Refusing Sanders service is fine... the business getting whatever public backlash for it is fine too.

Actively seeking out people just so you can harass them is bullshit on either side and shame on anyone ‘yeah but”ing that away. Every lib in here would have lost their collective minds had Ryan called for conservatives to basically stalk Pelosi and harass her everywhere they could during the health care debacles... and rightfully so.

You don’t remember the standoff at the National Wildlife refuge in Oregon? Why limit this to the “Obama” or “Trump” years?

I think people make a choice when they decide to run for office to be open to criticism from the public whenever and wherever. If they find that to be too much they can choose not to run for office or serve in a particular administration.

Beliefs and actions are quite different. So yes, that distinction is rather important.

I’m not what abouting at all. Case in point Willie Brown caught a rash of shit (rightfully so in my opinion) everywhere he went in San Francisco when he was mayor. He understood that was part of the job and to his credit usually engaged with those who were calling him out. He sure as hell didn’t hold a press conference and try to make himself into a victim. I believe all politicians should understand that with the power they wield they should be ready for criticism at all times.
