Not exactly. The Tea Party people are for the principles espoused in the founding documents. So, they're not against government per se, just against government over-reach beyond its defined roles within said documents.
Additionally, to Buster, they're for individual rights, not for the corporatism. The corporate cronies that reside in both the D and R political party establishment dislikes this - for example, just look at their position on immigration - corporations want cheap labor even though there are plenty of people in the US that are out of work.
I would just like this solved because having to work and not getting paid is not fun.
WAAAAAAAA!!! Government has shut down!
Big Brother can't provide for the zero liablity voters!!!! WAAAAAA
Dude, how has this affected your life? Do you REALLY think the world is coming to an end?
Guess all those crazy preppers were on to something...LOL
Then they will lose the public. Nobody want's gun legislation. Wildly unpopular.

It is so nice to see that you are so concerned about the future of the republican party! I always love this whenever I see this kind of thing especially on a network like MSNBC. You have a group of D's sitting around sounding so concerned for the R's future. You would think they would be more like "you go for it guys...can't wait til the next election as we'll be in power for 1000 years! Later Suckers!"
Its not as if people don't want to work. They have been sent home. Those who are working for compensation to be named later are kinda taking it on the chin as well ... and they, too, are taxpayers. This whole shutdown is a huge joke.
Obviously? That's my whole point. This f*cking Congress and this "shut down" makes no sense.
I was talking to a friend who works at the DoJ on Saturday and he said the most absurd thing is that he is basically banned from even setting foot in his office. They wouldn't allow him to work even if he wanted to. Why? Why if he wants to work and he knows he's going to get paid is he not allowed to work? In what universe does that make any sense at all?
It's really one of the most @ss-backwards things I've ever seen. The solution to the budget being out of whack and a large debt... is to send people home, refuse to let them work, close all of the parks, events, and everything else (many of which MAKE money... at least the football got approved), don't pay them so there is an immediate tangible drag on the economy... and then cut a big fat check for all the lost man hours where no work was performed.
That's right... the solution to an unbalanced budget is to f*ck with your workforce, produce nothing, and then cut the normal check anyways. Shaking. My. Damn. Head. Only the US Government could come up with something like this. At least there was a small, tiny shred of logic to a "shut down" if you were cutting cost due to no operating budget. This isn't a "shut down"... this is forced vacation with deferred compensation, and everyone loses unless you're a non-essential employee with enough money in the bank that missed paychecks don't matter.
Government shutdown, has not but if we default on our debt, then it will affect my life as well as many other people's. Social Security checks will come late, Military members will get their checks late, hospitals will have to wait for reimbursements, there will probably also be some mass furloughs at government contractors, not to mention that interest rates very well could skyrocket.
I agree with everything you said. I don't get your logic that the "government is idiotic, so everyone who works for the government must be an idiot" though. Government workers are being used as pawns in a stupid game.
I would just like this solved because having to work and not getting paid is not fun.
Then they will lose the next election cycle. That's how the system works. When you are in a minority, you don't get to call the shots. Because the far right doesn't understand that, we find ourselves in the position we are in with a million out of work and staring down default.

I simply do not trust elected federal officials in any branch to work in the overall best interest of the United States.
WOAH! Screw that.
Why the hell do you have to show up?
Exactly. 1700s here we come because everything was right in the world back then. What a joke.
I laughed out loud. Where do you think all of the money flowing into the Tea Party comes from?
Also the idea that the people in the tea party care any more about the founding documents is based on what? That they say that they care more about it? If they gave a **** about the constitution (while not part of the original) they wouldn't be ****ing around with the debt ceiling. Look if you think the government is spending too much it should be handled with appropriations bills. Lets see what happened this past year. The House passed legislation and the Senate passed legislation. Democrats appointed people to the conference committee but Republicans refused too (and got called out by one of their own for not doing it) and purposefully took us to this point hoping that they would have more leverage and thus could extract more from the Democrats.
So my thoughts are raise the debt limit clean and pass a clean CR. Then go to a ****ing conference committee to combine the original House and Senate bills. It is what should have been done all along.
WOAH! Screw that.

Your strawman argument is the joke.
Such static thinking - because the principles set forth back then were so bad that they created the most technologically advanced and prosperous nation in the history of the world.
Only in your simple mind would one think that would be going back to the 1700's.
At least try to use your mind and think for yourself.
Two things:
1 - You obviously don't know what you're talking about regarding any debt ceiling - founding documents connection. Enlighten me of the connection. 2. What does not passing appropriation bills have to do with the Tea Party? Nothing. Congress has been avoiding doing their job for many more years than the Tea Party has been around, so that dog don't bark.
And you should be on the same page that I'm on unless you're a hypocrite:
The point is that clean CR's for specific pieces of government have been passed by the house (in the same way that appropriation bills use to be passed - smaller and more specific instead of huge all encompassing CR's which hold the country hostage).
Here's a list of CR's that fund various aspects of the government. Why hasn't the Senate taken these up? Who's not funding the Government?
-Federal Emergency Management Agency Continuing Appropriations Resolution
-Food and Drug Administration Continuing Appropriations Resolution
-Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children Continuing Appropriations Resolution
-National Institutes of Health Continuing Appropriations Resolution
-Veterans Benefits Continuing Appropriations Resolution
-District of Columbia Continuing Appropriations Resolution
-National Park Service Operations, Smithsonian Institution, National Gallery of Art, and United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Continuing Appropriations Resolution
Now if you were an honest person, you would say, yeah, the House has passed CR's which in effect act in the same targeted way that appropriation bills use to. Why hasn't the Senate passed these?
If you are a complete Democratic party hack, you probably can't comprehend your inconsistencies and won't see the light.
Republican's allowing another Clinton in the big house hour by hour... Just watch Hannity! What a joke and I am embarrassed for you Republicans! Better go the Tea Party route you'll look better after this fiasco!!
Then they will lose the public. Nobody want's gun legislation. Wildly unpopular.
I respect your service but that's not how taxes work. You might have more withheld from that check but it'll wash out in your refund.

You are a moron. What community college did you graduate from.
