He wasn't "trying to make a point". He out and out lied.

Don't try to deflect what he said. Nowhere in the statement by Mr. Newhouse did he say "We will not let the truth get in the way". That is an outright lie, and Obama knows it. So now who's trying to mislead voters?

Are you being serious?

Are you being serious?

You asked where phgreek got the quote, and I provided a site. You just simply want to gloss over the fact that Obama lied. You want to dismiss the true statement, and provide something that has absolutely nothing to do with the current conversation.

Perhaps I should ask you, are you serious?

Don't be a child. Using a rhetorical device is not the same as telling a lie. If you have philosophical differences with the President that is perfectly OK; you don't have to resort to pretending you don't understand conversational English.

LOL!

Since you apparently don't want to admit that Obama lied, I'll just leave it at that.

Sorry guys...that little annoyance called church. I wasn't ignoring the question

...thanks NDfan4life...that is the quote...

Rhode, I don't recall if the specific source I got it from is the same, as I've seen it in a couple places. However, those words are precisely what I was talking about. One of the sources I read went on to beat on the president for telling a lie while condemning someone else for lying...but whatever. My point was...telling a lie is not specifically a trait of Conservatives/Republicans, and to say or imply one side of this is any better is absurd.

For what its worth, as I've said before...I don't like either side stealing excerpts from one another's previous speaches and presenting them out of context. Its disgusting. It does speak to the willingness of the populous to engage(or lack thereof), such that he who is fastest to take their oppenent's speaches out of context, and create slogans and bullet points wins...while in business I've long loathed the concept of the race to the bottom...applied here, it is particularly irritating, and alarming that it is so effective.

I agree with you 100%. It's disgusting and impedes many their ability to sort out the facts. I guess if you have made up your mind it gives you comfort or ammunition to support your beliefs.

I guess the research says it works but it's sad we've reduced to this.

Two questions: How many people personally know someone who voted for McCain and now is prepared to back Obama? How many know a 2008 Obama voter who will vote Romney? So far, I know no switchers.

Well according to the commercials I've seen, everyone is switching from Obama to Romney.

Other than that, I know of no one.

in all honesty, Utah is a bad case study on the switch topic. Was already in the Bag conservative, Economy isn't good under a Dem, and Romney is LDS...if Obama gets 3% here he did a whale of a job...hehehehe.

We have 10 people who work at my store.

When we opened the store 4 years ago, there were 3 Republicans 4 Democrats and 3 Independents.

In the last election 8 of us voted for Obama and 2 for McCain.

This year 9 are gonna vote for Obama and 1 for Romney, but that might change because the one remaining Repubican hasn't said a word about politics since the RNC.

The morning after the Clint Eastwood thingy, we had an empty chair for our opening meeting and welcomed Clint Eastwood to our store. :)

Bob:
That is surprising to hear. I know our state is one of the most liberal states, but the way our economy is I am hearing the opposite. What kind of store is it? My company deals with manufacturers and contractors mainly and they are literally praying for a change. One guy told me just last week that the last time he went out of business was under Carter when his annual sales went from $5mil to 35k annually in Carter's first two years in office and he won't survive another 4 years of Obama.

...uh oh...

talk like that'll get ya killed.

Every one I know who voted Obama may very well intend to do so again...but they aren't saying. I'd guess no. The novelty is gone, the economy sucks total tail...the rest is noise.

Here in Utah, there is absolutely NO Chance Obama picks up votes who went for McCain last time...NONE.

Its a high end appliance and plumbing fixture retail store. We sell to the general public but deal with a lot of contractors, builders, real estate investors, property managers etc.

I think the general feeling is that while we do need some changes, Romney doesn't offer anything that will truly help anyone except himself and some things are starting to get better here.

Much talk has been aroound the media trying to keep the RNC feeling like they have a chance so they keep spending money.

I don't know....a lot of folks here obviously have a different opinion, but I don't think anyone really trusts or likes Romney.

We'll all know in November.

It is funny I hear that same thing about Obama even from a lot of people who voted for him. I guess it is that link to "Chicago politics."

The funny thing about the Clint Eastwood appearance was that my most liberal friends thought he was the best. It may be their "artsy" backgrounds that better appreciate that kind of off the cuff free style humor.

Like someone said in an earlier post it really doesn't matter what California thinks in a general election.

So it's Monday. Here in the great state of North Carolina (home of many future Notre Dame Legends) the Democratic Convention is gearing up.

So far I have had three political calls.

Who the hell of the pompous s.o.b.'s in Congress decided they should be excluded from the "Do Not Call" list.

Everyone of them should be voted out. I'd rather give a telemarketer a hard time.
