There are many versions of this, but basically "Horseshoe Theory" is that when you go all the way to the right extreme and left extreme they get pretty close together from an ideological standpoint.

The Nazi demands loyalty to the leader and the state with repressed rights for the masses due to concentrating power in a handful of entities/organizations. It's just the path to each that is different.

Right-wing anarchism and left-wing anarchism take completely different ideological paths (Sovereign Citizens vs Noam Chomsky), but end up near the same conclusion minus some finer details.

What's interesting is that Horseshoe Theory also posits that the furthest two ideologies can get from each other is basically some version of Democratic Socialists vs Neo-Conservatives... which is the direction we inch closer to every year.

This is why Trump is a shock to the "evolutionary" nature of the system. Trump has grasped "his" moment and turned it into a pseudo- corporatism for his "followers."
