Why would they let the radical right get away with this? I blame Ron DeSantis.

Yeah, the comparing Proud Boys and Patriot Prayer to ANTIFA and BLM is tiresome.

Salem protest

A Salem Police officer removes a gun from the vest of a pro-Trump protester during an American Lives Matter, pro-Trump rally at the Oregon State Capitol in Salem, Oregon on Monday, Sept. 7, 2020. The pro-Trump demonstrator was arrested after assaulting a female Black Lives Matter demonstrator and pushing a cop.

This guy came from Colorado (per his patch) to commit felony assaualt? Can't read the other two patches. Some 2nd Amendment stuff?

Get a life.

Yeah. I don't think a mob trying to intimidate elderly couples coming home from the grocery store or people going to work really compares to Tiananmen Square.

Just me?

? The video underneath the photo is of someone driving through a crowd of people in Portland. The comparison is to tanks stopping for one man in China.

Right. I saw the video and I think it is an odd comparison to a man defying a communist government.

I have family that live in the Portland area and they are embarrassed what the BLM/Antifa protesters are turning their city into.

Are you surprised? He compares a trump supporter shoving a BLM protester to ANTIFA/BLM blinding police officers for life, firing commercial grade fireworks at them, burning down buildings, attacking and harassing people just going about their lives and smashing cars.

No one doubts that there are good balls on the right looking for trouble. But comparing them to the leftist groups is just nonsense

What are you talking about?

I am not making any comparisons on which groups or actions are most offensive..
Most Oregonians detest the violence from both sides. Lock 'em all up. Block off downtown. Arrest those vandalizing. These "antifa" have been plaguing Portland for years and are just interested in confrontation - with police, the feds, with Patriot Prayer et al. They have no end game. Patriot Prayer should stay in Vancouver to demonstrate. Proud Boys should stay in Florida or wherever. If you come from out of state, no bail for a violent felony. Prosecute those who advocate violence like Joey Gibson has.

As of a week ago, 90% of those arrested protesting in Portland had Portland listed as their primary address. This an old story that talks about this fact, but I heard the stat on the radio again last week.

With increased scrutiny, new systems of oversight, and communities demanding accountability, as well as economic pressures, many police are not going to be able to change with the times.

Investigations of potential violations of overtime practices have been initiated in some places. In New Mexico, the State Auditor, the State AG and the Mayor have opened probes into abuse in overtime for potential fraud.

The State Auditor, Brian Colon, said about his cooperation with. the AG:
“Together, we intend to determine what is really happening at the Albuquerque Police Department. We will collaborate, bringing our respective strengths and skills to this investigation, to ensure no stone is left unturned.”

Colón said the city hasn't acted swiftly and transparently, despite calls from its own Civilian Police Oversight Agency to take action. “The city of Albuquerque has continually failed to hold APD accountable,” Colón said.

“We are not investigating just one transaction or just one individual,” Colon said. “In fact, we are going to be evaluating the process, procedures, protocols and oversight to ensure there is not any abuse in the system.”

“After a long history of poor department oversight and accounting practices, they capped overtime and cut costs last year by $1 million,” the Mayor's spokesman Matt Ross said. “We appreciate the auditors for stepping up to help the internal affairs investigations and hope they can highlight needed process changes to continue fixing this broken system.”

The Civilian Police Oversight Agency for Albuquerque claimed that Officer Simon Drobik was frequently on TV as APD’s public information officer for years violated policies more than 50 times by getting paid both as a spokesperson and working the "chief’s overtime" at local businesses, making more than $192,000 in 2018. Drobik announced his retirement before the APD internal audit could be completed and just before the announcement of the State Auditor ordering a fraud investigation.

There were a couple of days when Drobik billed the city—meaning taxpayers—for more than 24 hours of work in a day. Both Civilian Police Oversight Agency and the Police Oversight Board recommended that APD Chief Mike Geier fire Drobik. But the Chief of Police ignored the recommendations and imposed no discipline against Drobik.

Albuquerque PD is under a consent decree for excessive use of force with the final straw being the killing of a homeless man with mental illness. Videos from police lapel cameras were viewed nationally.

Portland voters will decide on ‘framework’ for new police oversight system in November

Currently,
Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell and Mayor Ted Wheeler, as the city’s police commissioner, decide whether officers are disciplined for founded cases of misconduct in the current system. But an arbitrator can uphold or overturn their decision if the police union appeals.

Wheeler is up for re-election in November and is unpopular.

Nearly 2 in 3 Portland voters view Mayor Ted Wheeler unfavorably, even more favor new police oversight system, poll shows

It's weird how this thread has pivoted to people complaining about ANTIFA/BLM because they can't defend shitty policing in the United States. It is not right to shoot first // justify later.

This doesn't happen in other peer countries, because the police are better trained and better equipped to deal with situations like this:

The mother of a 13-year-year old boy called Salt Lake City police and asked for a crisis intervention team to be sent for her son, who has Aspergers, because he was having “a mental breakdown.” Police shot him. #utpol https://t.co/HaHZryrKsi
— Shannon Watts (@shannonrwatts) September 7, 2020

So not to be misconstrued, I have stated many times the need for reform and better policing and still support it.

The pivot isn't so much some complaining about ANTIFA/BLM, but more on trying to point out that there are two sides to every story.

You can only shake your head and wonder what the police were thinking in regards to the tweet you just posted.

As a father of a severely Autistic son, this problem isn't strictly with law enforcement. This is an issue that affects almost everyone. 20 years ago 1 in 150 children was found to be on the spectrum, today it's 1 in 54. In the 80s the numbers were even further apart. Are we just diagnosing it better now? Probably not. Is it something in our diets? Who knows, there's sadly just not enough information out there still. It's both frustrating and troubling, but more so is the public's lack of knowledge and empathy for the situation.

I can't tell you how often in a given month I'll be in a store and get stares, sneers, or berated by random strangers because my child may have a small outburst, or he may be stimming louder than normal, or he's spinning in an aisle next to me. Every once in awhile you'll have a kind soul that gives you a pick me up or congratulates you for doing well given the circumstances, but more often than not people look at you like you're a horrible parent or they tell you to your face. You would think with all the Autism outreach that's occurred in the media and social platforms that we'd be mostly behind this now, but it hasn't gotten better from what I've seen. With the growing number of people on the spectrum the truly scary prospect is what will happen to all these kids once they're adults. It's going to be a strain on society that isn't prepared for it.

That said, this isn't the first time police have shot an Autistic individual. Charles Kinsey was another heart breaking tale, and the beating of 14 year old Connor Leibel. They need more training for sure, but people in general need more exposure to the condition and some empathy. The officer in the Leibel case knew nothing of Autism. That's not just on the police department, with the growing number of people on the spectrum it's something everyone needs to be schooled in.

Imagine that nothing here about the 2 La county Sheriff’s getting ambushed. I hope when the cops find out who it is they beat the shit out of him. Or maybe karma will get hit and he’ll be hit by a car. If you don’t like go fuck yourself.

What they deserve is to be arrested and prosecuted. A jury of their peers should determine innocence or guilt. None of this bullshit beat the shit of them or anything else.

Their only purpose is to wrongfully arrest or shoot people who disobey the law or a policeman's order.

I have family that live in the Portland area and they are embarrassed what the BLM/Antifa protesters are turning their city into.

Police shot and killed a 28 year old black man who charged the cop with a knife yesterday in Lancaster, PA. Body cam footage is out. Within hours of the news breaking, dudes showed up in kevlar body armor and started destroying cop cars.

I lived in Lancaster for 3 years, and would shed a tear if they turned one of America's best small cities into Portland. And I have ZERO faith in Gov Wolf stopping the madness.

They destroyed Minneapolis over a guy committing suicide. I'm sure the knife bearing attacker will be celebrating by the NFL next week as Lancaster burns and left-wing pundits try to frame it as white supremacist violence.

Looked at CNN.com to read the story. Instead of one of the leading stories, it's the eighth article listed on the right side, after stories about Venus, a large chunk of ice breaking off in Greenland and a car crash on the Golden Gate bridge to name a few.

BLM is trying to change the narrative, (Or at least they were) saying that Ricardo was an unarmed, 14 year old boy with Autism. That fucking pisses me off. Anything to justify <s>protesting</s> rioting.

No tight panties here. I've already stated multiple times we need police reform and I have a pretty good idea how websites work, but they can be manipulated in multiple ways. We do it on our company website on a regular basis. My point was that it's not drawing interest, which is sad. We should be concerned anytime a person's like is taken, not just when a black is hurt or killed.

To the bolded, that statement shows how little you know about IT. But if you go to PC Pro, you can be an expert in just months. Carry on.
