I would let them burn the city down. Then when they want it rebuilt sorry not sorry.
It's better to take a tact like ATL than MN. Don't let the city burn. ATL Mayor (who I've never liked, has done a fantastic job on this) didn't let things get out of hand the first night, teamed with community organizers and known personalities, and then installed a curfew and strict measure night two. MN Mayor looked completely worthless from the start, and continues to fail.
I don't know who this Killer Mike guy Is. He has a pretty powerful message.
He's a rapper, actor, and activist (racism, police abuse, inequality, pro-gun rights, etc) here in ATL. Good guy. He's a huge Bernie supporter. I don't care for all his political views, but he's a sincere dude. I love what he said. TI and the Mayor of ATL have been great too.
The sad thing is that America was about take notice. This was the one that could cause a change. Did anyone else want to punch that cop in the face when they saw that video? I know many good cops and have several friends that are cops. That guy has douche bag written all over him. If you are kneeling on someones neck, you know when you are cutting off the wind. Certainly you can tell when they go limp. That cop is at fault purely. Over a freaking fake $20? Ok, he resisted, but he was sprawled in the street. Handcuffed behind the back, with 4 officers and was motionless for minutes after begging for relief. Why the need to restrain him in the street? The protesting is out of hand and at this point is plain ole looting. I am not saying this is no reason to protest but destroying property solves nothing at this point.
I wanted to kick that cops teeth in the moment I watched the video. He murdered that guy.
Thats the worst part. Change was coming. As a cop, we were all united and horrified by what we saw. That asshole doesn't represent "us". The vast majority of us care more about the communities we serve than ourselves and we have trash like that clown making us all look like racist lowlifes who do not respect humanity. Reform needs to happen. It has too. But the outside entities that hijacked the peaceful protests for a violent anarchist agenda that wants to turn the world upside down. They took over a legitimate protest, exploited the black community, and are destroying their communities. If it is ANTIFA, its comprised of severely underachieving white guys with liberal arts degrees that hail from the middle upper-class that need to feel important because they're losers in every other aspect of life. **** them.
Sorry for the IPA induced rant.
To the above two posts, reps. I do believe America was taking notice and would have seen more positive change and momentum had we not seen the violent distraction. I have friends and family that are police/sheriff and all were sickened by what they saw. I have a lot of friends and family that have always been 100% pro police and are firmly disgusted with what they saw. Conversely I have a lot of liberal friends and they are sickened by a lot of the violence from the protests. It's truly unfortunate that all that momentum has been stopped by both local and imported bad actors.
And the possible import of bad actors is truly disturbing. And it's not just the "import" either. It's other locals hijacking the situation. The ANTIFA elements need to be dealt with. Regardless of the import, or locals hijacking, there's still a lot of locals that are simply opportunists. The vids from the looting is awful. And those who think it's OK to loot a Target, but stay away from small business are idiots. Every business supplies jobs, tax income, and food/products to those local communities. And while my heart goes out to all the small local businesses destroyed, what about all the jobs that could be lost if Target decides to close it's doors or move away.
