def played a small factor, but he enjoyed the lime light and attention--psu def did that for him but he is focused on a football decision and OSU it is...clemson was also in play ...bama if gattis stayed would have been a tough situation for him to say no to and surprised me that Georgia actually was being very seriously considered

Great info, thanks!

Fuck Ped State. Still irks me that the NCAA effectively slapped them on the wrist and reinstated all of Joe Pa's wins after they covered up child abuse for years...but we lost wins because a couple players had some papers written for them without the coach's knowledge? I guess child sex abuse is a lesser evil in the eyes of the NCAA. We even self reported the academic offense, what a joke. Hope the NCAA ends up collapsing on itself or schools do split off some day.

James Franklin changed agents over the summer but this wasn't made public until this week. Trace Armstrong out, Jimmy Sexton in.

10 years ago today Ped State got hit with the penalties by the NCAA which included: $60 million fine, no bowl games for 4 years, loss of 20 scholarships for 4 years, and all their wins since 1998 were vacated. Within a few years they would end up reversing the penalties and reinstating the wins. Still aggravates me to this day...somehow their outrageous cover up and enabling of Sandusky was all forgiven, but we're still without wins from the self reported Frozen Five. Such a mockery of justice.

I cant imagine being someone who walks around repping Penn State like nothing ever happened.

They should never be able to play college sports again. Maybe after 20 years or so... but even then.

Nearly their entire fan base was complicit if you remember their protests to tearing down the statues and Joe being fired.

Shameful isn't the word.

It is disgusting. If there was such a corrupted culture and cover up at ND like that I would have to quit being a fan. Yeah, I really don't get how their fans just wanted it swept under the rug and forgotten. Joe still has his name all over that university.
I saw something where a Pennsylvania legislator wanted to withhold state funding from Penn State until they reveal the location of the Paterno statue. I assumed it was so the statue could be disposed of finally, but that's not the case...

"The statue symbolized Coach Paterno's many outstanding contributions to Penn State on and off the gridiron," Bernstine said in a statement. "His legacy should remain alive for people to view and reflect. Removing the statue does not serve the victims of Sandusky's horrible crimes. The university is sending a mixed message by treating Paterno as a hero at the campus library where a plaque is displayed due to the millions of dollars he donated, but a villain at the stadium where he coached the Nittany Lions to two national collegiate championships and five undefeated seasons."

Seriously, what is wrong with these people?

The should have to wear a child protection symbol on their jerseys for 10 years as a constant reminder that for evil to exist is for good people to do nothing, very little or cover it up all together.

I wonder if there will be many retrospectives. Did ESPN do a 30 for 30? I doubt it. Any interview of that QB McQuarrie that saw the kid in the shower?

No, patch would be too far I think and targets the wrong people. You're shaming the kids that had nothing to do with it. Those responsible absolutely should have paid, and the wins should have never been reinstated. Paterno's name should have been stricken from the school. The scholarships should have remained removed. The only penalty I would have removed was the bowl ban possibly since that hurts the players more than the university I feel like (Yeah, the university gets money from it, but the fine would have offset that and I think bowl revenue was supposed to be forfeit anyway).

PSU, Ohio State, Michigan, and Michigan State have all had very high profile issues now. It’s shocking to me how abuse was covered up and enabled for years at these places, but the PSU and Michigan ones really seem to take the cake in terms of “idolized football legend was a confirmed piece of shit that prioritized his job and winning over protecting innocent people.”

It i shocking how much our whole country has and maybe always did accept rape and child rape and then move on. This was best handled with a form the posse and get a rope. The moment criminal justice became a criminal centered euphemism, real justice was lost. I had a moment of high hopes with the me too and then realized it was immediately not serious and just a political meant to target the right and when it was finding more left funding power brokers than right it died. As to pedo state I do realize that maybe somehow each new round of recruits becomes increasingly more time removed and ignorant of the events but I personally still consider them and there families to be child rape enablers by doing anything that benefits that institution.

That place is a complete cult. It’s actually scary how deluded they are about this.
Bingo! You have, like Alexander, cut the Gordian knot.

And identified a growing American syndrome.

So much of what is going on, even on this board, has to do with cults, brainwashing and propaganda.
We almost need a new thread just on those subjects.

But riddle me this, Plankton. Assume, hypothetically, that you embraced Satan and wanted to start a cult.

Would you want your sheeple to ACKNOWLEDGE that they were in a cult, or to DENY that they were in a cult?

Again, thank you..

I will get hate for this but I don’t know what a bunch of atrocities committed by old men has to do with Penn State’s record on the field. The sanctions were an overreach by the NCAA.

You have to look at the motivation. The very reason they orchestrated the cover-up was to protect their football brand. They feared the backlash and fines and in the end they got a slap on the wrist and almost all of their punishments were undone.
