Just, wow.

"I HOPE U ALL ****IN DIE" And Other Reasoned, Measured Responses To The NCAA's Penn State Punishment

Really - for many it hasn't even been about the kids. It's about their beloved football program and their demi-god JoePa. What a disgrace.

The highest officials of a university cowtowed to a football coach to cover up criminal sexual abuse, which subsequently led to further sexual abuse of children, including on university grounds and in football facilities.

That stuff doesn't happen unless there are serious issues with priorities, control, and power at a university and in an athletic department.

They get what they deserve. Nuff said.

The classic thing to me is these delusional fans now looking for something that happened at other schools and saying the NCAA should step in.
ND has been named twice for the Sullivan situation and the rape incident in 2002.
VA lacrosse because of the player who killed his girl.
And a whole host of other schools.

I'm sure if something similar happened here there would be reactions that are just as severe, just focused on the program instead of a figurehead like Joe-Pa.

Every fan base has their crazies.

That's the difference though. Joe ran that school.
How many other coaches have the same stranglehold over an entire university.
Kinda hard to cover it up if no one is bigger than the school or the program.

I am 100% behind what the NCAA did today if you haven't read my previous posts. I think PSU will probably be better in 5 or 6 years because of the actions they're taking today.

The Paterno family is making things worse by continuing to fuel the fire saying reallly dumb sh!t.

The best thing I've heard in the defense of Joe Paterno and his deplorable inaction, came from a local radio DJ here in Northern California. It didn't give me reason to forgive Joe but I think it did maybe hit the nail on the head as to why Joe might have tried to cover the despicable actions of Sandusky up, other than to protect the football program. He (the DJ) said "back in Joe's day, thats what they did". Its sad but true. Back in the day this kind of sh!t was swept under the rug as a taboo that nobody discussed, like all those closet abortions etc.

Probably some truth that. Much like DWI thirty years ago. Fortunately, we're smarter now

Here ya go. Took me a second to figure it out. Sorry about the last post.

hahahaha that's not bad. Not great, but not bad. Because that's MS paint and not photoshop you're not getting paid though ;)

The best part is the part of the movie poster that says "it's nothing personal".... so perfect. Joe Pa absolutely destroyed Penn State. How utterly ironic.

It was a great line because it was so true... "You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become a villian."

I asked this in the other thread. Is USC still on probation? If so, how could they take a PSU player? How about OSU?

The only way I could see that working is. Same rules NCAA has for the other schools. Your limited to 75 schollies if you take Redd and make it 76 then next year you are only allowed 74.

Silas Redd would be an absolutely huge addition for a USC team that basically has no RB. This is total BS if they allow transfers to sanctioned schools.

I think the NCAA said that they were undecided on transfers to sanctioned schools.

That is some of the sickest stuff I have ever read. The comments in the story below is what I am referencing.

In a somewhat sick and twisted way you must be loving the aftermath of all this... no?

I feel so bad for the kids who were victimized. I think they get lost in a lot of this. The reaction of many of the fans sickens me.
I never liked Paterno, but I would have had to respect him if he did the right thing all the way back in 1998. Now, I hope he rots in hell.
I always hoped and still do that they lose every game they ever play. I hope their players and recruits leave and that their program stays at the bottom. They've beaten up on bottom teams for a long time. Now they will get some of their own medicine.
I don't love what is happening because innocent kids were hurt to bring it on. However, I will love watching PSU getting killed every weekend for the forseeable future. I hate them more than ever.

I think you'll get your wish there... Just sayin'.

First of all for the due process for Paterno argument: It is a waste of time, as PSU Coach he agreed to abide by the NCAA bylaws. Guess what happens to due process in the bylaws?

What about the poor provost that did her job and was forced out of town, "fearing for her life" after she tried as little as disciplining several football players, (university students) who got in a bar fight? Here was a woman just doing her job, and she went through the whole gammit from threats to for sale signs magically appearing in her front lawn. That wasn't even directly rape related. That is just how Joe was given free reign to handle everything.

And that boys and girls is how you say, "the punishment fits the crime."

I do wish JoPa had lived to at least see all of this... if everything we know/understand is true he deserved to see it all crumble.
