My friend woke up to a ruckus outside his house last night....
This is what he found opening the front door.

The spot lights are actually animal control. They were able to shuffle him back into the marsh luckily. His dog was what woke him up...LOL

No. They don't do that here. There are no Steve Irwin's here. This is SC. SC does not pay people to do this type of work regularly. We are lucky there is an animal control facility in the area and I live in a more populated area. If this occurred in a more rural area, you would shoot it, skin it and serve up some alligator meat at the next "get together".

I just assumed your DWR/fish and game, not your dog catcher, would deal with any and all native species at human/nature interface zones....it was indeed nice of animal control to try and help. I might be inclined to line my property with a low slung electric fence if you can't "eliminate" the problem.

And the "rural" solution...now you are speaking my language ...:)

So you would literally just pop this thing in the back of the head with a gun and boom, dinner?

...I always wanted to do a gator hunt with my bow...I'm jealous. Record it so we can live vicariously ...:)

I will if get a tag, fingers crossed. That's how I was going to do it, with a bow and reel it in and pop it with a bang stick.

...wandered what the Gotti family was up to these days...was betting the garbage Business...apparently they've moved on to "animal control"

LOL. Its not hard to make someone disappear in some of the places around here.

There are square miles of this where I live. A flat bottom boat can get you anywhere. Of course I am not saying I know of such things.....;)

I never could figure why folks south of the Mason/Dixon Line were so "polite"...
I think I get it now :)

Its not hard to see how alligators get into the urban areas. In the picture there are properties right up to the tree lines in the background.

And yet I can't help but think of how I don't associate alligators with the southern folk of yesteryear. You know, I just can't picture the people from Gone With The Wind having to deal with alligators.

Atlanta and Tara are far away from alligator country.

...well, I can't really picture them having normal bodily functions either...but I digress.

It seems to me the threat of being disappeared into the swamp leads to the compulsory politeness, so there had to be someone actually willing to disappear someone...well and deal with gators...I'm guessing if they had alligators in the script, they'd have to write in Gary Cooper, Clint Eastwood, the Duke...and of course they'd double as the polite police...:) I think it'd make the script far more realistic...:)
