Just some clarification....

I think everyone was shocked about Schutts pulling of a offer...but think about this...

OFFENSE

RBs-- Will Mahone, Keith Marshall, Byron Marshall, KeiVarae Russell, Greg Garmon seem to be the top ones here...We got to save 2 schollies here. Its not debatable.

WRs- Darboh, Chris Brown, Cyrus Jones, Treggs....you got to think 1 of these will pull/switch over.

OLine-- Banner, Garnett, Peat--- Any of these want to come...you take.

Outside Chance--- Nelson Agholor has stated that ND is player...whether or not its legitimate or ND even gets him to campus is a longshot...But you save 1 scholly for him reguardless till his recruitment is over.



DEFENSE--

If we pulled Schutts offer without getting Days verbal, then yes it would alarm me. But we got a verbal from a DE/DT....Schutt isnt a DE. Why wouldnt you take a player that can play multiple positions.


Dline- Jarron Jones, Arik Armstead....Id take either over Schutt. Both can play DT/DE. Once again multiple spots. I like Schutt as much as anyone but Id also like to have Jarron/Armstead over Schutt....Makes sense....

LB- Ifeadi- You take this kid.

DB- Manning, Davis, Thompson, Wright, Shumate, Reeves....Cant turn them down either.



I mean all the kids I listed....we NEED more than Schutt. Itd be nice to have Schutt to add depth but think about this as well.....Tuitt, Springmann, Kona, Cwynar, Nix, and Day is quality depth. Then add in Jarron/Armstead can play inside if we get either....thats a lot of YOUTH and depth. I mean Lynch played very well using an inside technique in the spring game. Outside of Cwynar/Springmann/Nix are inside and outside guys.

You cant overload at DT/NG right now when we have more pressing needs. Schutt would have added a lot of potential, but theres already a ton of potential there. I have seen some Heggie comments and a lot of people are upset....Please. When we took him we needed bodies and a kid with a work ethic in practice. He may or may not see the field but I know one thing...he has the respect of his teammates for what he does in workouts and practice.

Id sacrifice Schutts verbal for any of the kids listed above when we are at 8 schollies left.

Just my 2cents.

thank you for putting things into perspective. This write up is a much needed wake up call for all of us overhyped Irish fans.

First of all, this should be in the recruiting thread.

Second, I would rather have Schutt than another WR..... any WR other than DGB.

You take a kid like this and worry about the details later. That's just my opinion... but I would be willing to bet that it is also the opinion of almost every consistent program. Saban, Stoops, Meyer, etc would have all found a place for a top 10 DT.

ps - No disrespect my man, I dig the hell out of your posts and insight.

yup it sure did for me great post and thanks for the well needed wake up call..sux to lose tommy but i would put every name mentioned above ahead of tommy...good luck to you tommy..............................go irish...

So you would put Chris Brown, a 3*, 80th ranked WR (according to Rivals) over the 5th ranked, high 4* DT (again.. according to Rivals)????


Yeah... i'm not on the same page with ya....

He will be on signing day. One will be a part of our future, and the other, not so much.

I don't get all the negativity here. Not all 4/5* pan out for Christ sakes. Have a drink....get the **** over it.

Kelly is driving this ship, not you sniveling recruiting dorks absolutely destroyed with today's events. I'm pretty sure he's got this figured out.

Moved to recruiting. Good points TurningPoint. I posted early saying I would have taken Schutt over a 2nd RB. Probably didn't think that one out too well. I'll trust the staff on this one, but I will be very dissappointed if we pull a CW and whiff on NSD and get to read about some feel-good story next spring/summer where a senior walk-on gets a schollie cause we have one left over.

You are correct. I stand corrected. That said, Kelly and staff recruit this team, and you don't. Scott Daly will be a member of this team and Schutt will not thus, he will be a more important member of this team. Anything else???

He will be (saying that we dont end up with Schutt, who knows, crazier things have happened), but who would be more important if they both signed.

My money would be on Schutt.

I know very well that I don't recruit for ND, but isn't the point of a forum, at least for many of us, to bitch, moan, groan, and gloat?
