I received some awesome cigars for the bday. I'm really excited to try these:

  • Davidoff Nicaragua Toro
  • Toast Across America 2017 Coffin Box (Opus X and a Black Diamond)
  • My Father Limited Edition 2015

I also received a Muestra de Saka Unicorn as a gift. I have to admit, I'd never heard of that, prior to last night. I looked it up, afterwards, and was pretty shocked at the sticker price. The only problem is trying to figure out what event is appropriate for such a unicorn. New Year's Eve is so far away!

Smoked an Undercrown Sun Grown Robusto, last night. It's a thick robusto with a lot of smoke. I know some people are going crazy for Undercrown, but I would call it an "okay" cigar. Not bad, but nothing stood out as outstanding.

Agree. Pretty basic compared to the cost. Working through a box of Punch cigars I bought at a duty free store.

I've never been great at maintaining a humidor, but I have my best one yet now. I'm about a year in and still loving it. No mold, no humidity issues, just great results. Thought I'd share.
The packs work great.

Yeah, those packs work pretty well. How are they in the winter? During SB winters, with the standard wet "sponge," I was lucky to keep my humidor above 50%.

Now, I use a big Xikar humidifier. I don't have much of an issue maintaining humidity, here, though.

Works great in the winter. Iowa isn't much different of a winter.

I finally tried The Leaf by Oscar. Got it in a Connecticut wrapper. It really reminded me of The Griffin. The ash didn’t fall off until I was about an inch from the label. Very impressed.

I remember talking about this cigar. Seems like an eternity ago!

I smoked a Muestra de Saka Nactamale, a couple of days ago. Strong flavor, good burn. I'm curious to see how the Unicorn will turn out.

Was doing spring cleaning over the weekend and I found 2 Cohibas in one of the small Pelican cases i used in Caye Caulker last spring. Good times. Wish I was there now lol.

Were they salvageable, or are we pouring some out for those dead homies?

Smoked an Arturo Fuente Queen B, tonight. Nice cigar, dark but smooth. Good draw throughout, with a really nice burn. Worth the price, for sure. It's a good size, too; not too big, but not a Short Story.

La Flor Dominicans Andalusian Bull. I highly recommend this cigar. Spicy, full body. Pricy but worth it.

Dead smokes. Fortunately/unfortunately it's a norm. I have a few cooler backpacks and several small pelican cases for me and my homies. I try to go through stuff in the spring and clean up. Third time in less than two years I found good cigars in pelican cases. I smoke mostly when on the beach getting my clear ocean buzz on. Just happens lol.

Smoked an Alec Bradley Black Market Filthy Hooligan, today, since it's St. Patrick's Day.

Barber pole cigars always seem to burn unevenly, for me. Does anyone else experience that problem?

Yeah I’m not a fan of that style of wrapping. The few ive hade seem to lack any quality.

Smoked a La Galera 80th Anniversary torpedo, tonight. First time trying this brand. Nice cigar. I don't know what the price-point is, since it was a gift. It reminds me of a My Father cigar. Maduro, so it has a lot of flavor. Decent strength, nice draw, and good construction.

I agree. The other barber pole I had recently (A. Fuente) had some problems. I'll probably stay away from these, for the most part.

I've smoked a number of cigars, but haven't been posting. Here's a quick summary:

The Tabernacle (Foundation Cigar Co.) - Spicy and dark. Looks stronger than it is.

Jaime Garcia Limited Edition 2017 - Really good cigar. Get it, if you can. One of the better smokes I've had, recently.

Todos Las Dias Short Churchill (Steve Saka) - This cigar is up there with "The Judge" regarding how strong it is. Believe the hype, this cigar is an ass kicker. It's dark and spicy, full flavored, and a real kick to the balls. I smoked 3/4 and had to tap out because I was getting dizzy.

Always forget about this thread. For some reason it came to mind as I’m sitting at the end of my garage watching a thunderstorm.

Enjoying a Bolivar Belicoso Fino from 2012 box. Pairing it with a bunch of Stella Artois

Been smoking a lot of cigars since the last posts. One that stands out, because it was well-priced and a really nice smoke, is Alec Bradley American Classic. I think I paid about $4 a stick (robusto) for a bundle. Really good cigar for such a low price-point.

I've been a huge fan of Last Call by AJ Fernandez. Great smoke, and you can't best the price.

Tried a cigar from a brand I just heard about. Is anyone familiar with D'Crossier Cigars? The first I heard of this brand was a couple of weeks ago, when one of my usual brick-n-mortar stops brought it in.

I tried the "Pennsylvania Ave" robusto. It burned unevenly, but I'm not sure if that was because of how breezy it was. It's a strong-tasting cigar, bitter and dark, and has a criollo wrapper. The price-point is decent, as it was about $9.

smoking a Hoya De Monterrey Habana double corona form a cabinet box of 50 from 2006. 11 left now and it has been over 5 year since I touched these.

It was one of the few cigars to score a perfect 100. I am a third in and am mindblown. Truly a masterpiece.

Years ago I wasted so much money on average cigars. My advice to any beginners...smoke once in a while but buck up and buy the best you can.
