The 1st qtr gave me a glimpse of how ND's offense will look like next year. But don't understand the offense after that. Just throw the darn ball to Michael Floyd downfield. They can't stop him. Plus these fumbles are killing the offense. These running backs need to focus and hold on to the pigskin.

If Floyd doesn't drop it you mean?

Defense looks pretty good. Looks like they're starting to play together. Calabrese and Teo are beasts!

I will take 31 points a game any day, any time. I don't care in what quarters we get the points.

Agreed, points are points, i think we are only getting better every week, with the way pitt has been playing, i feel fairly confident about that game, (pre season i had it marked down as a "probable loss") now i think if we can build from this game we can finish the first half of the season .500 and continue that momentum on to WMU, Navy, and build for our real tests against Utah and SC

Good win...not great. But a good start. Like what I'm seeing. Hopefully things will fall into place. Prince Shembo is a stud man. Go Irish!

X2 Looks like we are making progress. A step in the right direction.

Crist is much better than Clausen at this stage of their careers. Crist just needs to gain more confidence and that will come soon. Don't know what happened to T Jones today. Didn't see much of him.

But you have to remember Dayne has much much much more talent and expirience around him.

I am happy with the win, but Crist needs marked improvement when it comes to throwing to his left. I'm sure it will come with time, but as far as critiques go that is a glaring negative in Dayne's game.

I strongly disagree. Clausen was accurate as a freshman despite playing behind the worst team in modern ND history. He was a true freshman. Crist has a LONG way to go.

Jimmy had accuracy issues until last season... his deep ball was always there, but I think you're forgetting how many guys he would miss from 15 yards in and less....

It depends if you are comparing years starting, to being on field. Clausen was true frosh when he hit the field in that painful 2007 season, and Crist has been in the program for 3 years now. With the transition to a new coach it isn;t that simple. Crist needs time, but his accuracy is not great right now.

Clausen also had the tutelage of a guy who is, arguably, the best QB coach in all of football. I hope for, but don't expect, the same development from Crist.

I was going to say... at this point in his career Claussen was a legitimate Heisman candidate if the D was even just a little better.

That being said, glad to see Crist progressing.

Come on. Dayne hardly played last year. Tore his knee all up and is in his 4th game as a starter. He isn't going to be a stud right now. new coach, new scheme, and still putting up solid numbers. And basically has given us a chance to win every game except Stanford.

For one I am glad he is Irish. We are 2-3. And now have to get to work again. We have a stellar class set up for next year, and we are going to get better as the season goes on. We just need to win!

Go Irish! Keep it in perspective Notre Dame Nation.

Our team will be as good at any moment as Dayne Crist is relaxed. Everybody has their positive and negative moments, but no one else COMPLETELY dominates our performance like Dayne does from one moment to the next. One thing that i believe is different about Jimmy and Dayne is that Jimmy was WAY less worried about making a mistake. Also, he hardly ever looked to me like his head wasn't involved with the entirety of the play [i.e. he didn't "stare down" one option so much]. We just have to get Dayne in relax mode so he's [rapidly] reviewing the possibilities that the playcall presents him. I'm beginning to think that calling some run plays SO he can get hit and response physically is a good strategy.

I dont agree. I think the opposite, JC was lights out from 25 yards in. his long balls had accuracy issues, but not to the point where it was a negative.

JC felt the pressure alot better and knew how to shift in the pocket. DC is faster but still doesn't make many plays with his feet. DC's timing is off but that exucse is getting old. Too many drops and lousy protection. HE also seems to miss the open rcvr many times. He has a gun but lacks finesse on many of his throws. JC always gave Tate and Floyd to make a play. DC's balls are thrown where nobody can catch them many times. I honetsly don't see him doing this for 3 years in Kelly's scheme. We can look at 30-40 different teams and see better QB's for this system. I know this might sound blasfamous but I would like to see Tate Forcier transfer to ND. We would kill with that skill in Kelly's system.

Tate Forcier is a joke. When it gets cold he can't hold onto the ball. Just wait til Nov., if he even plays, I bet he fumbles at least one ball where isn't even touched.

Crist will be a great QB. Give him time to pick up the offense, and 2 years without playing makes it hard. Jimmy played every year.

We better beat Pitt or I will never go to another game again as the Irish will be 0-3 with me in attendance.

Forcier? Are you kidding me? Guy was ready to bail on UM earlier.
