Freeman is 23 games in. Yes it’s early. Yes he’s learning and improving. Some of these mistakes are inexcusable regardless of tenure.

I agree that the mistakes shouldn't be excused, because the standard is the standard, but saying that Freeman should have it all figured out by now is a bit of stretch. Kelly had years as a HC before coming here and cost us plenty of games over his first 8 years by mismanaging clock or chasing points before it was necessary.

Yeah, I’m afraid he’s gonna get roasted for that. When the failed NFL coach in the booth is basically predicting what ended up happening it’s not good. ND has done everything they could on offense to lose this game. You CANNOT let an inferior team hang around and give them hope but ND has done just that. I fully expect Pitt to put together a scoring drive to start the 2H b/c the ND defense can only let the offense off the hook so many times before Pitt finally gets lucky.

Nothing Pitt has done says that they are equipped to come back down 17. Sure it could have been better, but it wasn’t going to be any worse. Offense is playing fine. Sam made 2 (actually 3) really bad throws. I was wondering why he ran the clock but if we don’t get called for the penalty it wouldn’t have been a problem. Defense forced QB into a couple of bad throws. Not sure why the sky is falling in here. The boys are playing well.

You're right. It's frustrating but hindsight is 20/20. Would've worked out perfectly if we just scored the touchdown on 3rd down
