No doubt OL is playing poorly, and a lot of routes are covered, but Book is playing extremely poorly right now. He is not recognizing the players who are open and is slow to pull the trigger. Counting to 2-Mississippi and then tucking it is not a viable strategy right now.

It’s not just the OL, it really isnt. Book is missing everything mentally right now. 2nd and goal with :34 to go, Boykin is basically doing jumping jacks by himself to the top of the screen. Book rushes forward for a 1-2 yard gain.

Very next play, both Alize comes free in the same area Boykin was previously, but Book takes sack. On the same play, Boykin is open in the corner of the end zone, timing says that ball should be out before sack, easily.

Pete Sampson said he expected ND to drop at least one game due to the loss of Bars. ND survived nicely until today where they need more than Bars.

IF they can’t adjust both mentally & physically, could be an embarrassing weekend. This is Book’s first real adversity. He doesn’t ave the athleticism to do what Wimbush does on broken plays. He can get 2-4 yards & that’s not enough if it happens once/twice per series. He’s absolutely baffled.

Not sure what they did in prep but they know what Narduzzi is going to bring. Really no excuse but the perfect storm we all feared has approached us in the first half. Hopefully, it’s flipped for the 2nd. Go Irish

Why does this place always go to shit at the first bit of struggle? It's exam week.. we struggle alot during exam week. This is bound to happen through the course of the season.. win and advance. 2nd half game plan needs to include heavy dose of run and quick throws outside in space.

Because ND fans still don’t take that into consideration and hear all the plaudits while seeing the 21 pt point spread. ND is a good team but they don’t have a CFP OL and that has been proven evident today Bars injury hurt but they (along w/ RB) can’t handle the blitzing.

I'd say he faced quite a bit of adversity going into the locker room last week. Missed a lot of open looks, had a pick, offense stalled after the 2nd drive going into the half. He regrouped. Gonna have to do it again.

Also, play calling changed. We tried to be too cute and got away from what Book does well. Book is outstanding at dinking and dunking within 2 secs. He's got over 100 yards and is still 70+% this game doing just that. The passing play calls that are failing are slower developing routes. And the pocket is not holding more than 2 seconds anyway. Do what you do well. The OL is not doing shit in the running game either. We're averaging less than 2 yards a rush when you remove Book's legs.
