Honestly, everyone looks at these games as big time performances. What you have to think about is how does this performance matchup against better teams. IMO it doesn't. It didn't against UMASS and then Clemson happened. Some of the plays made today won't happen next week so better decision making needs to happen. As well as man on man football

Not good enough to beat better teams. Really good athletes with poor execution. Better teams make poor execution pay. Navy's D just isn't that good. Should have been able to enforce our will earlier and boy did we have our chances. Those chances are few and far between against better teams.

100% agree. But let's face it this is the ultimate donut game. Tough loss on the road last week and night game against your biggest rival next week. Overall solid performance.

I'll agree and I don't take it to heart. It just is what it is. This was supposed to be the deepest team with the best leadership we've had in a very long time. Yet we have massive lapses in judgement and find insane solace in beating bad teams. I was a Debbie downer against UMASS, them Clemson happens. I'll be a Debbie downer now and hope we play well enough to beat a good team, which we haven't down this entire season. I really don't like to purposefully be negative but this isn't good football. Both sides of the ball have huge flaws but insane amounts of talent, so what gives?

Yes great leadership on offense. But you lose your starting running back, quarterback and TE. Having depth is nice. But to lose those three players after two weeks is crazy. The defense has no excuse though.

I'm hoping for better

I think we will find out a lot about ND against USC. A win puts us in position for a 10-2 or a 11-1 season. A close loss would be disappointing, and a blowout loss will reignite the discussion about if Kelly is good enough for ND. I am really hoping for a win (any win, I could give a shit if it is a 1 point win) but it will really depend on us not turning the ball over and our D coming out ready to play from the first drive. We can not spot USC 14 points before we start to play.

Also I know all you on IE were thinking playoffs and national championship before the season. Realistically I was thinking more along the lines of 10-2 or 9-3 and that's still possible with all these injuries.

We got a lot of work to do to compete with elite teams we're still not on the same planet as legit top five teams

Problem is we're running out of quality wins on the schedule and I'm not sure we have any teams left on our schedule that can get us into the playoffs

We have a difficult time stopping a QB who is patient and accurate because we're incapable of getting pressure without blitzes and our secondary is suspect.

I think USC is going to be a monster test.
