I’ll grant that your contention, that it is lose-lose for ND no matter the score, but so what. Who replaces them? Some rent a school home and home? Yaaay!! That is just so much more interesting. More MACtion and D2 will show everyone that ND means business.

I was ND Navy ROTC and flew with many ring knockers. I love this game for that. I also love that it is a movable feast. I have seen this game as a home game, a true Annapolis away game, in San Diego, and Meadowlands (I think). They will quite literally play us anywhere.

Lastly, I see far more similarities between Canoe U and ND than I do ND and TAMU or Clemson.

So I don’t get the animosity or even the antipathy.
Hmmm. Interesting.

I don't recall mentioned a MAC or D2 opponent, but hey, you LOVE this game. It's evident in the tone of your response.

@IRISHDODGER said it best. There are two camps within the fanbase regarding this game. He and I are in one, you are strongly in another. It's seriously fine. Maybe not for Joey Maguire, but in all honestly, I don't really care.

I am happy in my camp, and I wish you well in yours....even if your chances of being correct here are lower than a snakes belly.

That’s not even football. Take them off the schedule.

Add in the fact that Navy clearly sat Horvath to avoid injury so he‘d be available for the next two AAC matchups. If Navy is going to treat it like an exhibition by keeping their best player out of the game, then how much wider does the door need to be open to invite ND to adjust or eliminate the “rivalry”?

We kept Traore out for the same reason. The potential reward did not offset the known & likely risks.
ND's defense beat Horvath up pretty well last year.

Why is the Navy v Army game (each teams 12th game) played after their conference's CG?
If Navy was 10-1 presently with only a loss to ND would they play in championship game and this game be abandoned?

If this game was played already and Navy beat Army, it is possible they would be ranked which would look better for ND. Which could be important for ND.

Army won the AAC 'ship against Tulane last year and lost to Navy the next week.

It seems like if this Navy v Army game was played in the regular season Navy could be 10-2 so would probably be ranked and possibly playing in their conference final all of which would help ND.

Why don't they play it during rivalry round?

Maybe ND should cut Navy.

Reminder that Navy is now 10 - 2, beat OU last season in their bowl and got left out of the AAC Championship game by an arbitrary ranking of Tulane.

Beat Cincinnati! @IrishLion
It would be good if they played their 12 games during the season so the committee can take them seriously.

This didn’t matter at all-they’ve been ranked in the AP polls for several weeks now and if anything they did worse today than projected. They weren’t ranked by the committee because it would have been inconvenient for the committee to rank them because then we’d be 2-2 against ranked teams given what the committee was going to do to us.

pick us or pick the army navy game is something we could say if we liked wasting everyone’s time by presenting the world’s easiest choice

I'd tell Navy to play 12 games in the regular season or we are fucking you off the schedule - its amateur hour.
They should play on conf champ weekend, ask for other games to not be played during their time slot. The Army Navy game is important to the game

It is just an exhibition game. It obviously doesn't even count towards the play offs which makes it less than even the championship games.

Sir, IIRC you’re not from the United States so I understand why you may not understand the significance of this game. Both teams care more about keeping this American tradition alive than a national title. No university I think would ever try and ruin that.

One of the best Navy teams in a generation and we got about as much credit for beating it as we got for beating one win BC.
Very unfortunate, because with Hovrath at QB they should be looked at as a top #30 win, but FPI cuurrntly has them at 70th which is lower then 4-8 MSU which is 64th.

Seems insane to me, but have to respect math.
