It is just an exhibition game. It obviously doesn't even count towards the play offs which makes it less than even the championship games.
Brother, you are out to lunch on this. Army-Navy is the last pure expression of college football left in this world and it's meaning and place in the world is forever secured. We can't bemoan the loss of tradition and history in CFB and then call Army-Navy an "exhibition game."

Army-Navy is a game that matters in and of itself and as part of winning the Commander in Chief Trophy, not as a step toward a playoff or national championship. That’s absolutely not an exhibition game. Rather it is what those players and their fellow students, alumni, and fans most care about in the game. It’s not a perfect analogy, but I don’t think anyone here would call ND-USC an “exhibition game” if both teams entered it at 5-6 with no chance at the CFP.

This game was important and more important because Navy got to 10 wins! I’d say great tradition but they’re always flaunting some new BS version of their uniforms. Bring tradition back and play in your most basic uniforms. Who is paying for all these different uniforms these guys are wearing?!

If 'bama thinks they are better than Navy, there's a way to prove it on the field: put them on the schedule. Until then, it's reasonable to conclude they are afraid they can't stop the option and would suffer an embarrassing defeat.
