Rees has been a turnover machine his entire time at ND so I wouldn't expect that to change in these last two games.

Have you ever had a positive thought in your life? How do you go through life being so negative? Also he hasn't had that many turnovers this year (yes there have been some inopportune ones but it hasn't been a turnover fest).

0 turnovers against USC, a game which Notre Dame won.

So "entire" is not entirely accurate when it comes down to per contest, of which there are two remaining in his career.

I hope he succeeds. It would be a great way for him to finish at ND.

Seriously, when even a mediocre coach like Oregon dominates with this roster it really shows how bad Lane Kiffin was. I know he can recruit but i think I like the idea of Oregon staying at the helm at SC over anything that 6 million could possibly buy.

But people have to lower their expectations. Seriously the mood swings on this site are ridiculous. A few days ago the board completely melted down and people were writing off the next decade and now because Stanford falls they think we win out? Yea its a real-- but absolutely slim-- possibility, but realize that SC was held to 23 yrds rushing on 27 carries today and they managed to pull off a win. You think ND could win being limited to an output like that? I'm not saying that it automatically means our running game will struggle like that but it something to keep in mind especially since Sc has a better run game than us.

USC rushing the field against Stanford? Man have times changed....

I went to the game, and was thinking the same thing too. Then the ppl I was with wanted to rush the field, so i found myself on the field in the coliseum. I have been to the coliseum approximately 80+ times, only the 2nd time I have been on the field. (first time was in 1988 at the Monsters of Rock tour)

I would be very pleased with a 9-3 finish to the season. If Tommy plays clean games, Notre Dame should win the next two games.

Even if Tommy plays clean, I think we've got other problems that will hinder our play. We struggled to stop Pitt and Navy scoring. Our defense is completely banged up right now. Maybe we get a few guys back after this bye week, but we're still missing a lot. We should have established the running game with the O-Line we had this year and the backs, but I think we spent too long trying to develop GAIII and Carlisle, instead of going to Folston and Cam. Maybe Folston wasn't ready yet, I don't know, I know he was dinged up. Special Teams is pretty bad too, they're not helping us.

Stanford beats Oregon but loses to USC. What is this sorcery
They probably had a let down week. We had one last year after being Oklahoma and nearly screwed up our season to Pitt. It's hard to play "up" for 12 straight games and sometimes you lose games, especially on the road.

They are overrated, i was very surprised when i found out that they won Oregon (with an initial 26-0). Very important W for USC, i'm sure that Juju, Adoree, Mama and the best players from Cali will attend USC, a shame.

My expectation on this game has completely changed. Would be telling if USC, a team with scholarship limits, a lame duck interim coach, and all sorts of depth issues beat Stanford and we end up with the loss.

I figured that this loss would trigger a bunch of "Stanford is overrated" and "we should win this game" commentary. Let this game sit in for a week and revisit your thoughts.

That USC team gave us a run too. They had just fired their coach two weeks prior though. They are a hot team right now, thats unquestionable. Orgeron is not a "lame duck" coach. The players love the guy and want him to get the full time gig. USC played well in this game. Much better than how they played us.

Stanford is still fundamentally strong. Still have a great running game. Still play great defense. Them losing to USC doesn't change anything about their matchup against us. USC is a rising team and we just lost to Pitt.

it's just too bad we don't have them at home again this year. we are not a very good team on the road, due to our lack of leadership from the top to bottom.

i think we could pop em off if we were to play them at home, but on the road as is, i see this as no better than a 2 TD game.

I won't disagree with you and your view. I think that time will tell with what happens to USC, and the matchup may certainly be different. I did see a stat last night that USC defensive starters played all but two snaps of the game last night. Turnovers allowed USC to win (a mantra we are familiar with). They are a team with momentum, who has been more heavily handicapped than many teams outside of Penn State and Florida, and will be ranked in the top 25 today.

Stanford is going to beat us by a lot. Try not to let it ruin your Thanksgiving weekend.

there depth and ability to punish front 7's will be waaaaaay too much for us to handle with our paper thin depth up front. hopefully we walk away in one piece.

i guess let's just get a win this week and hopefully get a decent bowl matchup where we can get a W and a lil momentum into the off season.

Tough for me to buy right now...USC has no defensive depth, at every position. Their starters played all but 2 snaps of the game last night, and they won the game. Sorry...can't buy that, especially with Nix, Tuitt, and Day up front.

USC has much better talent on defense than we do. And they played a very inspired game last night. For some reason, it's been a very long time since our team played with that kind of intensity.

Probably not since USC

We've started slow all year and we've been missing the edge that we had last year. This team seems unable to make a play when it needs it the most.

The effort's been inconsistent. At least it's not another road night game

edit- apologize for the disorganized post

Stanford will roll against us. No way we can play with these guys. USC is better than us and they played to their level last night. Hopefully Orgeron will get the hire and things will start to fade away. This rally cry will go away, new players will come in and USC will be mediocre again.

Right now, they are better than us. Stanford is better than us. Stanford will not drop 3 this year.

I sure as hell hope I am wrong.

Right so 3 weeks ago. That's not a "very long time." We got up for a big rivalry game, USC just got up for a big rivalry game. I fail to see what they did that was so much different than what ND did. USC has had inconsistent effort all year too.

Kiffin was largely responsible for those inconsistencies. USC missed a few FG's that would have beaten us. That could have changed that perception as well.

Orgeron is not only popular with the players. The students really like him there and they want him to be the head coach. USC will be a lot better next year.

I'm not sure about that. 3 weeks is a very long time in the world of college football. Shoot, it's a quarter of the season. More than that if you include the week of practice before and after the 3 weeks.

I think we can all agree that since USC, this team has played very uninspired.

That being said, this will be Tommy's last regular season game. It wouldn't surprise me if he played lights out.

Sure, SC's been inconsistent, but they're on a hot streak. They had Gameday in town, it was a night game, and probably the biggest game of their season. I just don't think we have those intangibles in our favor.

Kessler made some plays with his feet that were crucial. I don't think Tommy will have the time nor the athletic ability to make many plays against the Stanford defense.
