All the time we watched Austin Collinsworth, Cam McDaniel, Everett Golson play was just hurting the future while still hurting the present. We sat better, younger guys for guys who were too hurt to play or just not good enough.

This might be the most frustrating thing about this season.

Your premise was 'how many of ND's defensive players were playing HS last year'. I countered with my point about USC's freshman playing (3 starting OL), and now you're trying to get off topic about records (which are irrelevant: look at the field), and now you're trying to pin me for 'look at my points'.

No, I'm not doing that. I'm looking at and responding to your point about the youth.

Pretty sure Kelly realizes Golson is a head case and didn't want to destroy any confidence he may have left by benching until he absolutely had to in this game. I agree that he did perform rather well in the second halves. Kelly realizes Golson has a tremendous amount of talent and I think he was trying to have him fight through adversity. Problem is I think him holding others accountable may have hurt the team overall.

I guess we agree to disagree. IDC about the identical record considering we hardly play the same teams. USC is physically whooping us and IMO that's the tell of where the two programs stack up to one another.

BK needs to sell saving Greg a year in the pros wear and tear wise... I wouldn't blame GB one bit if he transferred to North Dakota st or someone like that, played one year and went pro... Same for Max... Two of our most talented players

I hated when they slow played Max last season. I hated them slow playing GB this year.

I don't see how this program gets back to elite consistently without giving on at least one of those two... Not in this day and age.

They have known the standards all along. Sign some full classes! Stay on recruits until the bitter end. We have all heard how Kelly only recruits in special circumstances at the end. I hate Urban Liar but he busts his ass in recruiting. Maybe Kelly needs to do the same?

Hindsight is 20/20. Cam is still our most complete back and I wonder if he was in blocking the entire ASU game if we don't come away with a win there. If we knew we were going to be going 7-5 at the start of the season, of course you would start the younger guys to get them experience. When you start 6-0 it's hard to justify changing the formula when you're winning. We were still in good shape after ASU, but after (Or maybe even during) Northwestern I would have seriously considered putting Zaire in and more snaps for Folston/Bryant at THAT point. We waited too long, imo, no way should we have been getting Zaire snaps this late.

Does anyone think things would have been difference had the call not gone the way it did against FSU and we won? Would that have improved attitudes to where we would have played better against ASU and Northwestern, not missed the FG against Louisville? Or would the implosion have still happened and what we are seeing is what we really are as a team? Most people thought we would go 8-4 at the start of the season...especially when we lost the 5 to suspension. We are only one game worse than that and USC is the ONLY game we never had a chance to win.
