Why even being in Phil if you’re just going to handcuff him with the play calling?

I honestly don't think its playcalling as much as RPO. He's getting reps against a first-team D, and that's what he needs.

To avoid the perennial qb controversy. If Book stays I’d expect PJ to transfer.

and PJ is not going anywhere even If Book stayed into 2021. These guys are ND guys. We aren't talking about Clemson, Bama steroid freak show guys that win in cheating. Grey shirting is cheating in my book!
We are talking about good human beings that want to win the right way.

I would love to see a full season from the Ian Book we've seen since that last series vs. VT

We have seen it. For two seasons.

Against teams with the horses to play with ND, he becomes mediocre. (See Clemson, UGA, Michigan)

When he plays teams who don't have the horses, he is a fine guy to have back there.

I love that, ‘accept you’re not big time anymore irish fans’ sermon at the end there. Sour note of an otherwise fun half of football,... though I’m sure whiskey loved it

It doesn’t help that the back up OL are not disciplined enough to avoid multiple false starts every time they get action. I mean the kid’s first play was 1st & 20.

Zero reason to transfer. He’d have to sit the year anyway, so why not stay with ND and start the next year.

It's always funny to see the trolls that are here when the game is in doubt. As soon as we put teams away they crawl back into their mom's basement to bite their nails.

Nails or pillows?

If we make it 4, we’ll get a NY6 bowl game.

Who would be the best matchup?

This offense still has a lot of problems in so much as it goes into the tank for long stretches. That is what allowed Michigan to completely clobber ND.

There is no guarantee he starts ever. He’s been beaten out by a less athletic and lower rated QB for the last two seasons.

He’s never been beaten out. He was always redshirting last year. There was no QB competition this year either. Sure, no guarantees, but there’s none if he transfers either. Better to stay, get the degree and try to start here as a senior.

Simms started it and then everyone agreed,... lower your expectations, ND is elite,... get over not winning big games,... made me want to puke. Maybe it came off wrong but yeah,...

He ain’t starting so yeah he was beaten out. If he lit the world on fire in practice Kelly sure as shit would have started him.

No. There was never a competition. He wasn’t pegged to try to beat out Book. All Spring they work on his mechanics. And the Fall was him getting back to being comfortable and become a viable 2nd option.

Hey now...
I listened to the whole thing and I didn't hear what you are laying down.
They said some things relating to us being Elite even with the road loss to Michigan and Georgia. They did not say anything that should make any Irish fan upset unless your upset that we lost 2 games and don't think we are elite.
As far as I'm concerned your reporting of the said things Is fake news in its newest way.

This just means it wasn't even close enough to be a competition. Which means he was beat out worser.

You can’t be beat out when there was never a competition to begin with. Especially as a guy coming off a redshirt year with an incumbent starter.

Can NBC find a better PBP guy than Flutie? Absolutely, but he’s not as bad as he used to be. For one, he doesn’t drone on incessantly like he use to. For an example, go listen to Gary Danielson who is insufferable. I think even SEC fans are tired of him.

It has less to do with Flutie's ability or more to do with his cocky ass smile coming through the microphone when the Irish aren't doing well. Granted, there's been less of that the last few years as BK's righted the ship, but he can still be insufferable. It's a shame we finally get an excellent guy in Tirico for play by play, but he's paired with a mediocre color commentator in Flutie.

agree. Flutie wins my vote for "most improved". Of course, he started out so terrible its a wonder he lasted past the first year.
