I think MF's plan is to just let Burnette rest and get ready to kick in the playoffs. this is basically the exact same thing that we went through with Jeter last year.

Just let him rest, get him back to practice 100%, get ready for the postseason. Schmidt ain't it, that much is clear. Burnett was solid early before the hip injury. Counting on him come CFP.

Need to get Schmidts confidence up to a serviceable level on FGs in case burnette is never fully healed.

Also, Schmidt has a leg burnette doesn't have even when healthy. If we're in the playoffs and need a 50+ yard FG to win a game or in a crucial moment, it has to be Schmidt who attempts it.

A contrarian point of view from PUOSU?!

Burnette has been good when healthy. He's only missed one FG this year when he was banged up and questionable against USC. It was the same game he missed a PAT. They tried to bring him back for BC early and he clearly wasn't ready, missing another PAat. Now they're shutting him down hoping he can get back to form. This isn't even a debate.

He was 2-4 from 50+ last year with a long of 52 yards. Schmidt hasn't attempted one and is 0-3 from 30-49. What are we even talking about here.

Yeah, it's key these last two games to get the kicker in a bit of a groove. Even if its just from 20-25 yards out. I think Schmidt just needs to see the ball go through the uprights once to take the pressure off of him.

I agree, because after all this....If we lose in the playoffs because we don't have a kicker....That would be such a tough pill to swallow. And in the playoffs you need a kicker, no way around it. I don't think I could handle dealing with what happened to OSU against UGA in the Peach Bowl.

Exactly. That 2008 team wasn't very good. Good to great offense and an atrocious defense. I get the fretting about BC more than Syracuse because at least 93 cost us a national title. Syracuse 2008 just cost us a different, maybe slightly better bowl game. 2025 ND is a much different team and Syracuse is terrible. I believe Miami beat them 38-10, I would be slightly annoyed if we gave up 10 points to them.
GT needed last minute TD to complete a comeback. They are as bad as their record by a long shot and a lot better than Syracuse. Losing to NIU last year was worse than losing to Syracuse in 08 or UM losing to App State

App state was a 1AA team then, NIU is not

Idc what anyone says let Love pad his stats in this one he’s close to getting to NY. Give me 200 yards rushing and give him some touches in the passing game. Hell let him take a kick off too.
Only going to be one kick off from Syracuse in this game and hopefully only one in the Stanford game.

DK currently has Syracuse Team Total
Over 7.5 (+115)
Under 7.5 (-150)

Heavy juice to under per our Vegas friends.

Fascinated to see how Freeman plays this one.
Winning by 50 and leaving no doubt would certainly help our head to head case vs Miami

Marcus seems to have a lot of respect for Coach Brown, so we will see if he runs it up on him on Saturday.
I think 56-7 won’t be considered running it especially if we keep it to 14 in the 4th quarter with the backups in. Running 80% in the 4th quarter.

Heading down to South Bend today from Upstate NY (Rochester). Haven’t been in about 6 years, sooo pumped !! Traveling with a good buddy who is a Cuse alumn. Any suggestions for some bars & restaurants to hit up Thurs and Fri night ? I know last time I went, Eddy St had a few that were fun.

Thanks in advance! GO IRISH !!

(Any fun tailgate suggestions as well)

Eddy Street has basically doubled in size since post Covid. They have a handful of new restaurants, including a Taco+Tequila bar. Corby’s has renovated and added a second floor. Unfortunately, I’ve boycotted Corby’s because they took the check and hosted an IU tailgate party last year during the playoff game. So fuck them. There’s a new sports bar just down the street from Corby’s, called Manny’s. I haven’t been, but have heard good things.

Then there’s the classics: The Backer, Rocco’s, Brothers, O’Rourke’s, Barnaby’s on Jefferson, Bruno’s.

If you want the real tailgate experience, just walk around the Stadium and Joyce lots. You might now know anyone, but everyone is pretty friendly. Buy a case of beer at the Belmont Beverage next to Backer and go make some friends.

Depends on how nice/fancy
  • Eddy St now has a lot of interesting food and drink options
  • The Lauber is close to Corby's. Pretty good food and drinks. I've enjoyed Fatcap BBQ. No6 Scratch kitchen is good if you can get in.
  • If you're looking for upscale, there's The Exchange, Sidebar, and The Hideaway in downtown SB. You might look at Cascade if you want a fancy dinner
These all figure you're close to campus and DTSB. Where are you staying?

arrowryan and backer have good suggestions. I'll add a few

I'd definitely go to dinner and beers at Crooked Ewe (probably tonight). Awesome food, good beer, cool spot.

As for tailgate suggestions. Grab a 6 or 12 pack, go find cool ND tailgates near the stadium (non college student ones), introduce yourself, and make some new friends. I've done this and also had new people come to our tailgate when we've had a good one. I've been lucky enough to get parking passes right next to the stadium, there's a lot of good people there that will be inviting.

This was from yesterday's presser, unless I'm missing what you're asking:

G5-UrS-XkAANtPP
Fucking Landow and his inability to strengthen the left side of players bodies. Landow must go, our left side is slow (and weak).

Have a safe drive. We drove from Pittsford last year. It’s a beast of a drive. Haha
