My consternation is not with (lack of) quality of the win. I think we can all agree that good teams have bad days. What I'm concerned about is whether or not ND is actually as good as their ranking. There is NO DOUBT in my mind that pre-injuries, ND could more than hold its own in a 4 team playoff, regardless of opponent. I think this team is showing some serious signs of fatigue. Not sure if it's just the young guys hitting a wall, or too many snaps for some guys, or both, but it's a problem. I guess the good news is win or lose against Stanford, we're looking at a NYD or later postseason, so we will obviously have some significant time to heal and rest up, mentally and physically. I just hope the team doesn't allow this rough stretch to discourage them from their mission. I guess that's why the staff makes the big bucks. I'm sure they will use the time off most wisely.

I said somewhere else that I thought CJ probably took a heavier work load early in year than he should have being his first season at RB ever.

But overall I agree, seems like quite a few of the underclassmen have hit a wall. Outside of HS playoffs they have already played more games in a season than they ever have. Top on adjusting to college practice and class loads and I have no doubt its at least part of what's going on.

However, I really think with this being the season finale, vs a top 10 team, with playoffs on the line, the boys will find that next level.

I knew the outcome before I watched the game -otherwise i'd be freaking out.

But watching it I did feel that ND was in control the whole time and had no fear of losing.

However, it was an opportunity wasted because this was the chance to solidify ND in the Top 4 heading into Stanford.

Putting up over 400 yards of offense against the No. 1 D in the nation and practically moving the ball at will.

Dropped balls (Fuller - can't believe it) and countless fumbles and interceptions kept this game looking close when it should have been 42-10. If that was the case then no one would be talking about ND being out over the teams being discussed.

Now with this game I see the possibility of the committee bumping ND for Iowa and/or Oklahoma with OSU losing. Or even throwing in MSU back in the mix.

ND needs to win against Stanford first of all and I MAY even think it will need to be a good win.

Its the same thing he has been doing all season. He makes the catches he shouldn't and misses the ones he should. His inconsistent hands are the difference between being a great player and a good player.

Maybe he has dropped a lot of passes through out the year but I never noticed.

I don't know why anyone is shocked. This stat is from before the game, so it's only going higher.
