Just waiting for the inevitable posts of fear of ND playing down to its competition, not being focused bc of senior night, looking ahead to the CFP or an NY6 bowl game, etc and blowing this game. Every game since Cincy people are afraid we are going to lose. It is comical.

Funny thing about GTech, they're 3-7 but only blown out once, by Pitt. Beat NC by 20. They were actually ahead of BC yesterday in the 4th Qtr before folding. So another "close" game should not be surprising.

Bigger challenge for Freeman this week than with Virginia.

Not sure how the GT defence is like, how they shape up, but knowing our offence, we need a stout defensive game this week once again

How is GT a bigger challenge? If you mean to avoid a let down then I understand it. But GT’s offense is ranked in the 70th’s while Virginia’s was top 10. Not really worried about them being a high powered offense.

GT’s defense is almost ranked as bad as Virginia’s. Not really worried at all about this game and I don’t think we’ve had a let down game in the last 5 years.

Currently live in ATL, went to the Tech-BC game before watching the Irish this week. Tech was incredibly soft defensively after having a lead for parts of the first half. That was probably a game they could have won. This game, on the other hand, shouldn’t be close for even a quarter.

We are not facing a true freshman QB for no experience this week. Gibbs is a fine RB, that they use in multiple ways. They’re capable of scoring more than 3 points.

Hello all, looking forward to my first trip to South Bend this weekend! One of my bucket list stadiums, so I cant wait to visit.

I will be glad to answer any questions I can about Tech.

Our best player is Jahmyr Gibbs. Kid is a stud. Absolutely explovsive. Hes 2nd in the nation in All Purpose yards. Returned a KO for a TD last week, I doubt you guys kick to him.

Hes a real threat in the passing game as well, think of an Alvin Kamar type of player. He will be you guys #1, 2 and 3 focus.

Jeff Sims is our starting QB and he is up and down, shows flashes of greatness followed by terrible decision making. Is a big threat running as well. However he looked terrible in the Miami game two weeks ago, and you could tell he was hurt. He didnt play last week vs BC due to injury. If he is out, Jordan Yates is our starter. Hes a good backup. Plays clean for the most partm and is a good game manager.

Our OL is average at best.

WR our best is Kyric McGowan. Not a group that will scare anyone. Just average.

We go as Sims go on offense. See the UNC game for the good. See Pitt or VT for bad.

On defense...we suck. I mean we are abysmal.

Our last 6 games

Pitt - 580 yards
Duke - 489
UVA - 636
VT - 491
Miami - 563
BC - 505

Thats 544 yards a game we are giving up over the last 6.

We were a 4-2-5 D before the year began, week 2 we switched to a 3 man front. We need to be in a 4 man front vs you guys, but who knows what we will do.

DL. We had high hopes for Keion White, a transfer DE. But he has been hurt all year. He has been coming back slowly the last two weeks. Domineck is decent, Ivey is decent. DT is nothing to worry about.

LB we have 2 of the top 3 leading tacklers in the ACC. Ace Eley got a targeting call in the 2nd half vs BC, so he will be out the first half. His backup is a true FR, but I actually think he is better. We have Charlie Thomas who is kind of our disruptor. Had a big first half of the season, but has been quiet lately.

DB is just a complete mess. A bunch of older guys who just dont work well together. We have 1 or 2 busted coverages every game. Tre Swilling is our #1 corner and he gets torched every week. Tariq and Juanyeh are the two S, Juanyeh is a decent tackler but can get lost in coverage at times. Same for Tariq. They are both better suited at LB IMO.

IF Sims plays and is on fire we could give you guys a run till somewhere in the 2nd half. However, what I expect is a fairly easy ND win. You guys should be able to run the ball and pass when needed. Our O usually has a couple of costly TO's everygame.

Hey dude, welcome! Thanks for the write up on your team. It seems like the announcers during our matchup last year were optimistic on Tech's future considering all the young talent. What's the fanbases opinion on Geoff Collins to continue this rebuild?

I think most of the fanbase is starting to get worried I should say. Collins slogan this year was 'Win21" and we have clearly not done that.

We are adding a lot more talent to the team. Guys like Gibbs, Ivey, Tatum, etc. They are still really young though, so we understand that some time is needed to let them develop.

Even now we are 24th in team rankings on Rivals, and have five 4* committed. That is something that just doesnt happen at Georgia Tech.

Our AD gave him a 7 year contract, so we arent going to move on anytime soon. If we had just an average D this year we could have got 6 wins. Almost all of the fanbase is expecting/wanting to see a new DC hired this off-season.

It's year 3 and we are looking at the same win total as year 1, and had a loss to NIU this year. Just cant do that. Year 4 is a big year for him. He is going to get at least 5 years here no matter what though.

So, I would say the needle is moving toward concerned for most of the fanbase.

With the issues in your secondary, is Derrik Allen getting any run? I looked up a depth chart and saw he was listed as 3rd at one safety spot? Formerly on the ND roster and just wondering if he was contributing at all for you guys.

He has played some as a backup. Nothing special, similar to the others he has been lost. He whiffed bad on a tackle a few weeks ago vs UVA and I havent seen much of him since then.

when derrik allen signed with ND i thought he and houston griffth would make a killer safety duo.

If driving then watch your speed on 31. They’ve gotten me twice - once in Marshall County and the other in Fulton. IN’s finest will be out.

GT's offense does well against really bad defenses, but they've struggled against defenses that are in the upper half in terms of defensive FEI.

Over the past 3 weeks, they've played 3 teams with defensive FEI rankings of 60th or better and the results have been less than stellar.

Virginia Tech (55th DFEI): 17 points and 366 yards.
Miami (44th DFEI): 30 points and 329 yards. (Keep in mind 7 of those points came off a fumble return for a TD)
BC (60th DFEI): 30 points and 343 yards.

ND is ranked 16th in DFEI, so they will be, far and away the best defensive team GT has played since Clemson, when they were held to 8 points and under 300 yards.

This will be a tough test for a defense that has shown to be sloppy at times. GT isn't UNC levels of dangerous, but they can make you pay for sloppy tackling and not being disciplined. Need to continue the run of clean defense that we've seen the last 2 weeks.

Offense needs to get it's act together, because the last two weeks have been subpar. No reason to be held to under 30 against Virginia's horrid defense, even with the conservative gameplan.

I have 2 extra tickets for the game this weekend. Lower level section 25 (5 yard line), Row 4. 125 face value but I will sell them for 75 each. Get to sit next to me and my mom (even bigger fan than I am) and I like to be loud. PM if interested!

you may want to drop your price, Game is nowhere's near sold out and vivid has a bunch of seats for less than $50.

Looking at the seat map this could be our smallest crowd (excluding last year of course) since the early 70's.

$75 for row 4? That's a steal even if we're playing Holy Cross, IMO.

Closest I could find in Vivid on the lower bowl sidelines was $63 (before fees) in like row 40...I think his price is more than fair.

Watched some of last year's game a bit ago. Me being the negative nancy I am, I have a feeling we'll need to score in order to win. I like their QB and their RB is a problem. Both made quite a few plays on us last year and we were only saved by plays by Hamilton a handful of times and a good pass rush. I'm hoping the pass rush carries over, but I'm worried not having Hamilton on the field is going to be an issue this weekend. I'd love to be wrong, but I can see a game similar to VT where the team with the ball last wins if our defense doesn't play well. I know they have recently, but this is the best QB we've seen in the past 3 weeks.

One additional thing to consider is that Sims was injured last week so there is doubt he can go on Saturday……..if he does play and is healthy, he will be tougher to keep hemmed in than his replacement.

GTs offense will make some plays here and there and it may be a close game going into halftime but GTs defense is bad and ND should be able to go up and down the field on them all game long. the only thing about NDs offense i worry about is getting off to a slow start and sustaining drives (ND had a lot of wasted drives against UVA).

The only reason it might be close for a while is senior day. If Tommy can muster up a TD on the opening drive, it will probably be a blow out early.

I'm actually thinking that with Doerer's injury and his kickoffs falling short of the endzone that we're likely to see a couple good returns from Gibbs this weekend.
