Celebrating my 40th birthday with my whole family for this game. This will be my two youngest sons first time at ND and they are big Manti fans. I cant wait to cheer as loud as I can and hear the roar of the crowd when they announce Manti's name. I get chills thinking about it.

Well guess what my wife gave me as an early Christmas present??? You guessed it! She got 3 tickets to this game! It will be my first trip to South Bend and I am SO EXCITED! My wife, my 6 year old, and myself will be leaving Thursday and heading up. Can anyone give me any advice on where to get a room? We are both teachers in Mississippi and I can't afford the prices that I have seen. I saw some places in Mich that seemed affordable, but I do not want to bring the family to stay in a sh!thole. Also, any suggestions on all other things I need to do would be GREATLY appreciated. All I know is I have map quested this trip so many dam times that I can about see the map in my sleep! Where to park? what time to arrive? Where to eat? THings like that, that most of you guys take for granted and know, I don't! I sure hope to meet up with some of you guys at the game.

There is $20 parking Juniper Rd off of Douglas at the North end of campus. From there it is about a 10 minute walk through campus to get to the stadium. As far as what time to arrive, that depends on what you want to do. You can tailgate in lot, if that is something you're interested in. Otherwise, I would recommend getting there no later that 1:30 to make sure you get a spot that isn't too far away and to give yourself time to take in Notre Dame on a college football Saturday.

There are food vendors around the stadium, library, ect, but I recommend steak sandwiches at the Knights of Columbus.
Dining // Game Day // University of Notre Dame

Make sure you're outside of the stadium 45-60 min before the game to see the band march into the stadium.

Enjoy!

Any tips on a Hotel?

This should help for the gameday experience. Midnight drum circle is one of my favorite events. Definitely gotta do the Knight's of Columbus steak sandwiches too. It is worth the wait in line. Also the player walk is a lot of fun.

As far as a hotel, my wife stayed at a Super 8 in Mishawaka. Got a pretty good rate on game day weekend. There is a Super 8 closer to campus, but it is more expensive. Plus, the one in Mishawaka is right across the road from a Five Guys.

How far is Mishawaka and how long will it take to get to the stadium, due to gameday traffic?

It was only about a 10 minute drive. However, I just checked their availability and they are all full. Sorry bro. Check hotels.com. There are still some rooms in places like Goshen or Elkhart. Elkhart is about 15 miles from campus.

Get there early. We've stayed in Mishawaka the past two years and got there around 10:00 for a 3:30 game and traffic was starting to line up. If you don't have a parking pass, the best place is the golf course.

Will be my first home game since 2004. I cannot wait. And the fact it is Senior day for Manti and Co. will make it extra special.

Well, before I had my mishap, I was a big deer hunter. So, I have plenty of clothing to keep me warm. My wife got into hunting as well, so of course she had to get everything I had. Only difference is, it took me several years to accumulate my attire, she melted our Visa buying things online at Cabela's. My daughter has started her collection of hunting appeal, so we should have enough layers to make it. I went on a hunting trip with one of my former players a few years ago to Canada & was able to make it without turning into a Popsicle. Hahaha! For all o you thinking that I am speaking of wearing a camp ghillie suit, NO. I wouldn't want to get mustard on my Mississippi Church clothes! thanks for the tip though. I am sure my wife & daughter will try and melt my Visa on new layering clothes for this trip. Hell, I don't mind! I haven't been this excited since the birth of my first child! I can't tell all of you how much I appreciate your tips, but I will try.
THANK Y'ALL SO MUCH!

Just booked a room in Benton Harbor, MI. The lady said it was 25 miles from the stadium. America's Best Value Inn is the name of it. She said it was completely renovated inMay of this year. Price scared me because it was so cheap, but I guess worst case scenario, we will just keep driving & find another. We are leaving Next Thursday night (I prefer to drive at night) & plan on getting there around noon Friday. Any tips on Friday night? I am not a drinker & I will have my wife (also not a drinker) & 6 year old. Doesn't matter if folks are drinking, but I am too dam old for frat parties! HAHAHAHA! Any of y'all regular folks on here going to be there for the game? I would love to meet some of you "cyber old timers" face to face. Also, JUST GOT MY TICKETS OUT OF THE MAILBOX!!!!!!

DAM I AM SO EXCITED!!!!

Eddy Street Commons is always live and active the Friday before a game day. It is literally right across the street from the campus. They usually have a band playing with a lot of other things to do.

For dinner, if you like pizza then you're in luck. We have to great family owned pizza places, one of them is called Barnaby's and the other one is called Bruno's. I prefer Barnaby's but i know a lot of people that prefer Bruno's

Not to rain on your parade but the reason it is so cheap is cause Benton Harbor is sketchy to say the least. Make sure your car is locked and sleeping with a loaded weapon on the night stand may not be a bad idea.
Have fun at the game and be safe!

I have stayed in Benton Harbor with no trouble, but it does have a reputation.

I worked for a roofing company there one yr and while I was up on the roof of the old High School taking measurements some dudes jacked smashed the window one one of the work trucks and took it for an afternoon joy ride...lol it was good times.

We love pizza & may eat at one & get one from the other to eat later that night. I have a right to carry permit for Mississippi & I have called to see if Michigan accepts it. It will be locked in my pistol safe for the game. Will that be ok? I haven't gotten an answer back on either question yet.

Just texted my wife & told her about the town. She wants to know if we should look around more?

I would personally. Check Out St. Joseph which is right across the river from Benton Harbor, much nicer. If you want to get closer, Niles is a decent size town and should have some options. There are a lot of little to medium town not far.

Whatever you are comfortable with. You could always stay at a nice place in Chicago and then drive a little farther. Like I said, I stayed there with my family before without any troubles.

I am about to buy my tickets for this game and there is a guy that is selling what he calls "special seats". He says that there are only 18 of these in the stadium and they are between the goal lines. Claims that if people stand in front of you, you can still see over them while sitting down. Claims there are cup holders for drinks. Does anyone on here have any idea where these "special seats" might be located?
