Notre Dame football, Ian Williams Draft Diary: Floyd has fun at Williams¿ expense - southbendtribune.com

Notre Dame football: Spring practice No. 9 all but normal for Irish - southbendtribune.com

Here’s a rundown of their progress:

*Everett Golson, quarterback: “He’s got so much learning to do, and Everett is swimming,” Kelly said. “He’s competing, and we love the way he throws the ball, and his athleticism, but it’s a work-in-progress there, obviously.

“It’s nice that he’s out there getting reps, learning, as Tommy Rees did last year. And it (served Rees) well in terms of his ability to compete for us and win games. So it’s going to pay off for us, but right now, it’s difficult for him.”

*Kyle Brindza, kicker/punter: “We’re not doing a ton of special teams work,” Kelly said, “but he punted the ball very, very well today.”

*Brad Carrico, offensive tackle (converted from defensive end): “He did a great job of using his hands,” Kelly said. “And he’s going to be a very good offensive lineman.”

I really think Brian Smith completely overlooked. He was as good as any linebacker in the nation at the end of last year playing ILB. Constantly blowing up plays and filling gaps. In my mind his emergence was a HUGE part (if not the single biggest reason) why our defense was so dominant down the stretch.

I think whatever team takes a chance on Brian Smith will be happy they did as long as they put him in a position to succeed.

Former #NotreDame receiver Duval Kamara confirmed at Thursday's pro day that he missed the Sun Bowl because of academic issues.

That takes care of the Sun Bowl....So what's his excuse for missing the last 3 years??

it's the NFL, you have to succeed at the position that they put you. Or you're done.
