I'm going to go out on a limb and say Landow has forgotten more about strength and conditioning than anyone even knows on this board. I get it, it's a message board to discuss but some of these opinions like ANYONE here is even remotely able to "judge" him...Do you know what the regiment is and everything that is being asked of the players? This is the same principle about coaching and recruiting...opinions on things without having ALL of the facts is pissing in the wind

So knowing a shit load means that a guy's inability to get it done on the field cannot be discussed here?

What point, exactly, are you trying to make? BVG sucked. His defenses sucked. He was rightfully fired for sucking. Were we wrong to criticize him (and everybody here criticized him) because he "knows a shit load" and we're message board posters?

By your standards, every coach in history - even the worst of them - is above criticism, and because we're on a message board, we should just shut up and take it. That's not how this works.

As a former athlete I feel stupid not knowing this but wouldn't lack of cramps vs aTm be more about diet & hydration than it would be the lifting program these guys went through?

This is a distinct possibility. The problem was BVG didn't know how to use that knowledge.

I will say one thing. Leading up to TexasAM we were told over and over again how it would be so hard to travel to college station in the summer heat and win on the road because our players aren't conditioned for that environment. By half time it was apparent that ND was the better conditioned team and it was pretty clear we were going to win. Texas AMs players were dropping like flies because of cramping (ei poor conditioning) and our players looked strong and well conditioned for the entire game. I think we have to give some credit to him there. Not sure you can blame all these injuries on him, we all know its the UA shoes.

Again just my train of thought here but I could be in great shape, ie well conditioned, and still suffer cramps in a humid environment because of poor diet and hydration.

The compound interest of this hire will continue to show as this roster grows under Landow. Injuries will always happen in a violent game but I believe Landow was a very good investment.

Good point VDP, everyone wants to point fingers at the strength guys when guys were going down with injuries, but it's hard not to think he's been absolutely instrumental in making this team stronger and faster.

There were some naysayers out there after Freeman leaned more into the science rather than stay with Balis' old school approach.

This was the most surprising thing to me as well. In the past ND has struggled playing in the South in August/September. To see it was the Texas team cramping up and not us...complete surprise.
