I don't think that any coach would ever imply that even if they thought it.

Jonas Gray has had a "great" summer.

Good news, though I wonder what exactly this means? "Great" can point to many things, but with Jonas I think it really comes down to what will he do once he straps back on those pads.

when did he say that?

Jason Sapp of 247 paraphrased it this way:

When do you know it's a championship-caliber team:

- You can sense if the team has the right ingredients going into the season, but have to play a couple games first to really know where the team stands.

That seems like a pretty reasonable response now i don't think this team is championship caliber but I would never in any way hint at it to reporters if I was a coach.

From what I heard it seemed like a good press conference, then a thunderstorm blew through and the lights flickered for a brief second and my cable went off line. I guess I will try to watch it from where I left off.

I don't think this is Championship team either but I took that as a more I don't know until I see them play kind of blow off of the question.

The highlights:

* Jonas Gray will be the second tailback in the mix. Kelly is happy with the summer that Gray had, but also said that one the Freshmen (either George Atkinson or Cam McDaniel) will see time. How much time will depend on Gray.
My take: Gray worked hard and improved, but still is not a complete back.

* The team is at full strength, relative to who they expected to have at the start of the season. They already knew that they would be without Clelland and Roberson.

* Everett Golson will continue to be live (able to get hit) in Fall Camp. Kelly specifically stated that this was because "he put the ball on the ground too many times". I would expect to see Golson get a few reps this year, but not many, unless he convinces Kelly that he can be counted on to hold onto the ball.

* Kelly feels like he has 5 legitimate playmakers on offense. I can't remember all 5 names, but Wood, Riddick, and Floyd were three of them. The other two might have been Crist and Eifert?

* Kelly will not "hide" the decision on a starting QB, for any kind of tactical advantage, going into S. Fla. He wants to know, two weeks before, who his starter will be.

* Kelly seems to be very confident in the Offensive line. What a relief that would be: to have an O line that we can count on, again?
