On a related note, I have a Tim Brown autographed mini-helmet. It is still in the plastic box or whatever you want to call it that the helmet came in. Does it decrease the value if one were to take it out of the box? It would look better out of the nasty plastic to match my Johnny Lattner mini-helmet. Thanks fellas.

I think unopened is the most desired by collectors, but I'd open it for display because I'd never sell it anyways. Just don't allow smoking or greasy kitchen air to get on it.

Take it out of the plastic and rub it against your cpu screen over Upton's saggy titties that everyone seems to be obsessing over. Then wrap it in a push-up bra, and place it on the mantel.

HCTI, I'll bet those balloons float like a cloud when the top comes off.

And if not, cow utters on a 20 year old are sexy as hell.

I'll, as a seriously flawed human, brag too: Notre Dame yearbook DOMEs of Gipp's senior year, and the Four Horsemen's junior and senior years.

Not sure I want to know their value, as I'll probably just give them to some ND football fanatic after a few more years on this fine old planet.

WOW! Those year books would be awesome to see. Can you post any pictures to share?

I'd love to post pictures from them, but despite the best efforts of guys on this site of trying to teach this old dinosaur how to use whatever that picture dump site is called, I can't get it to work....

If you would be willing to email the pictures to me, I could post them for you. Those really would be awesome to see.

Not necessarily football related, but after next year I will be acquiring a brick from the original LaFortune Student Center (these bricks were made with limestone that was mined from the bottom of the lakes on ND's campus). That sucker is going straight in a glass display case and I couldn't care less about the monetary value, because it's never getting sold.

Peoria: if you could PM me your e-mail address, I'll get to work and try to get a bunch of the interesting pictures to you. You can post as many of them as you think would entertain the troops.

The DOMEs are a little "old" by now, so I'll have to be careful and this Old Man doesn't do anything quickly anymore anyway. But, sure, I'd like to share the REALLY old glory.

My four sons are waiting for me to die so thay can get into my Notre Dame Room.

Gold walls, deep blue carpet with fatheads of the stadium, leprachan, helmet and Quinn. I have a shelf and a rotating display that have autographed pictures, mini-helmets and footballs for 14 Irish QB's along with Brown, Lattner and Hornung. The room aslo has banners pictures, etc..

I'd love to get my hands on some full sized autographed helmets, but they are usually a little out of my budget.

This is some really great stuff from OMM. Here we go. I'll post the pictures and his comments about each them under the respective picture. These are all scans of the ND yearbooks. Thanks for sharing these with us OMM!

This is a painting of Gipp.

gippetal_0008.jpg

A collage of Gipp.

gippetal_0011.jpg

A poem dedicated to Gipp at his death.

gippetal_0001.jpg

A portrait of Knute.

gippetal.jpg

A dedication to him from the yearbook staff.

gippetal_0006.jpg

The team during Gipp's final year. Gipp is in the middle of the back row. Rockne is far left next row down. Captain of the team Coughlin is holding the ball ["Western 1920 Champs"]. At his left arm is Hartley "Hunk" Anderson, a famous early destroyer on the football field, and later coach.

gippetal_0007.jpg

One of the write-ups in the section. Things like at the bottom were pieces of actual photographs --- this one has Gipp going around end [ "Gipp has him on his ear", it says].

gippetal_0004.jpg

The team also in Gipp's last year. Rockne is farthest right. Gipp is in middle row farthest left.

gippetal_0005.jpg

Collage of National Championship press clippings.

gippetal_0003.jpg

One of the pages for graduating seniors. Football captain Coughlin was an ace student and class president to boot.

gippetal_0002.jpg

Just for fun, what the Grotto and "fair catch Corby" looked like back in those days.

We have some more for y'all! Thanks again to OMM for sharing these with us. This is a great periscope into another time. I love this kind of stuff.

Side note: Am I the only on that when they read those dedications and stories, they have the voice of a 1920's announcer in their head? Great stuff.

gipperplus_0005.jpg

The ND captain during Gipp's "junior" year. Gipp is in the middle below

gipperplus_0004.jpg

The Team. Rockne far left middle row; his passing buddy Gus Dorais far right opposite. Captain Bahan with the ball. Huge over his shoulder is next year's captain Coughlin. Over Coughlin's shoulder is Gipp. Back row has both the destroyer Anderson brothers ["Hunk" at far right]. Far right front is national sprint champion Hayes

gipperplus_0001.jpg

Page dedicated to Rockne and Dorais.

gipperplus.jpg

Page showing the Chemistry faculty --- note Rockne. Knute nearly became a chem prof instead of a football coach. [My note: Can we all thank God this didn't happen!]

Collage of the season
