Blackhawks have not been playing their best of hockey as of late but came up with a statement win of sorts of in their own conference tonight.

Anyone ever seen this before?
National Hockey League Playoff Chances - Sports Club Stats

Lists teams odds of making playoffs, winning Presidents Trophy, winning Stanley Cup. If you click the NHL link (one that you should arrive at from the above link), it shows the odds per team. If you click a conference or division, if breaks thinks down by division and shows the probability of a team making the playoffs. Also shows the big winners and losers on the night: Toronto was a big loser Saturday (losing almost 17% points of their probability of making the playoffs - dropping to 44% chance of making the playoffs); Dallas and Detroit were the big winners (picking up almost 16% and 15% respectively).

If you click any individual team's link, it shows probability of making the playoffs, likely seed, and probability of who they would likely play at varying total points for the team. It also shows who you should be cheering for in various games that affect your team's status.

Seems like you can select 'weighted' (where it takes records and home ice advantage into account) or 50/50 where it just tosses a coin to determine how various teams will do in future games (to determine standings). Runs a number of simulations (says millions of times) on how the season will play out each time scores/results are updated. Not sure if Whiskey is a hockey fan, but he'd probably love this (or maybe rip it apart).

It was ruined by golf for me. The channel switched to golf seconds before the Flyers scored the tying goal in the 3rd. I was a little pissed off.

Flyers aren't playing too bad lately but let's face it,they aren't going anywhere
this season. Mason has been good but it always seems the other goalie is better.
We're still a couple pieces away from making a long run in the playoffs.

Agree to disagree. I don't think they are winning or going to the cup but i don't think an ECF run is out of the question. In my opinion they are a #1 d-man away from being a serious contender.

That's the problem,#1 D man are hard to come by. We'll have to part with
some young talent, probably B.Schenn or Coots to do that. I'd deal Schenn
in a package but Coots needs to stay,he is going to be special as he matures.
Maybe at the draft we'll pick up a good D man. Giroux also needs a winger
better then Hartnell. Love to see us sign Bobby Ryan when he becomes a UFA.

Not sure the Flyers are capable of beating the Rangers in a playoff series considering their inability to beat them in NY and the premium value of defense and goaltending in the playoffs. So I don't see the Flyers getting out of the first round under the current matchups.

Christian folin, just saw his season come to an end at UMass Lowell and many people believe he will bolt and become a UFA Immediately, allowing for him to sign with anyone he so chooses and be available for the playoffs, kind of in the way Krug played out last year for the Bs. Kid is nhl ready and he is IDEALLY what the flyers need on the blue line, would be huge for any sort of playoff run this year as well as the down the road in regards to keeping this core together. A lot of experts have us as the favorite to land him so hopefully homer can get it done.

In regards to getting G a better winger, you might have to deal a one of the many center pieces that we have to get someone noteworthy on Gs hip, (schenn coots Laughton) and unfortunately I'm lead to believe we are stuck with hartnell and his abomination of a contract for a very long time. It sucks that I have to resent Hartsy to the extent that I do solely based on what we are paying him/his NTC
So hopefully scorachek Continues to develop into a complimentary piece of Giroux.

Without a doubt the rags scare me the most with our inability to show up at MSG, but in theory it would only take 1 in the garden and I wouldn't put it past stone cold Steve mason to steal a game, I'm not saying were a clear cut contender but if mase gets hot behind this group of guys, look out.

I haven't followed UMass Lowell too much but they have been pretty good
lately. This Christian Folin kid is a good puck moving D man? Wonder if Homer
does like what Chiarelli did with Krug and brings him in? I'd give him a shot
a couple games to see what he has,lol but that's me. Homer probably won't
fiddle around with the D now that MacDonald was picked up at the deadline.

I don't think they will beat them but With home ice they definitely could. Not saying they will but if the Flyers get home ice its not out of the question they could beat them.

From what I read he is more of a 2 way defensemen and has a really nice shot. He's not eligible for the playoffs so he'd just go to the Phantoms to finish the year, depending when he signs.

Thinking Rangers in 6, love my Flyers but this just isn't a good matchup for them.

If Kane and Toews don't play like MVP's it is going to be a short postseason for the Blackhawks. I don't see them making it out of the 1st round, especially the way they have been playing lately.

Looking forward to the start of the playoffs.

I think I can say without a doubt the NHL has the best improvement in product from its playoffs relative to the regular season and may be the best playoffs in sports.

The regular season product is great IMO, just doesn't captivate viewers each week because the season is long and seed means less in hockey than any other sport that has a playoff. It isn't like CFB where every single game makes or breaks your season.

umm have u seen the Blues lately?? Playing like absolute shit. Finished the season on a 6 game losing streak. Backes, Oshie, Tarasenko, and Berglund all have very real injuries.

Matter of opinion I guess. I would rather watch the NHL playoffs than the World Cup. That said, I very much enjoy both.
