Should be this afternoon. I thought they usually came out on Monday, but that couldn't happen since there was a game last night.

8th in both polls.
If Stanford and VT don’t lose before our matchups we would play three top 15 teams in the first six weeks. Good night.

And Coaches.

LSU behind Washington is absurd.

I don't know. Washington/Auburn was a close game, and Washington came across the country into SEC land. Had Auburn traveled to the West coast, I think the outcome might have been different. LSU was at home, and while they looked tough as hell, Miami didn't look like they did early last year. They looked more like the end of 2017 Canes.

We'll have a better picture soon. In two weeks, LSU@Auburn...

#8 in AP and Coaches, was hoping they would fall a spot or two to light a fire under them

I thought they should fall a spot but it was Stanford who I would've bumped ahead of them. 3 weeks from now, that will work it self out the old fashioned way so no biggie.

#8 Feels about right. Just need to take care of business each week. The schedule looks daunting at this point but I'm just going to enjoy the ride.

I'm also just going to enjoy the ride watching college guys play not semi pros ,with that said there has got to be improvement this week against an opponent that is used to playing top tier teams- Vandy will be thinking thet can win this game with all they go thru in the sec-watch out.

ND should be ranked. Somewhere. Anywhere. Ahead of the 1 loss teams. Doesn't matter where. Don't deserve top 10.

Perfect... If the W at Wake then beat an overrated Stanford team at home to give us a huge quality win to go with the W over Mich. Maybe we are overrated too, but there’s no way we shouldn’t be able to be top 5-6 by the time we go to VT. Even with a (competitive) loss there, we’d be right in the mix with the talent/ability to play with anybody left on the schedule. Mainly our offense needs to improve is all

The top 5 seems to be a tier above 6-10. How soon could anyone break into the top 5?

I honestly don't think we should be ranked

At all? Beat a talented Mich team and are undefeated even if the wins were ugly. Stanford makes a living winning ugly. I don’t think it’s possible to make a case there’s 25 teams that deserve to be ahead of ND. Yes, perhaps they are a bit high (obviously based on the opener over a highly hyped team), but they absolutely deserve a good ranking IMO

Well, its quite obvious we are way over ranked. Theres probably 3-5 teams in the top 25 that I'd put Notre Dame ahead of. I don't want us to be ranked because I'd like this team to earn a ranking and they haven't done that yet. We still don't know if the Michigan win holds any weight yet.

Michigan is looking good. I think it'll hold weight, but that being relevant depends on whether we can also take care of business.

Agree, the top 5 is a separate group from all others, at least right now. LSU trending up, Stanford has Oregon next week. OU will have UT in a few weeks.
ND probably higher than they should be. We'll know what we got after Stanford and VT, but make sure we take care of Wake first.

Don't want the playoffs. At all. We would get stomped. Can't we (for once) go 10-2 and get a soft(er) team in a NY6 bowl? Finish the year off on a really positive note? The last thing I want is a mediocre ND team slipping into the playoffs at 11-1 and getting absolutely housed by OSU or Alabama destroying all of the positive momentum.

No disrespect. I just don’t understand this mentality. You go to the playoffs if you have a shot. If you lose big, at least you got to the fight. No shame in that. A NY6 bowl is like getting a ribbon for honorable mention.

Yeah and in CFB that matters. What's a better look in recruiting, a big win in NY6 bowl or a 4 TD beatdown by OSU/Bama?

Are the facts on your side?

ND's 2013 class was #5 after the 2012 NC game. Kelly's best by far.

OSU's recruiting has had the #1 Avg Player Rating since they got waxed 31-0 in the '17 CFP's.

Impossible to say because we've never won a BCS/NY6 game (since the BCS program started and haven't since it switched either). We don't know what the recruiting rankings look like if we beat KSU in the Fiesta Bowl. OSU is going to recruit well because the have a realistic shot at the CFP's every year, they have Urban Meyer, they are a blue blood program, and since Meyer stepped on campus only maybe 2 teams have a better record than them. Oh and they won a national championship a few years ago and beat some team from northern Indiana a few years ago in a NY6, quite handily too.

Losing big doesn't have to hurt, it's proven. Would winning that last game make ND's classes that much better? I can't prove it one way or the other but IMO, no. The type of players that award themselves to the NC winners and are only concerned with what that school puts into the NFL, aren't the type of players that make it at, or chose ND. The type of kids who chose ND and Stanford care more about being a National Cahmpion in life, not as much concerned with the ancillary bling that comes with Bama or SC. I'd be more concerned with getting the right kind of recruit, like the Walter Rouse's of each class... even though the industry types have most causal recruitniks believing he's just a 3 star. He'll be a star at Stanford and would've been one at ND (eventually) also.

I agree! Gotta be in it to win it..... The whole point for ND (no conference) is to compete (and hopefully win ) national championships not to look good for a few recruits who likely would struggle at a non-football-factory school anyway. Those would be the type that would go elsewhere if we got rolled. I feel you get more traction from being there than looking good in a big bowl game (besides when do we ever get a favorable matchup in those anyway OSUx2, LSU). It’s the job of the recruiters to sell the program and if they can’t sell a kid on an 11-1 team that has a bad day in a playoff-he shouldn’t be a recruiter here.... That’s just my 2 cents. I respect the other side, but I don’t like the “play for a consolation trophy” mentality.

Not related to rankings, but ESPN's bowl projections have ND either playing UGA in the Peach Bowl, or vs Washington in the Fiesta Bowl. Last think I want to do is play UGA in GA two years in a row... I'd love to play anyone else in GA though..
